Game five has now been concluded which means it's now time for my review to be published. Many thanks to all of those who entered this game - there were some very high scores and many over the century. Congratulations particularly to the high scorers listed below:

1. Stuart Earl - 120
2. Jon O'Neill - 113
3. Ross Allatt - 111
4. Kevin Thurlow - 110

Great shame on Kevin just missing out there by one point for joint third place with Ross. Congratulations to the mighty Stuart Earl with an impressive 120 points. Now here goes my comprehensive round-by-round review on what words were offered and if I can top them. If you're used to this you'll know that normally I get a three whereas someone finds an eight, but just occasionally I can go one better!

Round 1: Fairly bad first go at the letters and I don't think the X helped much. I managed to get a fabulous four with POTS but most other people managed to go much better than me and get a seven with OPIATES, which I believe relate to opium. Jono was cleverly trying to bribe me here with his suggestion of "FOXIEST" but I refused to increase his score.

Round 2: Again, a round which doesn't appear to offer the best selection of letters there. There was CRAVED for six but indeed I and a couple of other people could offer VIRAEMIC which is the presence of a virus in the blood of a host. Another scientific term to add to the list.

Round 3: Not a bad choice of letters this time with REFINES there for seven, but PILSENER is there for eight. It can be capitalised to be a type of lager with a strong flavour of hops (had to look that up on dictionary.com to check that - honestly(!)) or it can be a type of beer glass, therefore it doesn't have to be capitalised, so it's in.

Round 4: Lots of "O"s in this selection and I think the best anyone could do was six. There was a five with Ross offering to re-do my PATIO which I suspect was another attempt for more points, but the six was only achieved by the best out there and the word was OPTIMA, so quite fitting really.

Round 5: All numbers rounds in this game were do-able. The easiest way to get to the target of 556 in this round is to say ((50 X (10 + 1)) + 8) - 2 = 556. Fairly easy and all got 10 points on this one.

Round 6: FLUTED was there for six, but there was a seven in this round with DUTIFUL. Couldn't go any better than this seven, so seven points was the maximum.

Round 7: There was a good eight here with BOTTOMED which means to provide a bottom to something. Angelfire have kindly asked that I make no rude comments on this, so to stop me doing that I shall move on quickly to round eight.

Round 8: There was a good seven in this round with GENITOR which is one who produces or creates. However, I can go one better and offer PEIGNOIR which is a woman's loose-fitting dressing gown. God only knows how I knew that, not having much experience of that lol.

Round 9: There were two very good eights given in this round. RELISHES was there as well as HEIRLESS. Obvious what both of these words mean and no jokes to make about them, so I guess we should go to the numbers.

Round 10: Numbers time again and the usual selection of one large and five small. The quickest way to get to the target of 461 is to say
((50 X 2 - 6) X 10) + 1 = 461.

Round 11: The best anyone could do here was seven with FORMATE, but I can go one better and offer FOREPART. REFORMAT was also there for eight and was suggested by Stuart. Time to blow my own trumpet again and tell myself how wonderful I am! lol, let's face it, no-one else will!

Round 12: Once again, it seems that the best anyone else could do was five with BREVE and Jono was hinting with LOVER but I was looking for more than that with my six and wanted to BELOVE someone. BOLERO was also there for six.

Round 13: GRAMME and GUMMER were both offered for six, but yet again I went one better and offered RUMMAGE for seven. I am on a roll now and have a strange feeling it won't last when we get to the numbers!

Round 14: Numbers time it is and this time I opted for the more unusual approach of two big numbers and four small. Didn't seem to throw anyone with all getting the full ten points. The quickest way to get to 208 is to say ((100 x 2) + 9) - 1 = 208.

Round 15: The conundrum of FLATLYCUT went to TACTFULLY with ten points going to all.

Many thanks to all that have entered and thanks particularly to Jono who kindly said he didn't mind me making some jokes about the words he offered, so great sport there. Game six is now up and running and will close on Thursday 13th October which is unlucky for some, but at least it's not Friday!
