SVU Squad Room

"What are you doing here?" Elliot walked in to see Maureen leaning against his desk. Before she could answer, Elliot spoke again, "Are you checking up on your old man?"

"No, Daddy." Maureen gave him a kiss. "I am actually here to talk to Olivia."

"And how does Olivia rate a special visit and I don't?" Elliot joked.

"Girl stuff," Maureen answered as she stood next to his desk.

Olivia came around the corner. "Hey." She walked up the Maureen and her partner. "Did you come by to see your dad?" Olivia took a seat at her desk.

"She came by to see you," Elliot butted in first.

"Me?" Olivia was surprised.

"Yeah. I was hoping we could have lunch?" Maureen asked.

Olivia glanced over at her partner.

"Go. I can handle this." Elliot shifted some papers on his desk.

"Ok." Olivia got up from her chair.

"Do you need some money?" Elliot asked his daughter.

"No. I have my own money." She replied.

Maureen and Olivia took a seat in the restaurant.

"What's going on?" Olivia asked as she looked over at Maureen.

"Remember that night at your apartment when I told you about Joel?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I haven't had a period since then."

"You haven't had..." Olivia lowered her voice. "...a period. That has been a couple of months."

"I know." Maureen sat there frozen. "I don't know what to do."

"Have you taken a pregnancy test?"

"I can't get any privacy at the house. Besides, if mom sees it..."

"Ok. Here is what we will do." Olivia stared over at the scared girl before she continued, "Can you come over to my apartment tomorrow morning?"

"Yeah."

"Ok, early morning is the best for the test."

"I bet I can stay the night. Would that be ok?"

"Sure."

"If the test is positive or negative you should probably still get into see a doctor."

"I can't go to *my* doctor. What if mom and dad find out?"

"I will get you in with mine but if you father finds out I helped you, *we* are both dead."

"I know." Maureen wiggled in her seat.

The waitress brought them something to drink and took their order. Then the two began talking again.

"What am I going to do, Olivia?"

"Well, you are either going to be a mother or not."

"I know that is what scares me." Maureen glanced back the detective across from her. "We used protection."

"You have to use more than just a condom. They can break."

"I know. I have heard this lecture in school."

"I'm not going to give you a lecture."

"Thanks." A small smile formed on Maureen's lips.

"Besides, you are not the only one that has had a pregnancy scare." Olivia could see a relief lift from the girl's shoulders when she told her that.

The waitress gave them their food and they changed the subject while they ate.

Olivia returned to work and found Elliot sitting at his desk.

"So, what did my daughter have to say that was girl talk?"

"She likes a boy at school and wanted some advice." Olivia took a seat at her desk. "What did I miss here?"

"Nothing." Elliot handed her some paperwork.

A week later

Olivia cell phone rang. "Benson."

"Olivia."

"Hey Maureen."

"I just got back from the doctor's."

"And?"

"I'm not pregnant. It was a false positive."

"That's good."

"He thinks I have been under a lot of stress and that is why I haven't started."

"Well, I would say you have been."

"Yeah. Anyway, I wanted to thank you for the help and I will talk to you later."

"Ok. You're welcome."

"Bye." Maureen hung up the phone.

Elliot turned to his partner. "Now she calls you instead of me?"

"The advice worked." Olivia shrugged her shoulders and continued to walk next to him.

"I guess I am going to learn how to give advice." Elliot laughed.

Olivia looked over at him. "Learn how to give good advice." Olivia bumped her arm next to his.

SVU squad room
Two Weeks Later

Elliot walked up to Olivia's desk. "We need to talk." He headed out of the squad room.

Olivia got up from her chair and followed him out. "What is it?" Olivia asked as she caught up with him.

Elliot paced back and forth. "I got an appointment to talk to a shrink."

"That's great." Olivia watched him pace. "When?" Watching him made her nervous, she reached out to touch him but he pulled back.

"Not here." Elliot glanced up to see if anyone was watching.

"Elliot, you are getting paranoid." Olivia looked around. "Nobody is going to know what we are talking about." Olivia grabbed his hand. She spun him around so that he faced her. "They probably think we are talking about a case." She let go of his hand before he really freaked out on her.

"I just feel like everyone knows."

"Calm down. Who is the shrink?"

"Dr. Miller. He is off of 42nd street."

"What time?" She walked closer to him.

He looked at his watch. "6."

"Tonight?"

"Yeah." Elliot shook his head.

"I am going with you."

"You don't have too."

"I'm going. I am the one that wanted you to go, and I am going. Besides, we are partners."

Elliot looked up at her and smiled.

"I missed that smile." Olivia grinned at him.

Fin walked up to them. "Hey, they found our perp."

"Let's go." Elliot glanced over to his partner then over to Fin.

Fin headed back in the squad room to find Munch.

"You think he knows." Elliot whispered toward Olivia as he held the elevator.

"No." Olivia stepped the elevator. Fin and Munch were not far behind them.

42nd street
Dr. Miller's office
6 PM

Olivia and Elliot sat in the waiting room. Olivia flipped through a magazine while Elliot's leg bounced around in front of her.

"Calm down." Olivia put her hand on his knee.

"Sorry. I'm just a little nervous here."

"You think?" Olivia laid the magazine down and stared into eyes.

The doctor came to the door. "Elliot Stabler."

Elliot looked over at his partner. He stood from his seat. Olivia got up and stood next to him. She took his hand and they walked into his office together.

"Have a seat." Dr. Miller pointed to the couch. "What can I help you with?"

The detectives took a seat on the couch. Elliot glanced back at Olivia. "I have a temper and I need help with it." Elliot looked back at Dr. miller.

"I see." Dr. Miller stared over at Olivia. "And you are?"

"His partner. I came for moral support."

"Elliot, I realize that police officers don't like to visit me, but I assure you that this conversation stays here." Dr. Miller could tell Elliot was very nervous and probably didn't want to be there in the first place.

Elliot gazed over at Olivia. She shook her head yes. Elliot turned back to Dr. Miller. "Ok, this conversation stays here."

"That's right."

"Here is the thing. I have a bad temper and I promised my partner I would get some help. So, can you help me or not?"

"I can show you some techniques that can help calm you but you have to do the rest." Dr. Miller explained. "May ask why your partner is so interested in this? Do you feel...?" Dr. Miller turned toward Olivia.

"No, I don't feel threatened if that is where you are going with this." Olivia quickly spoke.

Elliot took her hand. "My partner and I have been dating for a while." Elliot placed their hands into his lap and held it close to his chest. "I love her."

"Oh, I see." Dr. Miller began to write on his note pad. "This often happens between partners."

"We haven't told anyone yet because one of us will have to give up our job that we both love." Elliot went on to explain their situation. Dr. Miller continued to listen to him talk.

******

Elliot and Olivia walked out of his office after an hour. He opened the door for Olivia. "I think that went well."

"I told you it would."

Olivia drove them to her apartment. Elliot walked her up. "So what are we going to do?" Elliot followed her in her apartment.

"Should we tell the captain we are dating?" Olivia faced him.

"If it is okay with you, can we just not tell him?" Elliot pulled her up into his embrace.

"Fine with me. I just don't want us to get tired of seeing each other at work then come home to each other."

"I don't feel that way." Elliot kissed her.

"I am not getting tired of you either, but I hear people talking about that happening to them after a while. I just don't want us to be that couple." Olivia pulled back to look at him.

Elliot led her to the couch. "You realize we can't move in with each other either."

"I know. I guess we will wait and see what kind of toll it puts on us before one of us to decides to quit." Olivia laid her head against his chest.

Elliot's House
Saturday morning

Olivia was washing dishes when Elliot came up behind her. He wrapped his arms around her. Elliot kissed the back of neck.

"What are you doing?" Olivia instinctively raised her shoulders so that they touched her neck.

"Kissing you." Elliot replied as he turned her to face him.

Olivia wiped her hands on a towel then wrapped her arms around his neck. Elliot leaned in and gave her a kiss. While they were kissing the kids came in.

"Where's dad?" Dickie asked.

"I don't know," Elizabeth replied as she set down her bag.

Maureen and Kathleen walked toward the kitchen. "I found dad." Kathleen spoke they stood there watching them kiss.

"He's in the kitchen kissing his partner." Maureen smirked.

"Kissing who?" Dickie walked up to his sisters.

Kathleen rolled her eyes. "Olivia."

"Olivia is here?" Elizabeth meet the other three standing there, staring into the kitchen.

Olivia broke loose from Elliot. She turned her back to them and went back to the dishes.

"Uh. We were going to tell you this weekend that we are dating." Elliot pointed at Olivia and back at him.

"Cool." Maureen walked up to Olivia. "Thank you." Maureen whispered.

Olivia rinsed her hands and turned back around to face the four children.

"How long have you been dating?" Maureen piped up first.

"This is awesome." Elizabeth walked over to the table and took a seat.

"I take it they are all right with this." Elliot looked over at Olivia.

"Why wouldn't we?" Maureen asked as she grabbed a glass from the cabinet.

"There is just one thing." Elliot gathered them around the table.

"What is it, Dad?" Dickie finally spoke.

"We have to keep this a secret. Can you do that?" Elliot asked them.

They are shook their heads. "Why?" Dickie asked again.

"'Cause of our work." Elliot rubbed the top of Dickie's head. "We want to keep our jobs." Olivia walked up to Elliot. He pulled her against him again. "Do you think you can do that for your father?"

"Yeah." They all spoke at one time.

"So you want us to lie?" Dickie glanced up at his dad.

"Not really a lie. Just don't talk about it." Elliot looked down his son.

"I don't know, that may cost you." Dickie looked back down at the table.

"How much?" Elliot asked.

"Just kidding dad but since you were willing to pay, how much is it worth to you?" Dickie stared up at his dad.

"A couple of dollars." Elliot joked as he rubbed the top of Dickie's head.

"Funny. Very funny." Dickie got up from the table.

"Since you already know about Olivia, what shall we do today?"

"Play football," Dickie piped up.

"You always want to play football," Maureen replied.

"Then we could watch football," Dickie suggested.

"We could just hang out," Elizabeth said.

"I have a wonderful idea. Why don't we go ice skating at Rockefeller Center?" Olivia looked around the room.

"Sounds good to me," Elliot agreed.

"Sure. We haven't done that in a long while." Maureen commented.

Everyone got their things ready and headed to the car. Before Elliot and Olivia got to the car, Elliot stopped Olivia. "Why do you think the kids took the news so well?"

"Maybe it is because I'm such a nice person?" Olivia smirked.

Rockefeller Center

Elliot helped Olivia get her skates on. Then they headed out on the ice. Elliot took Olivia's hand and they skated around close to the edge. The kids took turns coming by and checking on them.

"We're fine," Elliot finally told Dickie who came by three times.

"Just checking. You haven't moved in a while," Dickie said.

"I am having to help your father." Olivia laughed as she tried to let go of Elliot's hand and watched him fall to the ice.

"Ok so I'm not the best skater in the world." Elliot grumbled, reaching out for help.

Olivia took his hand and helped him to his feet. "Hang on to the rail." Olivia placed his hand on the rail. "Watch me." She broke loose from Elliot and skated a little ways before she came back to him. "Try it. One foot at a time."

Elliot held on to the rail and placed one foot in front of the other like Olivia showed him. "Hey, I'm doing it."

"Good. Let go of the rail." Olivia coached him.

Elliot let go and moved a little ways before hitting the ice again. Olivia couldn't help but laugh. She helped him to his feet again.

The girls came up to them. "Dad, try this." They skated around in circles.

"I can't do that." Elliot assured them.

"Try it." Elizabeth told him.

"I think I will just sit over there and watch." Elliot moved to a bench.

"Come on, Olivia." The girls took off skating.

"Go on." Elliot said as he waved his hands in the air.

Olivia reached over and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "I'll be back." Olivia caught up with the kids. Elliot watched them for a while.

After a while Olivia joined Elliot on the bench. "Lonely?" She asked as she moved closer to him.

"Nah, too busy people watching." Elliot turned his head to look at her.

"What are you are seeing?"

"See that guy over there in the blue shirt with that little girl."

"Yeah."

"I don't think that is his daughter."

"Why?"

"He looks like a perp." Elliot kept his attention on the guy.

"I think the job is getting to you," Olivia whispered.

"The job is always getting to me." Elliot looked over at Olivia. "I just want keep the kids safe. Maybe we should round up the kids and go."

"If you are ready?" Olivia stood up from the bench. "I'll go get them." Olivia stepped out on the ice and skated over to the kids. They began heading toward Elliot one by one.

"Come on dad, can we stay a little longer?" Elizabeth asked.

"Yeah. I was having fun," Dickie piped up. Everyone turned to look at him. "What I couldn't have fun?"

"It's just you like more rough sports than this," Kathleen responded.

"Come on dad, what do you say, a little longer?" Maureen asked this time.

Elliot couldn't resist they faces. "Ok, one more hour, and that is it." The kids split in separate directions and left Olivia and Elliot there.

"Come on baby, I will skate with you." Olivia held out her hand toward him.

"Nah, I'm not good."

"I like to skate with you cause I like you," Olivia grinned.

"Since you put it that way." Elliot got to his feet and they headed out on the ice again.

While they were skating, Elliot held onto a rail and faced Olivia. "So are you going to tell me why you and Maureen are such big buddies now?"

"What do you mean?" Olivia arched an eyebrow.

"She came to your apartment when her and Kathy had a fight, She has come by to see you for lunch, and she was a little excited about us dating. Does any of this sound familiar?"

"We have just bonded."

"And you said you wouldn't make a good mother." Elliot rolled his eyes at her.

Olivia shoved lightly and he fell to the ice.

"Hey!"

"I'm sorry." Olivia laughed as she helped Elliot to his feet.

"Why did you push me?"

"I'm sorry. I really am." Olivia tried not to laugh anymore but she couldn't resist.

"So, I guess that means you are not going to answer me."

"I answered you."

"That was not a real answer." Elliot had a death grip on the rail as he moved his feet one at a time.

"We just had some similar problems and I was able to help her out with them."

"Her mother's not an alcoholic."

Olivia huffed and skated off to leave him where he stood.

"Olivia...wait!" Elliot yelled out after her. He tried to move faster but fell to his knees. "Damn." He tried to pick himself up but fell everytime. Elliot looked up to see Olivia holding her hand out. "You came back." Elliot smiled up at her.

"I thought you could use some help." Olivia helped him to his feet again and they headed to the closest bench. "I can't really tell you exactly what happen between Maureen and me but I can tell you that we now have a bond through a boy problem." Olivia helped Elliot sit on the bench.

"I guess that will have to do."

"Would you want me to tell someone dear to you about something you told me in confidence?" Olivia looked over her partner.

"No."

"Ok then."

Elliot reached over and took her hand into his. "Thank you."

"For what?"

"Being there for my daughter. I would rather it be you then someone else."

"Really? You are not just saying that."

"Yeah, cause I know you would really help her, anyone else just might be out to harm her." Elliot kept holding her hand while they sat on the bench until the kids were ready to go.

***

An hour later, everyone headed to the car, and Elliot drove them home. The kids headed up to their rooms and left the adults alone.

"So, what do you want to do?" Olivia faced Elliot.

"We could make out?"

"With the kids upstairs, I think not." Olivia headed toward the couch.

Elliot quickly joined her. "How about a movie?" Elliot grabbed the movie.

"Sure." Olivia yawned.

"Tired, honey?" Elliot pulled her closer to him.

"A little." Olivia fell against his shoulder. It wasn't long she fell asleep. Elliot didn't move. He wanted to keep her close to him.

Maureen came down stairs and saw her father and Olivia asleep on the couch. She went over there and placed a blanket over them and turned off the TV. She headed back up the stairs, turning the lights off on her way to her room.
