Frozen

by Dietz

One very cold December evening. All stores and shops are closed. The streets are empty, not a single soul is in sight. Except for one lonely figure walking down the main street.

"I'm never going back", the figure thought. "If that's how they look at me they can shove it, I hate them. Damn it's cold, I must find somewhere to warm up." The figure found a shelter.

"Welcome, can I have your name please."

"Halliwell, Phoebe Halliwell."

"Do you have any family?"

"No I don't."

"Because of new laws, you can only stay one night. I know it sucks but it isn't much we can do," the man said.

"Well thank you," Phoebe said and walked to her temporary bed. She laid there thinking of what her sisters had said to her, it was things like, "get a job or get out." "Phoebe do this I'm to up with my WORK." "We are getting tired of you, Phoebe" they had said to her among other things.

She couldn't help that she began to cry and somewhere in the room there was a "Sscchh". "Sorry," she whispered.

Next Day

"Hope you slept well," the man said.

"Yeah, it was great, thanks," Phoebe said and walked out.

"I wished that I could have grabbed something warmer before I left," Phoebe thought. Before she had burst out crying she took her coat.

At the Halliwell mansion

"Prue where is she," Piper asked devastated, she had been up all night waiting for Phoebe to get home.

"I don't know Piper, maybe we should drive around and look for here," Prue said sad.

"Now I really wish that I had her powers," Piper said as they walked out the door.

"Do you see her anywhere," Piper asked concerned.

"No, I don't," Prue said, "I been thinking, we said some nasty things to her."

"Yes, and doesn't surprise me if she don't want to see us again," Piper filled in.

Back to Phoebe

"It's gettin closer to 5, maybe I should get to another shelter, maybe it's like this the homeless thinks, well I am a homeless now," Phoebe sighed when she had a premonition. It was about her so called sisters looking after her and they were getting closer. "Looks like I ain't going to that shelter afterall," she thought and began to walk in another direction.

"We must ask at the shelters," Prue said.

"That's a great idea Prue. Oh Prue we have to find her," Piper said low.

"Hi, do you had anyone here named Phoebe Halliwell," Piper asked.

"Yes, last night a young women slept here, are you family?"

"Yes."

"Sorry you got the wrong Halliwell, she said that she didn't have any family."

Now everything broke for Piper, she ran out the shelter crying.

"What's wrong honey," Prue asked.

"She was here, but when the man asked if she had any family, she said no."

"It's ok," Prue said as her voice trailed of.

Phoebe had another premonition Prue and Piper sits on a bench crying.

"That's right back at them," Phoebe said loud and angry. Phoebe had noticed that her power had grown. She could see anyone and what they did if she focused. It was getting darker and Phoebe hadn't still found anywhere to sleep.

"Oh crap, it's cold, and I haven't found a place to stay" Phoebe was thinking angry. She had another premonition about her sisters going home. "That's how much they care about me," she said hurt.

Prue and Piper were driving home only to put on more clothes so they could be out looking more. A couple of hours went by.

"I can't do this anymore" a cold Phoebe thought. "I'm gonna lay down right here and wait." Phoebe was ice cold and she laid down behind some boxes. "It's gonna be great to see you mom," Phoebe said and closed her eyes.

"Crap the car broke down," Prue said panicked, "it's to cold."

"What if she's out there," a hysterical Piper said.

"Calm down Piper, we're gonna find her."

"Phoebe wake up."

"What, who is it."

"It's me."

"Mom?"

"Yes Phoebe, it's me."

"Mom I want to see you."

"Phoebe listen to me, I know that Prue and Piper haven't been that nice to you."

"You can say that," Phoebe whispered, "Mom can I be with you."

"No Phoebe, your time will come later."

"I'm so cold. I can't stand this cold anymore, I think I'm coming anyway mom."

"NO Phoebe! listen to me."

"Mom, I love you."

"I love you to Phoebe, but I have called your sisters, they know where you are."

"But why...." Phoebes voice died out.

"Piper, Prue hurry," Patty thought to her daughters.

At the same time across the city

"Driver floor it," Prue yelled at the cab driver.

"Where are you going ladies," the driver asked.

"To the alley behind 'The Ocean'".

"That's gonna take about 15-20 minutes."

"We don't have that much time," Prue yelled.

"Is this how it feels to die, cold, empty, lonely?"

"Honey don't give up."

"Mom I thought you had left."

"No, why should I?"

"I don't know, maybe to connect with my so called sisters."

"Phoebe...."

"Did you hear what things they said to me?"

"Yes honey, and I admire you for taking it so long."

"Well that's me, always the punching bag for Prue and sometimes Piper."

"Who's that?" Phoebe asked.

"Oh my god, it's not time yet."

"Hey, that's me."

"Prue, Piper where are you?"

"Are we there yet," Piper asked as she heard her mom.

"The alley coming right up," the cabbie said.

As they reached the Ocean, Piper and Prue rushed out of the car into the alley.

"Where is she?" Piper screamed.

"Keep looking Piper."

Phoebe felt sad when she saw here sisters going mad at the alley.

"Mom are you here?"

"Yes I'm here."

"I love you."

"I love you to honey, I'm sorry we didn't have more time."

"Phoebe!!, oh God don't do this," Prue cried. Prue found Phoebe, she was pale and turning into blue.

Phoebe started to cry when she saw her sisters all hysterical "Mom I think I love them anyway."

"That's great."

"What are we gonna do," Piper screamed in panic, "she hasn't got a pulse."

"The cab Piper, the cab, run after it," Prue shouted.

Piper ran of to fetch the cab meanwhile...

"Phoebe I know you can hear me," Prue sobbed. "Please don't go yet, I love you so much Phoebe. I know I've been hard and said stupid things, I'm sorry about that."

"Prue!! the cab wasn't there, and I couldn't found anything else. The club is closed," a panicked Piper shouted.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm talking to her and saying that I'm sorry. I think you should do it too."

"Well," Piper said and dropped down beside Phoebe, "Prue go and see if you can find anything."

"Ok." Prue ran out on the street.

"Phoebe, honey, you are my little sister, you know I love you, Piper" whispered crying. "If you can hear me, so Mom, Please help us, we can't lose Phoebe... Please."

"Phoebe it looks like you're goin back," Patty said.

"Not just yet, wait a little bit more," a loud voice said.

Piper had Phoebes head in her lap, gently stroking her hair.

"Phoebe please come back. I love you."

"Why can't I go back?" Phoebe asked the voice.

"They must learn to appreciate you Phoebe Halliwell" the voice said.

"What about my body?"

"You must contact them in some way, the best place is at home."

"What if they call 911?"

"No they don't, they are gonna take you home, I looked to that." A bright light shined up on Phoebe and she felt calm.

"Look at this dress, it's great," Phoebe said as she saw her white dress.

"I know."

"Are you gonna be with me all the time mom."

"Until you return, Yes."

Back at the manor

Prue levitated Phoebe in.

"Is this a good idea Prue," Piper asked as she shut the door.

"I know what I heard."

"Put her on the couch," Piper said.

"Mom should I talk to them."

"Not today, you heard what He said, they must learn to appreciate you."

"Look at them, they're crying, don't you think that they learned their lesson?"

"Oh Phoebe, you are so forgiving, that's a good sign."

"A good sign for what?"

"If they don't learn to appreciate you, your gonna be like this forever."

"Like what, walking around in this dress and just watch them?"

"Yes, but that's good too."

"But then there will be no one to protect the innocent."

"Enough now, we must make preparations for tomorrow."

"Prue, what on earth are we gonna do," Piper sobbed as she held Phoebe's hand.

"I don't know Piper. It's to late for taking her to the ER." This was the first time ever the Halliwell sisters felt helpless.

"So I'm just gonna show myself, tomorrow night."

"Yes, look calm and say what you need, I guarantee that they will listen."

Next Morning

"Wake up Prue," Piper whispered

"What, where's the fi...." Prue remembered what had happened. "Oh god, I thought it was just a dream."

"Well should we go to work....or stay home?" Piper asked.

"We shouldn't let anyone know what happened"

"We're of to work then...."

As Prue and Piper was gettin everything in order, Phoebe stood watching with Patty. Prue and Piper stood in the hall, ready to leave.

"I'll go and start up the car," Prue said, "you can call me any time ok."

"Yeah, sure."

"I love you, Prue and Piper."

"Did you hear that?" Piper asked

"Hear what..."

"It sounded like Phoebe."

"Well, we can listen more when we get back." And they closed the door.

Prue and Piper had a hard day at work. Trying to keep a straight face. "Claire, I'm gonna go home now, I don't feel too well," Prue said.

"Prue," Claire asked concerned, "if there is anything you want to talk about you just come to me."

"Thank you Claire."

At Quake

"Oh crap, who left the meat out," Piper shouted angry.

"That must be me," a young girl said.

"Well, you're fired."

"But it's my first day..."

"No buts you don't belong here. Go." The girl started to cry, as she left the kitchen.

"What's wrong with you today Piper?" her best chef asked.

"Ah, nothing," Piper said and started to cry, "I'm calling it a day." And she left through the front door bumping in to someone. Piper didn't stay to say that she was sorry, but if she had done that, she would have recognized the person as Phoebe.

"Well, we better get back," Patty said to her daughter.

When Prue and Piper got home the clock was about 7.

"Look at her," Prue said, "I miss her." Prue and Piper embraced in a long hug.

"Oh mom, why can't I go back, I forgive them."

"If it was that easy, they must first go through pain, like you did, then they must have remorse."

"Can I say that to them?"

"No, you can only say that you can't come back, so they can feel pain. I know, this is heartless, but it's their punishment for doing that to you."

"Oh my, this is going to be hard."

It was dark in the living room except for the tv. Piper and Prue sat in the sofa sleeping. Suddenly out of nowhere a bright figure took shape. It was Phoebe.

"My sweet sisters," she thought and walked in front of them. Piper moaned and looked up, she saw a bright figure standing over her.

"Who are you? Prue wake up. Prue was up fast," that's when they realized who the person was.

"Phoebe?! what happen to you," Prue asked trying to touch her.

"No don't, I just come to say that I can't come back." Phoebe said, but looked at them with the expression that it wasn't true.

"But... what about us," Piper started.

"I'm sorry." Phoebe started to fade out

"No! Phoebe don't leave us," Piper screamed. Phoebe disappeared.

"NO," Prue screamed sliding down to the floor and buried her face in her hands. Piper sat down beside her and hugged her.

"It's done mom," Phoebe said with pain as she looked at her sisters.

"Now we just have to wait and see. What do you say if we go and pay Grams a visit."

"You mean we can do that?" a happy Phoebe said.

"Yeah, sure."

"This is all my fault," Prue wept.

"No, Prue don't say that. I'm as much guilty as you are."

"Maybe we should have looked harder," Prue said.

"Well I heard her say that she love us, you know when we were leaving for work."

"Well I still miss her, but maybe she is good where she is," Prue said.

"What about the Power of Three," Piper asked little bit happier (not that you can be happy when someone just died).

"I think there's a spell about that in the book of shadows," Prue said sad.

"I guess we don't have a choice then," Piper said and walked to the stairs. "I think we should do it now."

Piper and Prue walked up to the attic.

"Here's the spell, it's about giving our powers to someone else."

"That should work, what do we need?" Prue asked.

"We need something... from the dead person. Prue is this the right thing to do?"

"Piper, she is dead, Phoebe is dead, and you heard her yourself, she can't return. And we are sent here to protect the innocent."

"I guess you're right," Piper sighed. "I go down and get something." Piper walked down and took one of Phoebe's rings.

"Ok, I have one of her rings."

"The spell reads like this, are you ready Piper," Prue asked.

"Yes I'm ready."

"The one we loved is gone
But not the powers
We still need to protect the innocent
So give us the power"

"That's it? It didn't even rime," Piper said, all suddenly Piper felt like she was going to explode.

"Ahhh," Piper screamed and fell to the floor.

"Piper!" Prue rushed to Pipers side, "are you ok?"

"I think so. I think I got Phoebe's power. What have we done?" Piper said and started to cry.

"What the hell did they do? Mom tell me they didn't," Phoebe said shocked.

"I'm shocked too Phoebe," Patty said trying to comfort her daughter.

"Don't they love me anymore, I mean they should have tried something."

"I think that they misunderstood, I'm sorry, but we can spend more time together," Patty said with a smile.

"I can still watch over them right?"

"You can be there every day if you want to, I know I was at the beginning," Patty said.

"Thank you mom, I love you."
