The Magical City of Wonder: Dayboqrx

This is the first "On Our Own" README file, it tells you everything about the setting of the show, which is, of course, complicated by nature, because, well we are stupid like that.

Dayboqrx is the largest city in the history of the universe (or at least on Earth if you want to get technical).  At last census, the cities population was just shy of 40 million, and is increasing exponentially.  It is comprised of three main islands, North Dayboqrx, East Dayboqrx, and Dayboqrx City.  The island that most of the show takes place on is the main island of Dayboqrx City.  326 streets that travel southwest to northeast run through the city, and 22 avenues (12 major and 10 minor) that run northwest to southeast.

In the first episode, the four members of "The Gang" are looking for a place to live in Dayboqrx, as they each gain early admission to Dayboqrx University, in the Connection of Dayboqrx.  They find a large penthouse rented out to them by Lefty Davidson, a man who owns the bar downstairs in the Red Light District of the city, the district located between the streets of 59th and 90th, making it the largest district in all of the city.

The Connection is where the three major Dayboqrx highways meet, the highest volume section of the city. The three highways are:

Asham Boulevard, that runs through North and East Dayboqrx, traveling to major attractions like Dayboqrx A&M University, Myre Park, and Dayboqrx Arena at Dayboqrx State University.

Presidential Boulevard, that runs through the Eastern portion of Dayboqrx. In the northern section of the city, as you travel farther from the Connection, Presidential Boulevard becomes Fashion Avenue (north of 160th Street and south of 243rd Street).

Dayboqrx Pentagon Boulevard, runs around the Golden Pentagon, making it hell for traffic during Rush Hour.  It starts off traveling through the Lower East Side into the pentagon, around East Avenue.  Accidents on the DPB cause horrible delays, some of which extend rush hour as late as 8 pm.  Due to this, the Dayboqrx City governmental administration suggests that when a problem like this occurs, one would use the cities mass transit system.  The 8, P, and T trains run through the Pentagon and can take you wherever you want to go into the city.

The three major highways meet at what is called the Connection, which can be found along 216th St. Just north of the actual Connection is the hallowed campus of Dayboqrx University, the premier higher learning institution of the city. Analogous to what could be close to an Ivy league school, the Dayboqrx University teams has led research of scientific and technological advances that makes it the most highly learned section of the city, which isn't saying much.

There are two premier sporting venues at the Connection on the campus, Vega Coliseum and Lillehammer Arena.

Vega Coliseum is the largest stadium in the entire city, seating 89,000 Xtreme fans (did we mention that the Dayboqrx U. teams are called the Xtreme, and their symbol is a teal and tan penguin?) The Coliseum is used for football, soccer, and baseball. Due to its horrendous nature against opposing teams, with 89,000 screaming fans in close proximity to the field, the stadium has been nicknamed "The Jungle."  Dayboqrx went an undefeated 4-0 in conference games at home last season, allowing a stingy 10 points in those four games.

Lillehammer Arena is a smaller arena, but has state-of-the-art facilities. It is more commonly referred to as "The Arena at the Connection" as it overlooks the Dayboqrx River. It houses the ice hockey and basketball teams.

The Red Light District is where "The Gang" finds housing, because of the unfortunately low land values. If you know anything about Red Light districts, then you should know that it makes very little sense that a group of teenagers would live here, but then again, why should this show make any sense at all.

Another important section of the city revolves around Parque Avenue, and therefore it is called Parque Circle. There are high land values here. I'm sure we will never mention any of this section in the show, so why am I typing this, I should really stop, but yet here I am, still talking about something unimportant...

This is why Dayboqrx is the weirdest city in the world:

Dayboqrx's weather patterns and calendar make it the weirdest place in the world, mainly because we have the power to make things like this, and really, we shouldn't have that kind of power.

In short, there is a giant mountain west of the city, Mt. Dayboqrx. This mountain has eyes on it, so the citizens of Dayboqrx are always being watched. There is a solitary man who lives in the mountain, and he controls all of Dayboqrx's weather. For one, because of the mountain, the sun sets every day at about one in the afternoon, as the mountain is extremely tall. The man in the mountain is so lonely that he is depressed and therefore, controls the weather for the negative. It is either raining or snowing or cloudy almost every day, and this plays directly into some plot lines of ours.  Eh, that wasn’t very short in hindsight, now was it?

Oh, and before I forget, did you notice Dayboqrx isn’t spelled “Day Box” like it should be?  Well, if you’re curious, the Q and the R are both silent, so let’s move on.

The calendar was instituted by a former mayoral administration and consists of ten months of 45 days. There are nine days in a Dayboqrx week, and therefore, five weeks a month. The days are not by any means in the correct order, so let's explain:

The week begins with Premiumday, the most festive day of the week. On this day, the Earth's seven moons (as seen from Dayboqrx, ... we've gone too far haven't we. Never mind).
