1795 STORYLINE
(380) As everyone waits for Josette in the parlor, a boom mike drops into view.
(380) Andre DuPres goes upstairs to proverbially light a fire under Josette to hurry her along to her marriage to Barnabas, but David Ford needs one too because he flubs his line. Well, almost, he says, “Josette, the patient – the minister is getting very impatient!” (Who knew Josette had a medical degree?!)
(395) The camera goes out of focus and gets lost as Naomi gives Barnabas and Angelique the deed to the Old House.
(400) As Angelique invokes her spell on Vicki over her burnt tarot cards, several very modern scripts can be seen on the bed behind her.
(402?) When Barnabas storms out of the master bedroom after arguing with Angelique, he has to fight the close the door. (Angelique needs to open them and discover Jeremiah’s ghost standing there.) Same scene, after Jeremiah’s ghost appears, a strange hand can be seen widening the doorway so that view if the ghost isn’t obstructed.
(411) When Barnabas confronts Angelique in the tomb after rising as a vampire, a crewman off stage can be sitting off stage in the shadows. (Maybe the back wall of the mausoleum is like the West Wing suite at Collinwood; it looks into other worlds?)
(425) Josette jumps from Widow’s Hill, but stories from the modern day claimed she took poison. (More of Joshua’s fictions undoubtedly, but don’t forget, The Lady Hampshire appeared in 1795 after being pulled back in time through Josette’s portrait. Confused as Josette by Countess Natalie, she does take poison after Barnabas is delayed by the Leviathans. The true Josette was possibly near found washed up at sea. The contradiction might be the reason of the multiple versions of the story of Josette in the present.)
(431?) When Daniel tells Abigail he saw Barnabas alive at the Old House, he says “unlocking the cellar door” then corrects himself and says “locking the cellar door.” (Vicki must not have had an easy time teaching him as his governess.)
(450) When Anita Sharp-Bolster forgets her lines as Bathia Mapes, someone off-screen has to read them off to her.
(455) After Vicki escapes the mausoleum with Forbes trying to kidnap Daniel, she returns to Collinwood. In telling her story to Naomi, she accidentally calls Daniel “David.” (Actually, it’s not that unique for people in real life to confuse two similar sounding names.) This confusion seems catching because Naomi pulls the same blunder seconds later. (David Henesy seems to be the only cast member with a character named similarly after himself.)
(458) Naomi Collins takes poison in what is 1796, but her tombstone in the present has always read 1810. This means Joshua made a phony grave marker to hide the phony story or Naomi possibly stayed in a coma-like state in a hospital off screen until she died.
(459) Lt. Nathan Forbes is scared of Barnabas as a vampire and possibly of the dark When a supernatural breeze blows out the candles, one candle manages to stay lit!
(460) While the hangman testes the gallows, a crewman or some other figure can be seen sneaking under the camera.
(461) Victoria reportedly returns to the present just a few seconds after she departed despite an limited amount of time in the past, but to do so would involve sliding all the later storylines back to cover the time Victoria was missing and complicate an already complicated timeline; 1970 PT TIME would then become the 1969 PT TIME. (In the 1990 mini-series, we learn in the ret-conned series that time did pass and Angelique’s ghost was quite active trying to kill Phyllis Wick in the present while the Collins Family tried to keep her alive, but some of those events, Roger and Maggie, Joe’s murder… have to be taken with a grain of salt).
