UBC

UBC, Downtown Vancouver.

Directions: The easiest via BC Transit is to take the skytrain to Joyce station, then take the 41 UBC for approx. 45min. You will get to a transit circle at UBC. There is a student union building right in front of the bus stop. The arcade is in the basement.

UBC is $1 for T4, VF4, and TTT. But on sunday's it's only 50 cents for all games.

Review:

Pretty big for a university arcade. They're probably the most uptodate as well surprisingly. They get the latest games before anyone else. VF4 first arrived in UBC arcade I believe. Anyway they have two T4 cabinets, one on a jap machine and the other on a american machine. Cost is $1 on both machines and they're both set to best of 3 rounds against AI and VS. On the american machine side 2 is pretty good and responsive but side 1 is quite bad. I couldn't get off a lot of moves requiring diagonals on side1. There's no way you'll be able to have a fair match on this machine unless someone has had a lot of practice on side1 and is very familiar with the stick. The japanese machine was damn good and pretty much on a par with the odakyu machine. Only prob is that the 3 button on one side started popping out after a gaming session I had with a friend. Since then I've asked the arcade manager to fix it twice but nothings really been done and the button still pops out pretty easily. With the 3 button fixed I'd say this is a great machine to have serious matches on. Overall a good arcade but probably the most expensive in Vancouver. They charge $1 for almost all their games. Heck they even charge $1 for ttt. Side1 on the ttt machine is good but side 2 is somewhat unresponsive. IMHO the side 2 player will be at a disadvantage in the match because button presses and diagonals tend to be unresponsive at times. However if you come to the arcade on sundays, all games are $0.50! I think the arcade closes at midnight although I'm not 100% sure of that.
