THIS WEEK

The Department faces a bomber with a lot of leverage; Tension grows within the SWAT Team.

Detective Name Morris walks into his office at the Downtown Police HQ in Trenton, New Jersey. Morris works for the NJPD State Police. He starts to fill out paperwork, when his riding partner, Keith Adams, walks in with a message, "Psycho, we got problems." Psycho, as Morris is commonly called, asks why. Keith explains that a bomb just went off somewhere downtown. Psycho and Keith go to Psycho's car to examine the site. They quickly hop in the '99 Skyline, and then haul ass.

In an old business building a few blocks away from the great explosion, an unidentified man tells someone on the other end of his cell phone that the police will arrive at the site shortly.

SWAT Team Captain Wally Gibbs prepares weapons for another day's work. His six-man team (not including him) eats a light breakfast when a call comes in from Chief Glen Fury. Gibbs answers it. A bomb just exploded at Harry's Produce Store. The situation is under control, but Fury wants Gibbs to keep his team on high alert.

Psycho and Keith arrive at the scene with some units there already. It is a small produce store, but the entire shop is decimated. Both cops are in awe. Psycho gets back in the car, and Keith asks what's on his mind. Psycho just tells him that they need to get back to the station...it's gonna be hell in the city soon. Especially since crime rates were extremely down all through June. The public won't like this a bit.
As the Skyline burns rubber away from the scene, Officer Dave Henderson investigates how precise the bomb was - not a square inch of anything other than the produce store was affected by the blast. Having seen many things in his carrer, Henderson smells trouble. Suddenly, he spots something else. Officer Linda Wilkins is also at the scene, but in her car across the street, talking on the radio. Then, Henderson radios to her that he needs to show her something. She says she's busy on the radio, but she has time. She gets out of her Crown Victoria and walks over to Henderson. But he is not there. She walks around the sizzling ground, but Henderson has gone somewhere. Suddenly, shots ring out.

An increased amount of units are at the scene now. The press is swamping the area, civilians are getting frantic, and Chief Fury is present at the scene. An officer walks up to him and gives the report: precesion bombing, Officer Henderson missing, Officer Wilkins wounded. Fury is shocked by the scene. He hopes this was a one-time deal, but knows it is not. A homicide detective on the scene tells the chief that the action is over, and the area is secure. Evidence is being collected.

The man we saw earlier on the telephone gets into his car, a black Civic with dark tinted windows. He gets on his phone and tells "Alex" to go to the drop off.

The SWAT Team goes through a hostage situation drill for practice. They make a mistake, but pull out of it. While Gibbs coordinates the team through the final stages of the drill, his cell phone rings. He tells the team to hold their position. On the phone, Fury briefs Gibbs on the situation at Harry's Produce Store. Gibbs is stunned. But before he can respond, he sees movement of his team on the cameras. He tells Fury he will call back. He screams at his team to hold their positions, but they go in anyway. Fictional chaos erupts, and the team fails the drill. Gibbs runs toward the practice site. Meanwhile, some team members argue over what went wrong.

Psycho is in his office typing on his computer, and Adams is watching the small TV, which gives details on the events that unfolded at Harry's. Adams questions the lack of demands from anyone laying claim to the attack. Psycho says to be patient. He is researching bomb types, but can find none that match that of the type used at Harry's.

One of the men who played as a terrorist brags about how easy it was to outsmart the team at the end. One member, Joseph Carter, pins it on Brian Peterson, who returns the accusation with words. The two curse at each other, and soon, a fight breaks out. Some remaining team members join in, others try to break it up. Gibbs runs in with an assistant, gets some good shots off at people, and stops the quarrel. Everyone is in dead silence.

At a hospital in Trenton, Dr. Martin calls Chief Fury and tells him that Officer Last took two shots in the right leg, but she will be just fine. Fury is not comforted. He asks when she will be able to walk again. Martin says not for a few months. Fury thanks Dr. Martin and hangs up. He throws his phone across the room in rage.

The entire SWAT Team and role-players is assembled for a meeting. Gibbs is speaking. He grills the team on how they have been the elite Special Weapons And Tactics Team in New Jersey for a long time, and they may have just lost a lot of prestige. Looking specifically at certain members, he stresses how important it is to follow orders. Either you obey or your dead. He says they will try again, but rearange some minor details. "It will basically be the same drill; For your sake, I hope it's not the same outcome."

At Police HQ, Chief Fury, Psycho, Adams, and other high-ranking cops assemble in a room. Before Fury speaks, Gibbs comes rushing in. He says there was an issue with the SWAT Team, but assures everyone that it is fine. Fury, seeing everyone present, stands. He informs everybody that someone called 911 about ten minutes ago claiming responsibility for the bomb. Psycho gives Adams a look. The caller advised the Department to keep on their toes, and promised to call back. Fury plays the tape so all can hear. Psycho inputs his opinion, "Well, obviously we have to set up a trace for when he calls, and I suggest you put some units on stand by, including a bomb squad." Fury doesn't really think the bomber would set off another without making demands, but Psycho replies, "Trust me, Glen, I've seen everything. And if there's one thing I've learned it's to be prepared for anything." Fury nods, and Psycho runs out with Adams to assemble units, including themselves. Fury asks the head technician to set up a trace for when they get the call. He then turns to Gibbs, and asks if anyone on his team knows how to disarm a bomb. Gibbs says that Wallace has some limited knowledge. Fury thinks for a moment, then orders Gibbs to assemble his team and have them ready to move the second that either the trace is completed, or they get another bomb location.
Psycho and Adams hop into the Skyline, located in the parking lot. Adams asks how the bomb research went. Psycho says he didn't find anything, but doesn't know enough details to be able to pinpoint an exact match. Adams says, "But aren't you supposed to start out with a lot of matches, then narrow it down? I mean, we're starting off with nothing." Psycho thinks about it, but does not have an answer for his partner. Suddenly, he hears a ring. He and Adams put on headphones, and look at the technical equipment located inside the car. They listen in to the conversation. Fury answers the phone with a "Hello?" A mysterious voice comes in. "Well, you have received your wake up call, now you will receive your test. Another bomb, similar to the one set off at Harry's, has been placed somewhere in Downtown Trenton. I will give you five minutes to assemble units." The man hung up. Technicians report that they couldn't get a trace, just narrowed it down to the fact that the caller is somewhere either in or near Trenton. Fury tells all availible units to be ready to move anywhere in Trenton, including Gibb's SWAT Team. He orders Psycho go get a head start, and start patroling the area, looking for anything. Psycho gives the okay, and then peels out of the lot.

As units await further instructions, Fury gets a call. Before he can say a word, the same voice comes back. "The bomb is located on 32nd Street, between the corners of 17th and 19th, on the north side of the street. You have ten minutes before the explosion." He hung up. Fury told all units to block off that area, and to start looking.

Psycho was patroling on 35th Street, and was three blocks away from the corner of 32nd and 17th. He radios that he will check the first building from west to east.
The SWAT Team prepares in the back of their veichle. Gibbs tells the team to expect little or no resistance, and to give a quick but thorough search. "I know we haven't had many bomb threats, but there aren't any bomb squads availible, so it's on us." Just then, Fury gets on the radio with all units, stating that there are four buildings that meet the bomber's criteria for a location: Two banks and two business buildings. Three are relatively small, but one business building is twenty stories high. Gibbs and his team are ordered to search the twenty-story area.

Psycho brings his car to a stop in front of a bank on the corner of 32nd and 17th. Him and Adams barge in with their badges showing and guns raised. Psycho orders everyone against the wall. He searches one side of the building, while Adams searches another. Adams clears his area, and Psycho clears his. On the radio, Psycho reports, "Commerce Bank on corner of 32nd and 17th secure; Eight minutes remaining. We're moving on to the small business building."
Gibbs leads his team into the building. He orders a man at the front desk to send an all-call for everyone to go to the closest room and stay there - A SWAT Team is sweeping the building. Gibbs breaks the team up, and tells each man to search three stories, except for Peterson who will search the top two.

Some units arrive at Bank of America on the corner of 19th and 32nd. They begin to sweep the building, but find nothing. Fury radios that they have six minutes to go.

As Psycho is patroling the first story of the business building, Adams completes his sweep of the third. He spots something suspicious, but brushes it off and meets up with Psycho on the second story. They begin to carry out a quick sweep, when Peterson gets on the radio. "Calling all units, calling all units." Everyone stops and listens. "The bomb is on the ninteenth story of the large business building at the corner of 18th and 32nd. It's underneath a desk in an executive office, southeast corner of the building." Everyone responds to the message.
Wallace runs up the steps to the ninteenth story. She finds Peterson there and takes a look at the bomb. It looks fairly simple, but the clock readout of 4:14 to go does not comfort her.

In his office, Fury receives another phone call. "Yeah, it's Fury." "Chief," says the bomber, "I am disappointed in your decision-making. I notice you have located the bomb, and are disarming it. Am I correct?" "Yeah." "I'm sorry, but you should have gotten a bomb squad. You know, to handle bombs. You are about to make a very big mistake."

Psycho waits outside the building. He is conferring with Adams when his cell phone rings. It's Fury. Fury has Psycho look around the area for anybody suspicious, and keep on his toes. He does not tell him about the call.
As Wallace works on the bomb, Gibbs asks if he can disarm it in time (3 minutes remaining). She says it seems slightly complicated, but once she figures out the configuration, she should be able to get it. Suddenly, the bomb starts beeping, and everyone backs off the bomb. The beeping elevates, and then stops. Gibbs notices the clock has stopped at 2:43. He radios the news. Psycho is confused. Then, he looks across the street at a civilian. He is carrying a remote control of some sort and pointing it at the building. "Hey! Get over here!" he yells, but the man runs. Psycho gets in his car, then gets on the radio to report the man.

Fury orders a sweep of the building again, but Gibbs says it will do no good with less than a minute remaining. Then, the small business building goes up in flames. The bright explosion blinds everyone for a moment. The building turns into a raging inferno. Psycho turns a corner with his car then gets on the radio. "Guys, I lost him."

On their way back to the station, Adams confesses that he saw something in the building that got bombed. Psycho says he should have said something. He says there is work to do, so they will discuss it later. In the meantime, they agree to keep it under raps best they can.

Fury and Gibbs talk in Fury's office. The bombings are all over the news. Gibbs questions why Fury didn't bring in a bomb squad. But Fury gets a break when he is called to the entrance of the building. He has a visitor. It is Officer Henderson. Fury asks what happened. Henderson explains he was knocked out the whole time, but as he got to leave, a masked man gave him a tape. Fury calls in Psycho to his office.

The tape was from the same man who called earlier. It was a very short message: "Now that my message is clear, I will make a statement. I am in possesion of six more bombs. Three of which I am holding, two are in transportation, and one is ready to be detonated at any moment. If you would like me to confirm this, don't put it past me. Now to business, if you wish to stop any more chaos in New Jersey, you must meet my demands. For a down payment, I require $200,000. For now, just get the money ready. I will call you in three days for placement of the money." Everyone was silenced. As usual, Psycho was first to speak up. "Well, after what I've seen today, I don't see any way around it. I'd start assembling the money." Fury asks if there are any more leads to follow up on. Psycho says he'll contact a bomb specialist and try to find a match on what type of bomb is being used.

After everyone leaves, Adams is called to Fury's office. Fury asks Adams if he saw anything suspicious when he and Psycho were sweeping the bomb site. Adams says no. Fury thanks him, and Adams walks away quickly. Meanwhile, a TV in Fury's office shows people criticizing Chief Fury for not assembling bomb squads to handle the situation and claiming it caused the entire operation to fail. Fury shuts off the TV.
