“On Our Own”

README3--The Gang Goes Through the List of Every Street Name in Dayboqrx

Rather than just giving this a nice and normal title, I’ve decided to give it an annoying title like each episode has and put “The Gang…” in it, despite the fact that this obviously has absolutely nothing to do with any of the characters in the show.

This is the list of every street name that exists in Dayboqrx City.  Naming the streets is quite the daunting task because, well, there are 645 named streets in the three boroughs of the city.  Thank God 558 of them (or 86.51%) go in order by numbers in East Dayboqrx and Dayboqrx City.  That leaves just 87 streets for naming…so hear goes:

DAYBOQRX CITY:

Streets run from the southwest to the northeast (because of the tiltedness of Dayboqrx Island).  They start at 1st street in Uptown Dayboqrx, and end at 326th street in downtown Dayboqrx.  Why the numbers go up as you travel downtown is just one of those Dayboqrx mysteries, so don’t question it.

Avenues are classified as both major and minor.  Minor avenues come between each major avenue and go by number.  Major avenues have actual names, so here they go, in order from west to east.

(Well, there’s 22 of the 87!)

Pushor Avenue is in bold type because of its importance and relevance to the show, the penthouse can be found along Pushor Avenue between 75th and 78th Streets.  Second most important is Tragedy Avenue, as Dayboqrx University can be found there, the main office building being at the corner of Tragedy and 213th St.

NORTH DAYBOQRX:

Streets in North Dayboqrx are actually given names, because there are only 19 of them, not enough to get numbered.

Avenues in North Dayboqrx are ordered alphabetically, A-M.  They are named after obscure elements in the periodic table.  However, lacking a good F element, or any J element for that matter, the system sorta breaks down at these streets.  After M is a list of 15 avenues named for famous scientists.  You may think this area, called Science City, would be the intellectual capital of the entire city, but in fact, it has the lowest average IQ among all Dayboqrx neighborhoods.  Which just goes to show you, DAYBOQRX IS BACKWARDS!

Antimony Avenue

Beryllium Avenue

EAST DAYBOQRX:

Streets run in an east to west direction, going from 1st Street in the very northernmost point of the borough to 232nd Street in the very southernmost point.

Avenues are not named like anything else above.  Back in spring of 2003 (oh how long ago that was), the writing staff was hard at work completing the names of every street in the city, when it struck them that in most places, streets and avenues are named after people.  Rather just going at random picking people to have streets named after, we decided to allow people to volunteer to get their own street in East Dayboqrx.  The operation went over with surprisingly overwhelming success, for a little while anyway.  Then, we couldn’t get anymore people to get any, so desperate measures were taken.  Therefore, if you happen to recognize the last names of some of the people referenced by avenues in East Dayboqrx, there is a good chance that it’s them (unless of course you know for a fact that the person does not know us, in which case it’s a coincidence).

Mac Avenue

(That’s 17 more to the total, giving us a total sum of 86…but wait, I thought there were 87…)

Also running through East Dayboqrx is the most widely traveled route in the city, Asham Boulevard.  One of the three major routes that meet at the Connection, Asham Boulevard is semi-often referenced in the show, but only when the gang travels to East Dayboqrx or get on the 8 train.  That’s about it.

(And that’s 87!!! Aren’t you proud that we were able to name all of those, I am!)
