| Keen to discover more about the
proposed Giles spin-off series Joss is allegedly developing with the BBC,
we have been keeping a close eye on on developments. Here's what we discovered:
Firstly, the Ain't It Cool web site reports that Tony Head attended a convention last weekend and confirmed a series was being explored. Tony reportedly claimed the series, provisionally titled of Ripper or Watcher, would deal with ghost stories and inner demons. Joss Whedon had allegedly scripted the first episode already. Joss himself told the Los Angeles Times that the show, "would be a grown-up, quiet show about a cool, grown-up, non-teenage man quietly solving ghost stories." "It would be very different in tone: slower, more like the series already on TV there. But not too British," he added. Whedon claimed he and the regular Buffy writing team would still script the series. A pilot episode would most likely be shot in America before production moved to Britain, allowing Tony more time in the UK. Giles would remain part of the main Buffy series and other members of the cast have expressed interest in making guest appearances should the project reach fruition. |
