The Batman Motion Picture came out after the first season of Batman aired. It was originally going to be filmed to promote the TV series, but since the series was already immensely popular, it was used to sell Batman in foreign markets. Because of the bigger budget, it allowed the producers to have more toys. It featured the first appearances of the Bat Boat and the Bat Copter, for which some of the footage was used in later episodes. Not one, but Four Bat-Villans were used to do battle against our heroes in a campy action-packed film. It is just like the show in my opinion. Note that Julie Newmar was replaced by Lee Merriweather as the Catwoman because she was filming another movie. The movie is now out on DVD.
