Transformers debuted in the mid 80's and immediately became a HUGE hit. With 98 episodes, a movie, and an unbelievably great selling toy line, the transformers were possibly one of the biggest things of their time! The autobots, lead by Optimus Prime, battled the evil decepticons and their leader Megatron, in a battle over Earth and the homeworld of Cybertron. The movie introduced many new characters and even provided a new pesonality for Megatron, that being Galvatron. After the movie, Transformers season 3 began and continued from where the movie left off. Ratings soon began to fall however, and after the first 3 episodes of season 4 (title Rebirth), the series was left to show reruns and was later reproduced with computer graphics which was referred to as Generation 2. However, Transformers did not end there! While Transformers seemed dead in the U.S., three more series' aired in Japan. Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory (airing in that order), continued where the original series left off and also introduced many new characters never seen in the United States except for appearances in the toy lines (pretenders, target masters, etc..). Many Transformers fans find these series' to surpass the originals in almost every way!
