Many thanks to those who have entered game three. I have had a number of entries and hope these people will come back in the future for more games! The top three scores are:

1. Mike Brailsford - 120
2. Conor Travers - 106
3. Michael McLaughlin - 101

All scores were very respectable and congratulations to the top three who all obtained centuries. Now, on with my review of the game!

Round 1: There was an obvious four here with LOOK but there was a more obscure six in ULIKON. This is a term for an oily fish found in the Pacific which is also named a Candlefish, but ULIKON does not appear to be capitalised in dictionary.com, so it is allowed.

Round 2: Not much to choose from in this round with FOGGY being opted for by nearly everybody, so five was the best we could do.

Round 3: A good few sevens in this selection with DESTROY being there as well as ROASTED and ROTATED, all fine for seven. Nothing better here.

Round 4: A couple of sevens in this game with BOOMLET and TOMBOLO which is a sandbar that connects an island to the mainland or another island as listed in dictionary.com. A few fives here as well with BLOOM being the most popular.

Round 5: All numbers games could be solved in this game, some trickier than others. This was a fairly simple one and the quickest way to get to 894 using the selection is to say (100 X 9) - ((75/25) X 2) = 894.

Round 6: Round six and six was the best we could do here with EFFIGY being offered by everybody.

Round 7: Continuing the theme with round seven and seven being the best from this selection. The seven was NIFTIER but there was a good six with PURINE which is a group of organic compounds related to purine, such as adenine and guanine which I believe to be bases in DNA, so a bit of my Biology coming in there instead of the Classics lol.

Round 8: A few sevens here with AIRBAGS, BORAGES and AGAROSE. BORAGES are herbs and AGAROSE is a polysaccharide that is obtained from agar. So there you go lol.

Round 9: Six was the best anyone could do here and the most commonly offered words were BOOTED and an alteration to the first letter gave FOOTED. Nothing else to find here.

Round 10: Another numbers round and this was perhaps of the same difficulty as the last numbers round. The quickest way to get to the target of 423 is to say (((100/2) + 3) X 8) - 1 = 423.

Round 11: OUTFACES is good for eight in this round, but there is a nine with OBFUSCATE which means to obscure or to darken, from the Latin "obfuscare" meaning "to darken". Well done to all who got this nine for double points.

Round 12: RANDOM and DAIMON, which is an alternative spelling to demon or daemon are both fine for six, but there was a seven with MIDIRON which is an iron golf club according to dictionary.com. Very few people got this and I can't beat it either.

Round 13: The best here was seven with ALMONER and FOREMAN. Nothing better here.

Round 14: Another numbers round which was more complicated than the rest because of the selection of six small numbers and a fairly high target of 416. The quickest way to do it was to say ((((6 x 3) + 3) X 5) - 1) X 4 = 416.

Round 15: Everybody got the conundrum as being MENTALITY so the ten points for this round awarded to all.

Once again my thanks to all of those who took part in my game. Game four is now up and running on a new page and will be closing on Thursday 4th August. There will be a slight change to the way this website works from then for two weeks because of holidays etc. but I shall explain much more about this next week.
