| What is the point of Yu-Gi-Oh? |
| The whole point of Yu-Gi-Oh is to take out
all of your opponents life points. For this job you need strong attackers with a
high attack. For defense you might want some defending monster as well. You also
might want to put in some monsters that do direct damage so you can get an early
start. Also make sure you have magic and traps to help you out. Even if you have
the best monsters you won't be able to do nothing to an average player if you
don't have magic or trap support. |
| You should also always get a theme for your deck. Never just
place 40 cards and use those. I am not saying you won't win casual duels.
You just won't be one of those tournament winners (like RedFlare is) if you do that. These are some
themes for a deck. |
| The Beat Down |
| The most commonly used deck. all you really need is
strong monster with good attacks and some power ups. This is th e best Deck that
wins tournaments. |
| Dragons |
| The strategy of this deck is to get your LORD
OF DRAGONS out and combo him with the FLUTE OF
SUMMONING DRAGONS. From there you can bring out 2
BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON, TYRANT DRAGONS or
any other strong dragon. This is good just slow (I know from experience) and
you have to risk getting stopped by cards like, TRAP HOLE,
MAGIC JAMMER, IMPERIAL ORDER
etc. |
| BURN |
| These are direct Damage decks. Contains monsters such as CANNON
SOLDIER, AMAZON ARCHER with SCAPEGOATS.
I suggest you also have GRAVITY BINDS to stop beat down
decks. Without that, a good beat down will be able to take you out
before you get to burn. |
| EXODIA |
| The point of this deck is to assemble the unstoppable EXODIA.
You will win instantly by assembling all five peaces. |
DECK DESTRUCTION - The most hard to build deck. If you want a
good Deck Destruction deck I suggest you get 3 NEEDLE
WORMS (which go for $80.00 and up a piece on ebay!) and a
MORPHING JAR (which go for $80.00 and up a piece on ebay!). Just watch out for ROYAL
COMMAND, that'll mess you up big time (I know from experience)

| ADVANCED STRATEGIES |
| These are some strategies I use when I build
a BEAT DOWN deck (I Play in tournaments so if you can build a deck like this you
will be really good). |
- NO MORE THAN 40 CARDS - The rules say you can use 40 or
more. I strongly suggest that you leave it at a flat 40. 1 or 2 more won't
hurt but the less you have the better.
- BUILD A SOLID OFFENSE - Don't use Defense monsters like
MYSTICAL ELF
or LABYRINTH WALL, you are way better
off with a strong offense. You don't see no tournament decks (mine included)
with any defense monsters.
- KEEP YOUR OFFENSE HIGH - If You can't manage to get GEMENI
ELVES, GOBLIN ATTACK FORCES or any other
strong attack card be sure to keep your Attack at AT LEAST 1800. No less!
- HAVE 1/2 MONSTERS - Have about half your deck Monsters. I
play about 18 monsters in my deck of forty so if anything, have more magic
and traps.
- USE THE STAPLE CARDS - There is some cards that should be in
EVERY deck no matter what. some of those cards include: RAGEKI,
DARK HOLE, HARPIE'S FEATHER DUSTER, HEAVY STORM, CHANGE OF HEART, MONSTER
REBORN, POT OF GREED, GRACEFUL CHARITY, MIRROR
FORCE, CALL OF THE HAUNTED, IMPERIAL ORDER, RING OF DESTRUCTION and
JINZO!
