Warlock2K

by April

"Prue!" Phoebe yelled forcefully. A distant reply came from Prue's bedroom. "PHONE!!!" Phoebe screamed again. Prue dashed through the house in her nighties and snatched up the portable phone. "Hello?" she said impatiently. There was silence. "Hello?" Prue repeated starting to get annoyed. "Prue." Bellowed a masculine but playful voice. "Jack?" Prue questioned. A thin chuckle was her response. "Well Prue, I was wondering if you wanted possibly to join me for dinner this Friday..." Prue rolled her eyes. "Can't you take a hint Jack? No I do not want to. Besides, I've got to a ton of stuff to do for New Year's Eve. We only have about two weeks!" "Are you sure?" responded a disappointed voice. "YES!" Prue cried. "Goodbye Jack, I'll see you at work tomorrow." With that Prue hung up the phone and strolled into the kitchen. "Man Prue did you HAVE to put him down again?" Phoebe whined. Prue turned toward her. "No, but I'm still kinda annoyed about that twin thing he did to me!" She said smartly. "So Pheebs, what's your schedule this fine Sunday morning?" Prue asked. "Welll... actually I was thinking of maybe going shopping..." Phoebe said guiltily. Prue looked up. "That sounds fun can I join you?" Prue said casually. Phoebe wrinkled her eyebrows. "You mean that's alright, I mean just going and spending money... your money?" Phoebe asked. Prue nodded. "Piper earns it to, and you earn it by all the work you do around the house. Its not my money." Prue said without looking up from the Sunday funnies.

"Wow." Phoebe thought aloud. Prue looked up and smiled at her younger sister. "So anyway, what time is Piper getting back from P3?" Prue asked, turning her head back to the comics. "Umm 6 I think, she's preparing for some band that's coming to the club Wednesday." Phoebe grabbed half of Prue's comics and they both sat silently at the table reading.

"Ooooh oooh, look at that dress!" Phoebe gasped squirming away from Prue towards the dress. Prue laughed and jogged after her little sister. They reached the dress and Phoebe snatched it off the rack and swung it over her arm. They looked through the small store for another few minutes then headed back to the dressing rooms. Phoebe's dress ended up actually fitting pretty well, and Prue decided on buying a somewhat casual, but very chic shirt. They brought their choices to the register and the tall male clerk started ringing up the items. Phoebe smiled greedily and as she reached for her change her hand brushed the clerk's and it triggered a premonition. There was an unbelievably large crowd; a big shiny ball resembling a disco ball was almost near the bottom of a large pole. She looked around; it was Times Square in New York. Just as the ball reached the ground the words 2000 flashed up onto the screen, and probably 50 people in the crowd transformed into warlocks. In unison they all started yelling out some kind of chant in a language Phoebe could not understand. Suddenly everyone in the crowd magically changed into a warlock. Among the first warlocks was the store clerk.

Phoebe jerked her hand back and the change fell onto the counter. She stared at the clerk fearfully as he gathered up the fallen coins and once again handed them to Phoebe. She grabbed Prue's arm tightly and bolted out of the store almost forgetting her bags. "What did you see?" Prue questioned having realized that it was definitely a premonition. Phoebe shuddered and described what she had seen trying to force the image of the thousands of warlocks out of her head. Prue trembled. "So there is a really big coven or clan of warlocks, that are gonna turn thousands of innocents into warlocks at the start of the millennium?" Phoebe nodded. "That's what it looked like."

Prue covered her face with her hands. "Looks like we'll be spending our New Year's Eve in New York.

A WEEK LATER

"Did you pack the Book of Shadows Pipe?" Phoebe questioned. "Yes, it's in my carry on bag." Piper assured. "I can't believe we're taking it out of the house, what if a warlock gets a hold of it!" Prue cried. "It'll be fine Prue, no one will suspect we have it." Piper said calmly. Because of how suspicious Darryl Morris had become they had decided against using the translocation spell and had booked a flight to Manhattan.

They came late and just barely made their plane. Piper studied the tickets. "One of the seats is 6 rows behind the other two, anyone want to sit alone? It's by a window..." "I'll take it." Prue offered. "I need to catch up at some work for Buckland's anyway. The two sisters nodded and Prue passed their seats and continued on down the aisle. She rechecked her ticket and found the row where she sat. A young blonde man was typing furiously at a laptop on the outside seat. "Um excuse me." Prue said politely as she shuffled into her seat. The blonde man looked up. "Well Prue, I didn't know you were going to be in New York for the millennium." Said a mischievous voice Prue knew all to well. Prue turned around and gasped. "Jack!" Jack Sheridan smiled sweetly at her, enjoying the circumstances. "Or Jeff?" She questioned looking confused. "Did I just here my name?" Asked Jeff as he pushed his head up over the top of the seat behind them. When he saw who Jack's seat partner was he winked at his brother and disappeared back over into his own seat. Prue looked at Jack nervously. "Umm Jack, are you stalking me?" He laughed heartily. "No Prue, Jeff and I are going to see our parents, they live in Manhattan." He explained. "Great I get to spend the whole plane ride sitting next to Mr. Congeniality here!" Prue thought silently. At first they each worked on their laptops while Jack tried to start a conversation, but it wasn't long before Prue got bored of office work and started replying to his questions.

Phoebe was leaning against her seat dozing off when she heard a voice she very vaguely recognized. She peeked through the crack between the seats and saw to her horror; the store clerk and another man whispering secretively. They were looking at a piece of paper, but it was too thick for Phoebe to read through. She nudged Piper. Piper was engrossed in a book and didn't even feel it. "Piper!" She whispered nudging her again. Piper looked up. "Freeze the plane Pipe, there are warlocks behind us, they are reading something!" Piper sighed then threw up her hands, freezing the entire plane. Prue's head popped over the seat. "What was that for? I was just talking to Jack and then he just froze!" Prue said smiling. Her sisters were surprised at first about Jack, but then they filled her in about the warlocks and grabbed the page they were reading and replaced it with a clean empty one. The girls resumed their positions and time unfroze. "What the hell!?" One of the warlocks behind them cried. Phoebe patted her bag where the paper was stored and then leaned her head back against her seat. Piper smiled sweetly and picked up her book again. Without meaning to Prue actually found herself having fun talking to Jack, he was a lot more interesting then he had first seemed. As the trip came to an end he gave her his parent's phone number and she promised she'd call.

"I can't believe that actually happened!" Prue cried as she washed her face in the bathroom of the incredibly expensive hotel they were staying in. "What?" Piper asked from the bedroom part of the suite. "Talked to Jack so easily, forgave him, promised I'd call him. I was determined not to become friendly with him!" Prue said laughing at how that sounded. "He likes you Prue, he just has a different way of flirting." Phoebe said joining in the conversation. "She's right you should give him a chance." Piper put in. Prue heard but didn't say anything. When Prue came out of the bathroom her two younger sisters were enthralled in the piece of paper they had stolen from the warlocks. "So what's it say?" Prue asked as she strolled over to her sisters. "It's their plan. They are meeting at a bar tonight to discuss things then it also shows where they all will be hiding when the ball drops." Phoebe explained. Prue got up to go to the bathroom and Piper gently took the paper from Phoebe's hands. There was some Latin writing on the bottom. Piper decided she would ask Prue what it said when she got back. Phoebe snatched back the paper and started trying to pronounce the words. "I don't know if you should do that Pheebs..." Piper said. Phoebe shrugged and finished reading aloud. All of a sudden Phoebe felt a deep ache in her head it spread through her whole body and took over her mind. All of a sudden she transformed into a creature and watched Piper transform also. They both smiled wickedly. All Phoebe wanted to do right then was kill Prue. She had never wanted to do anything more. And after Prue more witches. Phoebe watched eagerly as the door opened and Prue stepped out. She turned around and gasped when she saw her beloved sisters transformed into warlocks. Her eyes darted wildly and she realized she was about to be attacked. She spotted the paper on the floor and dived for it. Phoebe leapt onto her back clawing at her leg. Prue skimmed the paper and winced as blood oozed from the scratches. Then she started to say something in Latin. It started out the same as what Phoebe had said, but something was different. As quick as they had transformed Phoebe and Piper changed back into humans. As soon as Prue saw that they weren't warlocks anymore she dropped the paper and grabbed her injured leg. It was bleeding pretty heavily and she blinked to suppress her tears. Phoebe and Piper pounced over to where Prue was laying and hugged her. "Oh my God I'm so sorry, that chant it changed us into warlocks I was soooo stupid I'm so sorry!" Phoebe cried sympathetically. Prue smiled. "It's alright, it doesn't even hurt anymore. "How did you change us back?" Piper asked as she stared guiltily at Prue's leg. "Well what you said in Latin was: Transform into thy dark side. So I just changed it a little to say: Transform into thy light side. It was the only thing I could think of." Prue explained. "Thank God it worked!" Piper said happily. Phoebe nodded. "That's it!" Piper yelled. Her sisters stared at her questioningly. "Piper leapt to her feet. "That's how to defeat the warlocks!" Piper started breathing quickly. "As soon as the warlock's come out I will freeze time and change them back into humans!" Piper cried ecstatically. Prue and Phoebe hugged her with relief. "Thank God we figured out what to do, it would be hell trying to escape from thousands of warlocks!" Prue exclaimed. The sisters ate dinner all in extremely good moods that they had figured out how to vanquish the warlocks. After dinner Prue called Jack and they talked for a while. Prue hung up the phone smiling. "So...?" Her curious sister's interrogated pressing for details. Prue smiled. "Well, we are gonna have dinner in a cottage his parents own in the mountains on New Year's Eve, before the ball drops and everything. We'll be back in time to vanquish the warlocks." Her sisters smiled at her happily. "I was kinda reluctant at first, but after our conversation on the plane, I'm a lot more comfortable and relaxed around him." She added. The three sisters snuggled into their beds and slept peacefully, especially Prue.

NEW YEAR'S EVE

"Sorry for the long ride Prue, but really its a very nice place, I'm sure you'll love it!" Jack assured. Prue just smiled at him from the passenger seat of the car. Time flew by as they talked and before she knew it they had reached the cottage. It was a cozy little house and it put Prue at ease instantly. They stepped into the snug little hide away and walked into the comfortably furnished kitchen. They ate dinner quickly then retreated to the family room where they sat facing each other on the couch. Prue found herself telling Jack about Andy. (Leaving out the part about how Rodriguiz was a warlock and instead a hit and run killed Andy) He seemed to understand how she felt even though he didn't reveal the loss of any loved ones. They moved on to more sheltered topics and soon it was time to leave. For a moment they both stopped talking. Jack gazed into her eyes confidently then leaned forward to kiss her. Prue kissed back for a moment then pulled back slowly savoring the kiss. He smiled sweetly at her and stood up taking her hand. They grabbed their coats and headed towards the car a soft breeze chilling them. He opened the door for her and she smiled genuinely extremely glad that she had given Jack a second chance. They continued on their conversation that had been paused by the kiss. Prue noticed that he was looking at her more than the road. She was kind of worried because they were riding the curvy mountain roads which all had cliffs or ditches on the sides. All of a sudden she saw a really sharp turn ahead that Jack didn't see. She cried out and he swerved the car to avoid a wreck, but it wasn't enough and the car plunged off the side of a steep cliff. Prue stopped screaming and it seemed like slow motion as she watched Jack's head bash into the steering wheel. Her own head bashed into the dashboard and she felt a dull ache she silently watched blood dripping from a wound on Jack's head. She was starting to black out when a loud voice filled her mind. "I'll always be there for you Prue." She heard in the familiar voice she knew as Andy Trudeau. She raised her throbbing head looking for her dear friend but instead of seeing Andy she saw that the car was resting on the steep ledge in which they had gone flying off of. She exhaled a thank you as everything got woozy around her and she fell into a dreamless unconscious state.

"Where is Prue?" Piper cried impatiently. Phoebe shrugged. "The ride probably took longer than she expected, she'll be here soon." Phoebe exclaimed surely. Piper checked her watch for the millionth time that night. "We only have 20 minutes until the ball drops, she better get here soon!" They were talking to each other secretively when a familiar figure stepped up to them. "Jack!" They said in unison. He smiled. "No, Jeff. Jack must still be on his date with Prue, they haven't gotten back yet, and he's not answering his cell phone. The two charmed ones looked at each other with worried expressions on their faces. "Well Jeff, I'm sure they'll be ba-" Phoebe's head jerked back

Prue and Jack are driving along the warped twisting roads in the mountains. The digital clock says it is 11:10 PM. Prue's face contorts into horror when she sees a sharp turn ahead that Jack does not see. He swerves but the car goes flying off the edge. Something happens in this premonition that has never happened before. Phoebe can hear. She suffers through Prue's shrill scream then hears Andy's voice. Suddenly the car is back on the sharp ledge, but both Jack and Prue are unconscious.

Phoebe breathes in sharply and her hand falls from Jeff's shoulder. "Hey are you ok?" Jeff asked with worry in his voice. Phoebe managed to laugh thinly. "Yes, just a little dizzy spell there." She responded meekly. "We'll see you later Jeff!" Piper exclaimed quickly as she grabbed Phoebe's arm and dragged her into the midst of the crowd. "What's wrong, what happened?" She asked quickly. Phoebe stayed silent for a second. "Come on Pheebs spit it out!" She cried. Phoebe took a deep breath then described what she had seen not missing a thing. Piper got paler and paler. "Oh my God! We have to go get her, she could be dying! We'll hurry and make it back in time to stop the warlocks!" The two sisters rushed from Time's Square and found their car. They sped through the back roads until they reached the mountains. They were a little more cautious there. Phoebe recognized the road Prue and Jack had crashed. They arrived at the ledge a few minutes before midnight. They easily lifted Prue into their rental car, and had a little more trouble but with the help of adrenaline lifted Jack into it also. They sped even faster to the hospital and dropped Jack and Prue off in the emergency room. Feeling bad, they left to go back to Times Square. The clock in the car said 12:15 AM they hoped for the best. As soon as they arrived at Times Square everything was chaos! There were thousands of warlocks surrounding each other looking for innocents and witches to kill. The sisters gasped in astonishment and horror. Piper froze everyone. It was amazing seeing so many people/warlocks frozen. With that they flew up to the nearest microphone and started chanting. Everyone started moving again, but it was obvious that they had unfrozen different then when they were frozen. There was not a warlock in sight! They smiled at each other. Phoebe pointed out that most of the original warlocks that had started this whole mess had just disappeared. "I guess some things just don't have a light side." Phoebe said unhappily. With that they left the scene and headed back towards the hospital.

Prue woke up in an uncomfortable hospital bed. The sheets were sticking to her and her head was throbbing n'snyc with her heartbeat. Her hand lightly grazed her forehead and it felt like a sledgehammer smashing in her face. She opened her eyes as soon as the fireworks stopped going off in her head. Then she briefly (and painfully) turned her head to the right a little and saw Jack lying in a bed next to her. He was conscious and seemed to be in a little better shape then her. His forehead was extremely swollen and there was a deep cut the shape of a Nike sign right above his left eyebrow. She did the best she could to smile and he returned the favor. Prue didn't move as her sisters came rushing in. "Prue! Sweetie are you ok?!" Piper shouted. Prue nodded meekly and assured her. A tall professional looking doctor strolled in. "Hello ladies. We've gotten Ms. Halliwell's results back, it looks like you suffered a severe concussion and a few minor bumps and bruises, Mr. Sheridan here," he said motioning towards Jack "has a minor concussion and a head wound that will need stitches. It really is a miracle that you two didn't go flying off that cliff." He added. "Yes it is." Prue thought to herself.

"Yes I'd like a thin slice of cheesecake with whipped cream." Prue told the waiter. He hurried off to get her desert. She turned her head back to her dinner partner. "It's almost healed." Prue commented as she lightly touched the treated wound above Jack Sheridan's left eye. He smiled "It doesn't hurt anymore." They were having dinner two weeks after the accident back in San Francisco. Prue's cheesecake arrived and she ate it slowly to savor the taste. "So anyway Jack, you never told me what your New Year's resolution was..." He smiled sweetly winked at her, then leaned across the table for a kiss.
