The Law and Order: SVU cast from seasons 1 through 5

Christopher Meloni as Det. Elliot Stabler (Seasons 1-?)

Chris Meloni's filmography includes "Oz", "Runaway Bride", "Wet Hot American Summer", and others as well as "SVU". He recorded "Wet Hot American Summer", "SVU" and "Oz" all at the same time. Meloni was born on April 2, 1961 in Washington D.C. Chris is currently married (damn!) and has TWO homes: one in California and one in New York(lucky). He also has two children, a boy and a girl.

Det. Elliot Stabler has four children and a wife for over 17 years (I lost count). he was in the marines when he was younger. Interesting fact: he and his wife, Kathy, had their first child, Maureen, when they were very young. Kathy snuck out of their parents house and got pregnant. I found this out in an episode where Maureen came home late and Elliot freaked. Kathy told him that if she hadn't snuck out of her parents house, they never would have had Maureen.

Mariska Hargitay as Det. Olivia Benson (Seasons 1-?)

Mariska Hargitay is the daughter of actors Jane Mansfeild and Mickey Hargitay. She also has a sister named Zoltan Hargitay. She was born January 23, 1964 in Los Angeles. Her full name is Mariska Magdolina Hargitay. Her mother died when she was only a little girl. Mariska and a sibling were in the car when it crashed killing her mother. Mariksa came out with only a zig-zag scar on her head. She had many guest appearances in "ER" as Cynthia Hooper and starred in the movie "Lake Placid" as well as SVU.

Det. Olivia Benson works on the SVU squad because she is the child of rape. Her mother, Serena Benson, was raped and decided to keep the child. Benson takes a lot of cases to heart and is constantly worried about the "bad blood" that runs through her.

Richard Belzer as Det. John Munch (Seasons 1-?)

Richard Belzer was born on August 4, 1944 in Bridgeport, Conneticut. He was nicknamed "the Belz" and as a child was negleted and abused by his mother (aww poor richard). He has played the same character on five different shows including "Law & Order: SVU", the "X-Files", "Homicide: Life on the Street", the original "Law & Order", and "the Beat".

Det. John Munch has been bounced around a lot of different places and is big on conspiracies. He told Det. Olivia Benson a story of when he was a child in one episode. He was a punk teenager and saw a child that lived across the street from him. His gut told him that something was wrong with that child. Every time he saw that child, its eyes begged for help. One day the child died and the mother was arrested. He said that the mother said that she "didn't understand what the big deal was" because her table needed replacing. John beat himself up for not doing something about it, so maybe that's why he became a cop. To help others when he couldn't help that one.

Dann Florek as Captain Donald "Don" Cragen (Seasons 1-?)

Dann Florek was born on May 1, 1950 in Flatrock, Michigan. His film credits include "L.A. Law", "Hard Rain", the original "Law & Order", and "The Flinstones".

Captain Donald "Don" Cragen is a widowed man. He lost his wife, Marge, to a plane crash. He also was a captain in the homocide unit. He also drinks a lot. He plays golf and other sports to relax.

Ice-T as Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Seasons 2-?)

Ice-T was born in Newark, New Jersey as Tracy Morrow on February 16, 1968. He has two children and has been married since 1986 (wow, that's longer than most celebrity marriages!). He is an actor, artist, and many more job titles. He served in the army for a while as well.

Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola transfered into SVU from Narcotics so he uses hi drug knowlegde to help out a lot. He transfered to SVU because his partner "took a shot that was meant for me. Kinda took all the fun out of it." (Manhunt). He has a son who is around the age of 18. Fin also grew up in the "hood".

Diane Neal as Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak (Seasons 5-?)

Diane Neal was born on November 17, 1976 in Alexandra, Virginia. She guest starred in one episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a villan before landing a permanent job as the new A.D.A. She has guest starred on shows like "Hack" and "Ed". She was in three "Dracula" movies as Elizabeth. She currently resides in New York.

Not much is known about A.D.A Casey Novak. She's a good lawyer, but I know nothing about her life. If anyone could fill me in, that would be great.

B.D. Wong as Dr. George Huang (Seasons 2-?)

B.D. Wong was born Bradley Darryl Wong on the 24th of October in 1962 in San Fransisco, California. His credits include Disney's "Mulan", "Seven Years in Tibet", "Oz", "Father of the Bride part two", and many others including "Law & Order: SVU".

Dr. George Huang is a forensic psychologist with the F.B.I and helps the gang to profile the perps. He was injured once while interviewing a man on death row with Det. Elliot Stabler. He is a very gentle man and gives good advice to his colleagues.

Stephanie March as Assisstant District Attorney Alexandra "Alex" Cabot (Seasons 2-5)

Stephanie March was born July 23rd 1974 in Dallas, Texas. She majored in Latin (hey I took latin too and we share the same name!) at Northwestern University. She is engaged to chef Bobby Flay. He proposed while they were ice skating at the Rockefeller Center on December 19th 2003. She is a relatively new actress. Other than SVU she's been in "Head of State".

Alex Cabot was a very good A.D.A. She got a little too close to one case and was put in contempt of court. She got very close to another case and her life was threatened by a member of the Columbian mob, so the Fed's put her in the Witness Protection Program. The only two that know she's alive is Olivia and Elliot. This happened in the season five episode entitled "Loss".

Dean Winters as Detective Brian Cassidy (Season 1)

Dean Winters was born on July 20th 1964 in New York City. He has Irish and Italian ancestry and is the brother to Scott William Winters (wrote "Oz"), and two other siblings. He spent his teenage years in good ol' Scottsdale, Az (you can all tell where I'm from!) and attended college in Colorado. He starred in "Oz", "Hellraiser: Hellseeker", and "Conspiracy Theory".

Det. Brian Cassidy is a young detective. He was on the squad less than a year before he transferred to Narcotics. He transferred when he had to help a victim who was raped by her father years earlier and then gang raped later in her life. He didn't know all the technical terms so in the middle of season one his partner, John Munch, taught him the terms.

Michelle Hurd as Detective Monique Jeffries (Seasons 1-2)

Michelle Hurd was born on December 21st (year not known) in New York City. She is the daughter of actor Hugh Hurd. She has also starred in "Random Hearts", and "Leap Years".

Det. Monique Jeffries transferred out of SVU because she admitted to a psychiatrist that she has sexual intercourse with a former suspect. She confronted a southern rapist and showed off her nasty side.

Tamara Tunie as Medical Examiner Melinda Warner(Seasons 2-?)

Tamara Tunie was born Tamara Tunie Bouquett on March 14, 1959 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1981. Her film credits include "The Devil's Advocate", "NYPD Blue", "As the World Turns", and made a guest appearance in "24".

M.E. Melinda Warner became the Medical Examiner in "Noncompliance". She has a daughter in her teens and is married. She "doesn't like the cold" so when a body is found in the cold, she sends out an assistant, however, she is very good at her job. She shows compassion toward Fin after he watches a social worker kill herself and toward Olivia when she finds out she may have been exposed to HIV.
