Round 1: A good selection of letters for the opening round offering two good eights - HARMLESS and ARMHOLES which were the two words offered for eight points. MORSELS was a good seven.
Round 2: I could only find one six in this selection which is SADIST. Not a promising selection because of the double and triple letters.
Round 3: There were two sixes here that I managed to spot - UNFAIR and IRONIC. Cannot improve on six - would be grateful to hear if it is possible!
Round 4: There was only one eight here - UNIONISM - but there were a couple of sevens with MOUSING and MINIONS.
Round 5: The first numbers round of the game and the selection was the Classic Countdown - 1 large and 5 small. The target of 581 could be obtained by saying: ((75 - 1) x 8) - 10 - 1 = 581.
Round 6: There were two sevens in this round - DURABLE and RADULAE, which is the plural of 'radula', being a tongue-like organ in certain molluscs which has rows of horny teeth on its surface.
Round 7: There was one seven in this round with ANOMIES which are social instabilities caused by erosion of standards and values. There was also an interesting six from Stuart - SIMIAN - which is relating to an ape or monkey.
Round 8: There was only one five in this round with CAUDA, which is a tail and comes from Latin. There are a couple of fours - DUMA, being the Russian national parliament and also MAUD from Stuart.
Round 9: There was one seven in this round with BENZOIC, which is a chemical term relating to benzoin or benzoic acid. There is also a fantastic six with KINCOB, which is decorated Indian silk.
Round 10: Again, the Classic Countdown Selection of one large and five small numbers. A fairly easy one this time - (8 x (7 + 1)) x 10 = 640.
Round 11: Only fives in this round with what was a tricky letters selection. I managed to get DODOS for five and Stuart got CODAS, which is from the Latin 'cauda' (meaning tail) and usually refers to the last part of a musical piece.
Round 12: There was one eight here - SPECIALS - with a couple of sevens in SPLICES and POLICES.
Round 13: There were two sevens in this round - DEBASED and DAYBEDS, which are couches used for daytime rest.
Round 14: The last numbers round of the game and so I tried to make it tricky by selecting four big numbers and two small. However, this backfired as it produced one of the easiest rounds of the game as it was simply a case of saying (75 x 5) + 1 to get the target of 376. That'll teach me to be smart!
Round 15: The conundrum of OUCHMATES became MOUSTACHE. Ten points to all.
Congratulations to Stuart Earl who managed to score an impressive 111 on this game, although this seems to be a score he cannot escape! (Check previous reviews for the relevance.) My thanks to all who enetered and to those who suggested some of the words in the review, but who were far too modest to be credited! Game 16 is now up and running on a new page and will be concluded on Tuesday 23rd May.
