About This Layout

This layout is named "Celestial Nights ". I haven't make a layout for quite some time, this one has a touch of abstract artwork in the background. This is a Div Layer designs but I also use tables. It is not a frames design as the content scrolls in the div layer instead.

This is a XHTML-compliant design. All the HTML code used in this design are validated as XHTML-compliant.

There are 2 main div layers, both are set to scroll if the contents are too long. The first div is this text content area you are reading, it is contained within a 557x302 area. The other is for the side menu area. This layouts looks best without the menu area scrolling so you may want to keep that in mind.

You need advance understanding of HTML and bit of XHTML to use this layout, you have been cautioned so don't come yelling at me for help if you don't even know HTML.

This layout is best viewed on advance browsers with CSS 2 support.

This design can be used as a template for an entire site. Read the DDG PHP Tutorials to learn how to do so.

Using This Design

I have made a HTML and a PHP version for this design Its all included in the zip file. For HTML design & PHP version, simply extract index.html and all the images into the same folder.

For HTML Version:

1. Navigation is customized in index.html.
2. Contents are be edited in index.html.
3. The CSS is in style.css which sets the colors and font face for the design.
4. Title image is (site_4x1.jpg), open it in a graphics editor and add site title to it.
5. The navigation file is index.html.
6. Save and upload everything onto your host or sign up for a free host (like Tripod ) if you haven't one.

For the PHP version:

1. Navigation is customized in bottom.txt
2. Contents are in index.php
3. CSS: same as HTML version (see point 3 above)
4. Title: (see point 4 above)
5. To create additional pages, follow the same format as index.php
6. You'll need a PHP-enabled host to use the PHP versions.
7. Save and upload everything onto your host.

You should have a good understanding of HTML codes and CSS codes. Read the readme.txt in the zip file for customizing this layout.
