LATEST: Jesse Metcalfe, who shot to fame as hunky gardener John on ABC's Desperate Housewives, has signed on to make his feature bow in the title role of 20th Century Fox's John Tucker. Betty Thomas will be directing the project, which is slated to begin shooting this summer in New Orleans. John Tucker, penned by Jeff Lowell, stars Metcalfe as a playboy whose meandering ways lead to his downfall. After years of cheating, three of his ex-girlfriends team up to set him up with the new girl in town. All the while, the exes know the girl will dump him and break his cheating heart. Bob Cooper will be producing the project with Karen Lunder under the Landscape Entertainment banner. Debbie Liebling will be overseeing the project on behalf of Fox. Metcalfe, repped by Endeavor, got his television star starring as Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald on NBC's Passions. Here's the scoop: Eva Longoria and co-star Jesse Metcalfe are leaving the set of Desperate Housewives, when they get pulled over by the police. Eva becomes scared when Jesse flees the scene. The police discover a false identity and a large amount of cash left behind, and tells Eva that she may be a criminal!
