Daydreams, part II
by Danii

Wolf had been rejected. Rejected by his girl. And now he was supposed to be working for the queen. This was bad, he reflected, very bad. He was so hurt, and he really didn't know what to do. And now he was sitting on the back of a hay wagon, following Virginia for who knows what reason. While he was SUPPOSED to be following her for the queen, he knew he was really just following her to be near her. No matter what, he knew, he would never do anything to hurt Virginia, even if she did hate him so much she wished he was dead.

But what was he to do? The queen thought he was working for her, and he had no idea what Virginia thought (other than that she hated him) and he was sitting on a hay wagon, unsure and sitting on something uncomfortable. What was he to do?

It then came to him in a flash. His friends in that other place. He still had an awareness of that place, that strange, chocolate-loving mind, but he had pushed it back into the depths of his mind. Now, he pulled it back out and dove right in.

"I see you're back. You can always tell when one of us is completely here, or just slightly," said Nick, who had, it seemed, become Wolf's guide in this bizarre place. He was smiling at the newbie, but he stopped when he saw Wolf's face.

"What's wrong?" Nick asked, very concerned, "If it's angst, I'll tell you this: let it go! I learned that the hard way..."

"No! No!" said Wolf, pushing Nick away, "It's not that..."

"Did you kill your best friend in an abandoned subway station?" asked Duncan, who had sat up at Wolf's appearance.

"No."

"Wreck someone's car?" asked Benton.

"No. Not that I know what a car is..."

"Did you get a chip implanted in you that took away your vampi-I mean, manhood?" asked Spike.

"No. And how can a wood chip do that?"

"Did you try to get between your best friend and a crazy lady who was sucking the life out of him every time they touched?" asked Tommy.

"Huh?"

"Don't ask..." mumbled Tommy, who had put his head down.

"Did you turn out to be half-demon?" asked Doyle.

"NO!" yelled Wolf, "Virginia dumped me!"

Everyone of them in the room raised his eyebrows, then lowered their heads in pity.

"Wow..." they said in what was very close to a chorus, "Too bad."

"Yes," said Wolf, a little aggrivated, "Too bad!"

"I understand ticked girlfriends," said Angel. "I went bad for a while, and she sent me to hell! Then again, I was trying to start Armageddon..."

"And not only that, but now the evil queen, Virginia's MOTHER, thinks I'm working for her to kill Virginia!"

"Wow..." again the chorus.

"Yeah! So, masterminds of the multiverse, what am I supposed to do?" asked Wolf, who looked a bit excited. His eyes were flashing unconsciously.

"Well," said Nick, walking around the half-wolf, "You can do two things: One, wait for a fanfic and hope that the Author fixes everything-"

"Don't like that idea!" said Wolf, "I mean, have you seen what she's been doing to me? Killing people, being best friends with THE HUNTSMAN! I thought you guys said she was NICE!"

"She is very nice," injected Benton in a polite tone, "However, she is merely testing her wings with these recent stories. She is unfamiliar with you. She'll start with the kinder things soon. Besides, didn't you notice the majority of here aren't human? She kinda likes when people flip out. Something Freudian about that, but I have an Inuit song stuck in my head so I can't really think of what exactly it is, but, considering your actions in the Peeps' Village, can you blame her?"

Wolf quieted at that. He also wondered as to the grammar and coherency of the statement.

"Anyway," said Tommy, "back to your problem! Nick, what was the other idea you had?"

"Well," said Nick, still pacing, "You could meet back up with Virginia, stay with her, then when the confrontation starts, pretend you are working for the queen, then destroy the plan from the inside. Then, you save her, and she loves you forever because you're a brave, honorable hero!"

"That's a great plan!" excalimed Wolf, who then began bouncing, "How did you ever think of that?"

"I learned it a few Valentine's days ago..." answered Nick vaguely, "But the 'loves you forever' part didn't work because I had to hypnotize her into forgetting..."

"Too bad," said Duncan, "Forever is a long time to-"

"Oh no, another flashback!" cried Spike, getting up from his seat in a flash, "I can't stand those bloody things." And Spike promptly kicked Duncan back into reality.

"Ouch!" they both exclaimed.

Wolf looked to Nick in confusion. Nick, who was grinning, mouthed the words "tell you later" to the bewildered half-wolf.

"Anyway," proclaimed Tommy once more, "Let's make a really good plan here, then Wolf can do everything right!"

And they did...

"Wolf, I thought-" Virginia started.

"I know..."

"How did you ever-" She began again.

"You'd never believe me..."
