I just got the e-mail about the Crashdown
petition to save Roswell...by all means,
sign it. And if the series is in this much
jeopardy according to them and their contact
from the Roswell Production staff, then maybe
Crashdown should also start a collection
of say $1 and upwards from each fan to
place a $4,000 daily ad in Variety or
Hollywood Reporter expressing fans'
support of Roswell. I think running the ad
for a week would be a good idea.
An open letter such as below would be
great. Please feel free to forward this
on to the Crashdown people, with my
regards...
Proposed ad letter to be placed in a
Hollywood trade follows:

TO UPN REGARDING ROSWELL
We, the fans of the Roswell television
series, want United Paramount Network
and others in the television and entertainment
arts industry to know that the Nielsen Ratings
are not always an accurate gauge of a televison
show's popularity and following. This
letter in a major Hollywood trade is proof
of the kind of loyalty and passion that
an automated ratings system cannot
measure or detect nor which sponsors and
network executives can buy.
Roswell has an established fan base and
it is a fan base that has grown and loyally
followed the series for 3 seasons now.
Smallville or any other new hit series
as successful as they may be, are simply
that, for the moment, a ONE season
hit series. With its established cast of
characters, developments, and bold
new storylines, Roswell continues on this
season with a host of new writers who
are demonstrating that the series has
staying power and can hold the old
fans interest while garnering new fans
all the time.
We hope that UPN can support Roswell
and let it continue on in its attempt to
entertain the fans who watch it each week.
This open letter is the passion and heart of
countless fans of a television series telling
everyone, including the entire Roswell cast
and Production staff that their efforts are
appreciated, supported, and if need be,
publicized by a voice that at times must
be heard above a ratings system that
cannot measure or take into account and
measure every factor and variable behind
a successful television series.
Sincerely,
The Fans of Roswell
