“Brady wait!!” Chloe hysterically ran out of the party and into the parking lot searching frantically for Brady’s jeep. Much to her dismay it was not there. She sighed as she pulled out her cell phone to call a cab and then went to a bench and waited. Thoughts of their dance and the lyrics filled her mind. He had said the song was about them. As she softly sang the lyrics to the desolate parking lot, comprehending the meaning, tears filled her eyes. He had admitted his ‘crush’ earlier and then he tried to kiss her. The kiss—oh it was so sweet and simple, yet filled with so much passion. She hadn’t wanted it to end, hadn’t wanted to be any other place then in his arms at that moment, but the kiss did end. “He must think that is all I want to be, if he only knew.” She looked up, wiping away her tears as she quickly got into the cab.

Brady pulled into the apartment parking lot and walked up the 15 floors to the penthouse in an attempt to free himself from his pain. By the time he reached his door and slowly opened it, thoughts of Chloe were penetrating his mind incessantly. That kiss—he had felt her passion, he knew he was not imagining it. Why then did she pull away as if nothing had happened? The song they had danced to, of all songs, had to be one that described them so perfectly. They both shared common feelings yet that was not enough for her. She had asked him to dance and he, like a fool in love, obliged. He knew it was wrong to run away but the pain of rejection was far worse when she had actually known his feelings. All the other times he had convinced himself that she didn’t know, was unaware of the deep feelings he held. He threw down his keys on the side table and walked toward the shower.

Chloe hit the 15th floor on the elevator and impatiently tapped her fingers on the railing. What was she going to say? How was he going to react? She knew he liked her, that was not the problem, yet she was still scared to death. After what seemed like hours, but in actuality was a few seconds, the elevator doors flew open and Chloe began to the short walk to the Black door. She lifted her hand to knock and after a moment of hesitation she did. There was no answer but Chloe knew he was here, she had seen his jeep in the parking lot. She pounded louder and began to scream his name, “Brady? BRADY? Please, it’s me, Chloe, I need to talk to you—Brady!” She sighed in defeat and slowly turned toward the elevator and hit the down button.

Brady was lost in his thoughts in the shower when a deep pounding awakened him. Quickly grabbing a towel he proceeded to walk toward the door. As he approached the beating stopped and he contemplated turning around to finish his shower but something stopped him as he reached for the doorknob.

The elevator doors opened and Chloe put one foot in when she heard his voice, “Chloe?” He spoke softly as her head spun around, revealing a very wet Brady wrapped only in a small towel.

“Brady!” she replied hoarsely, shocked at the sight before her, as walked toward him.

“What are you----“

Chloe reached for Brady’s face, cupped his face in her hands and pulled him into an embrace. He met her lips reluctantly but was instantly melted into hers. They stood, in the hallway, devouring each other when Chloe pulled away hesitantly.

“What?” He placed his forehead on hers, his breath sending shivers down her body.

“Ummm, I think you should go change, what if someone comes home.”

Brady peered down at his towel and blushed slightly, “Oh, yeah you’re right—do you want to come in.”

She bit her lower lip and nodded enthusiastically. She followed him into the house and toward his bedroom. He walked, a few steps in front of her, with a smile upon his face as he realized that she was following him toward his room the words of the song piercing his mind,

‘You shouldn't kiss me like this unless you mean it like that
Cause I'll just close my eyes and I won't know where I'm at
We'll get lost on this dance floor spinning around
And around and around and around
They're all watching us now they think we're falling in love
They'd never believe we're just friends
When you kiss me like this I think you mean it like that
If you do baby kiss me again

“Chloe?” He spun around at his door pulling her into a tight embrace and whispering in her ear, “Thank you for kissing me again.”

The End!
