"When you reach the mountaintop, you're only halfway" Mountain climbers' proverb.
This is a relevent proverb for my life at this time because now that I'm at the mountains, the journey has just begun. Once I've completed the Counseling program, I'm only halfway there.
Robert C. Morris, "Riding the Wild Mountain Ox" in Weavings.
This one quote has a lot to say to each of us. First of all, I hope that I don't have to ride any wild moutain ox to come up with something as profound as this. It is my hope that in this time of seminary that I will "become more aligned with God's purpose" in my life and that you also will seek out God's will for your lives and then follow that.
I do not want to leave here the same way I came. For so many who go to seminary, they get wrapped up in the study and learning and forget about the personal relationship.
There is so much more to this quote than what I have touched on here. I hope you will take a moment to think about what it says to you.
To give you a brief update on my comings and goings here, I am going to Denver Seminary full time and taking 11 hours of credit. I enjoy most of my classes, but my favorite is Old Testament History where we are studying Israel and her prophets. The professor is very dynamic and encourages us his students to read the Bible in a way that we never have before. The Old Testament is full of much more than just ocassional devotional material, but it runs deep with knowledge and challenges.
I am currently working part time at Office Depot. I am currently working 20 hours a week. Most of my co-workers are great and have been very friendly and helpful, which has made the experience pleasant.
I have found a great group of friends who attend the seminary. They are single women who range in age from early 20's to early 40's. We have shared experiences and convictions. It has been exciting to watch these friendships grow and to see how it has all come about. Single men are few at the seminary, but I am meeting some single men in the community.
April 2003: Thank you for your prayers! God has answered this prayer and provided a great spiritual mentor. We are both very excited about what God has in store.
Of course I can always use financial support. I am going to try to go through graduate school debt free so that when I get a job I do not have to worry about paying back loans! You can make a tax deductible donation to the Texas Tech Wesley Foundation and put my name in the memo line. Mail the check to the Texas Tech Wesley Foundation at PO Box 2953 Lubbock, TX 79408-9977. They then send the money to the school. Thanks to those who have sent financial support!
I am an Independent Representative for ACN and can offer you long distance telephone services at a rate that is comptetitive with the top three major companies (MCI, AT&T, and Sprint). I can offer assistance with electricity (depending on your location and current provider) and internet dial up. You can choose any of the services and switch at no cost to you and no committment. Your switching would be doing me a hughe favor! If you are interested or want to know more please let me know.
