Ninja Storm DVD Release

Amazon.com has a new Power Rangers DVD coming out entitled 'Prelude To A Storm' from the first episode of NS of the same name. Since the past VHS release have included several episodes, the DVD here will probably have a few more shows on it. More as it comes.

Ninja Storm Nameplay

Since the newest of the Power Rangers franchises is an attempt to rejuvinate the show, it has been mentioned in several newspapers. Of these, two that have come up on Power Ranger newsboards and sites. You can read the Boston Globe and New York Times arcticles here. This next part is strictly my opinion. I think in an effort to "revamp" the show, they have dumbed it down. There was dissension among the ranks, maybe even moreso in past series. Disney Channel's executive VP says this: "What we're trying to do is put the series creatively on the highest plane we can." How creative is it to have the Rangers say "dude" every five words. In another instance, the Boston Globe arcticle says that in the past few years the show has ditched stories in favor of action packed fights.... and how has this been elleviated in Ninja Storm? Stories were first place in shows like Time Force. This is not to say I don't like Ninja Storm; its a fair show on its own merrit. But I don't think it deserves to be billed as the best thing since sliced bread, and definitly not as superior to the past seven or eight seasons of Power Rangers.

Real Music in Ninja Storm

This isn't really news but I felt it is worth mentioning. In episode four, 'Looming Thunder', during a scene ar the Storm Chargers store where the Rangers meet Blake and Hunter a Relient K song was playing in the background. Relient K is a Christian rock band known for their outrageous lyrics and spiritual themes. The song playing is called 'Pressing On' from their album 'The Anatomy of the Tongue and Cheek'. This is somewhat significant as in the past Power Rangers has not used that much music outside the groups that do music just for the show (Mighty Raw, Super Power). Keep watching Ninja Storm to see if any more "real" music pops up.
