A Fatal Deal

Piper drove down the street towards the Halliwell manor, thinking about how she would spend her day off. She thought about a bath, and maybe some shopping. She smiled. Finally she could relax! She just hoped no one would disturb her, especially Quake. Nothing would keep her from having a relaxing day. She pulled into the driveway. Prue's car was gone, so she figured Prue had gone to work. She stopped the car and pulled out her keys. She opened the door and grabbed her purse. She didn't even see the man until it was too late. Something heavy hit her in the temple and she collapsed to the ground. Before she passed out she saw him pick up her things and close the car door. The rest was darkness.

Phoebe came downstairs from the attic after hearing a car. Since Prue had gone to work, Phoebe guessed it was Piper. She suddenly remembered Piper had the day off and decided to go out and leave Piper alone. She grabbed her purse and coat and opened the door. A car was just speeding away from the curb. Phoebe saw Piper's jeep, but she couldn't find Piper. Frowning, she went back inside, thinking she must have heard the other car. She could have sworn Piper had taken her jeep in to work. She was beginning to worry. She had just reached for the phone when it rang.

"Hello?" Phoebe asked, hoping it was Piper. It wasn't, but some man answered.

"Phoebe Halliwell?"

"Yes," Phoebe said uncertainly.

"If you want to see your sister alive, you will bring the Book of Shadows to the corner of Bell Street and Steel. There is an empty house. You will drop the book on the porch. If you comply, Piper will be returned unhurt." The man said and hung up. Phoebe was shocked, but recovered quickly and dialed Prue at Buckland's.

"Prue, we've got a problem..." Phoebe started.

Piper awoke two hours after being kidnaped, but she felt tremendous pain, and passed out again. The second time she woke, she felt nauseous. She rolled over onto her side and threw up anything she had eaten. She rolled away onto her other side and struggled to her knees. Her head thundered and she felt herself grow faint. She passed out. The third time she awoke, she felt stronger, and her the pain in her head lessened somewhat. She stood up with dizziness and surveyed her surroundings. She was in a small room, like a prison chamber, complete with sliding bars. She heard footsteps and prepared to use her power. The man came in sight.

"Ready for the deal?" he asked smiling. Piper frowned and he went on to explain. "You for the Book of Shadows. It's as simple as that." He pulled out the keys and reached for the lock. Piper readied herself.

"What are you?" she asked as he began to turn the lock. He pulled open the door as he answered.

"I'm a very special warlock, Piper," he started. Piper wasn't about to let him finish. She raised her hands and tried to freeze him. Nothing happened. She backed away slowly.

"I told you I was special. Your powers don't work on me." he said smiling. He came closer and pulled out a blindfold and some handcuffs.

"Yeah, but this will," she said and kneed him in the groin. His faced showed shock, and she pushed him to the ground. She kicked him once before jumping over him and running out of the cage. She ran down a long tunnel for what seemed like forever before reaching the end. In front of her was two identical tunnels. Each seemed like the one she just ran through. She cursed and chose the one on the left. She heard footsteps behind her and she pushed herself harder. Her head was throbbing again, and she felt the dizziness come again. She struggled to stay on her feet as she heard the steps coming faster and quicker. She saw in front of her light and she knew she was coming to the end of the tunnel. She just reached the doorway when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Screaming, she pulled away from the hand, but tripped on something and fell. She landed on her back hard and felt the breath knocked from her. The warlock was above her and he swung something hard at her. The blinding pain in her head kept her from feeling any pain.

Phoebe had the Book of Shadows in her arms when Prue came home. The man had called Phoebe seconds before Prue had come home and told her to drop the book off at 8:00. He would release Piper if they did as they were told. Phoebe was so afraid for Piper, but more afraid of what would happen if they did give up the Book of Shadows to some monster, or human. She remembered all too clearly of Lohoman and his plot to expose the sisters. Prue was quiet when she entered the house and Phoebe used this opportunity to suggest a plan.

"Prue, what if we didn't trade the Book of Shadows for Piper." Prue stared at her and opened her mouth to say something, but Phoebe cut her off. "Just think, if we give up the Book of Shadows, we get Piper back, yes, but we also are more vulnerable than ever. If we bluff, we might have a chance to get Piper and still keep the Book of Shadows." Prue pondered it for a moment.

"What happens if we fail. Do you really want to risk Piper's life?"

"What about our lives!" Phoebe countered. Prue bit her lip. She couldn't come back with anything. Part of what Phoebe was saying actually made sense. Sighing she finally gave in.

"So what do you have in mind?"

Prue carried the gym bag by the straps as she stepped out of her car. It was a few minutes after 8:00 and she was just about to drop the Book of Shadows on the porch. She pulled out her cell phone and called Phoebe, who was walking around the side of the warehouse, hiding.

"Phoebe, ready?" she asked. She dropped the bag on the porch and started to step away. The door opened and a man stepped out, grabbing the bag.

"Where's Piper? You've got what you wanted, now tell me where she is!" Prue said loudly. The man chuckled.

"How do I know this is the real Book of Shadows?" he said. He pulled open the bag and revealed--the Book of Shadows.

"Tell me where she is." Prue said.

"She's around. I will leave an envelope that contains her whereabouts. Once I am gone, you can have it." he said. He walked towards a car that was at the bottom of the driveway. Prue tried to throw him away, but nothing happened. The man laughed some more.

"You know, Piper tried to do that as well. Didn't work," he said and got in the car. He was just pulling away when he dropped a note on the ground. Prue ran and grabbed it. Inside the note said: BOOM.

"Phoebe? You there?" she asked in the phone.

"Yeah, I'm inside the house. I think Piper's in here. I saw her purse."

"Phoebe, hurry. I think he planted a bomb. I'm coming in too," Prue said, while running towards the house. She entered and saw Phoebe opening some sort of trap door.

"Prue, I've looked everywhere. I can't find her." Phoebe said panicking. Prue looked down inside the trap door. There was a ladder, but Prue couldn't see all the way to the bottom.

"Wanna go first?" Prue asked. Phoebe put a hand to her lips.

"Can you hear that?" Phoebe asked. Prue frowned and shook her head. "There. There it is again. It sounds like banging." Phoebe said. She touched the ladder and had a premonition:

A man was carrying someone over his shoulder as he climbed down the ladder. Her face was revealed and it was Piper.

"Phoebe, what did you see?" Prue asked. Phoebe started down the ladder.

"Piper. She was here."

Piper awoke in tremendous pain. Her whole body ached and she couldn't remember why. All she remembered was being in her car, and then it's a blank. She heard voices and footsteps above her, and they sounded familiar. She struggled towards the door to a room. She suddenly remembered being in another room, different from this one. She tried to remember more, but couldn't. The voices got louder and she started hitting the door and yelling. The voices paused then started again. She felt herself get weaker and weaker and soon she found she couldn't stay awake. Her eyes drooped and she passed out.

Phoebe climbed down the ladder, followed by Prue, and listened for the pounding again. There was a faint sound before it disappeared completely. She pulled open a door that led to a long tunnel. Every little sound that was made echoed through the tunnel. They followed the tunnel and came to another tunnel. There was another tunnel beside the one they just came through.

"Which one do we go through?" Phoebe asked. Prue shrugged.

"I'll go down this way, and you," she said pointing down the one opposite the one they came through. "You take that one," Prue said as she started down her tunnel. Phoebe walked down the tunnel, and soon was able to see a door. She moved quickly towards the door and pulled it open. An unconscious Piper fell out.

"Oh my God! Piper! Prue! Prue! I found her!" Phoebe called out. The bruises were dark and they brought tears to her eyes. "Piper, can you hear me? Wake up!" she called to her sister. She heard Prue calling to her and running over to them.

"Phoebe! We've got to get out of here! There's a bomb!" Prue cried.

"Piper! She's knocked out!" Phoebe said as Prue came in. Prue grabbed Piper's arm while Phoebe grabbed the other. They dragged her limp form through the tunnel then up the ladder. They just reached the door when the bomb went off.

The warlock stopped at the side of the street, and grabbed the gym bag. He pulled on the zipper and pulled out the Book of Shadows and opened it. Inside, there wasn't any pages, except for one note. The warlock seethed as he read the note. "NOOOOOO! I'm almost had it!" he screamed. He grabbed a controller and pushed the button. "They will pay for this." Somewhere behind him, a bomb went off.

"Prue Halliwell, mid- to late-twenties, suffered minor burns and a concussion. Phoebe Halliwell, early twenties, minor burns and broken rib. Piper Halliwell, early- to mid- twenties, several broken bones, minor burns, possible internal bleeding, and a concussion. Unconscious at scene, non-responsive. I've got Piper, you guys take the other two," the doctor said as the three sisters were taken into the ER. The doctors worked on stabilizing Piper before they wheeled her to surgery. Prue was just beginning to wake up. The nurse came over and called for a doctor.

"Where am I?" Prue muttered, feeling the effects of the pain killer.

"You're at the hospital Prue. You and your sisters were involved in an explosion. You have minor burns on your face and arms, as well as a minor concussion. You should be released tomorrow," the doctor said smiling.

"What about Phoebe and Piper?"

"Well, Phoebe broke two ribs, and had minor burns and a concussion." The doctor replied.

"What about Piper?" Prue asked. The doctor looked at the nurse before turning back to Prue.

"She's..."

Piper walked through the halls of the hospital, trying to find Prue and Phoebe. She saw a doctor up ahead and called to him.

"Hey! Do you know where I could find Prue and Phoebe Halliwell?" she asked as he passed by. He didn't even look up. He completely ignored her.

"How rude!" she said as he passed by. She shook her head and walked towards the waiting room. The front desk was there and she stepped up to it. A portly woman sat behind it writing on a chart.

"Excuse me? Can you tell me where I could find Prue and Phoebe Halliwell?" Piper asked. The woman looked up, but not at her. She was looking at a man at Piper's right.

"Yes sir? What can I do for you?" she asked. Piper gave the woman a death stare, yet still she ignored her. Piper started waving her hands in front of the woman.

"Hey you! Hello! I was here first! Can't you hear me? Are you deaf??!!" Piper screamed. The man and the woman kept talking. "Arrgghhh!" Piper screamed and stepped away from the desk. "Why are you people so ignorant!" she yelled. Suddenly a man pushing a wheelchair walked towards her. He didn't even slow down as he got closer.

"Hey! You're not going to ignore me too are you?" she asked. The man pushed the chair right through her. It went right through her and so did the man.

"Oh my God!" Piper said.
