It had been nearly a month since Jessica came to live with Jean. She hadn't really spoken to anyone in the whole time since she had been here. She mostly stayed to herself. She felt that would keep the others safe from her. She walked down the stairs hoping to see Remy there at the bottom like she had every other morning, but he wasn't there. She felt disapointment at the fact that he wasn't there. She sighed heavly and walked to the kitchen where she saw Remy sitting with the rest of the people. She walked to frige and the juice out and poured her some. "Morning cheri--i mean Jessie. How did you sleep?" remy asked " Fine thanks. You know you called me that once before why?" she asked as she took a sip of her drink. " Because no one else calls you dat It be my name for you none?." he said "Remy you stop flirting with her now." Rough said teasingly. "He can'y help it it's second nature to him." Jubilee said. " You just jealous that Remy not show you attention none petit?" he said directing his question to Jubilee "Not at all just stating the truth." she said "Well, i think I'm going to go to the living room less flirting there." Jessica said with a smile as she walked out of the room. " Ya'll done scared the poor girl off now." roug said as she went to Jessica. "Hey are ya ok?" Roug asked as she sat down beside her on the couch. " Yeah I'm fine. Can i ask you something personal?" she asked "Yea sugar go ahead." she said "Alright. Are you and Remy a couple?" she asked "No we aren't Why do you like him?" she asked "No I was just asking. she said "you know suga If you liek him go for him. He'll treat you good." she said as she left the room. Jessica thought about what rouge said, but she also sensed that rouge was hurt by the thougth of her liking remy. She loved him very much, but she coudln't touch him without hurting him. She felt her pain, but she also knew from when she had seen her past after touch the door knob. She felt Rouge's pain and love. She herself had feelings for him. Remy was an easy man to love, but he would be hard to keep. She thougth as she fell asleep. She had the same nightmare that she had been having for the past year. a woman she felt a connection to, but yet couldn't see would take her ahnd and lead her down a dark ally then she would turn around and it would be Kara and she would start yelling at her then blaming her for her death. She tried to tell her it wasn't her fault, but then she'd fall to the ground and no matter how hard Jessica tried she couldn't save her. Suddenly she woke up screaming. "Shhhh" a voice said as a pair of arms pulled her toward a body "It's all my fault. I didn't mean to. I'm so sorry. I"m sorry. I'm sorry." she kept repeating it over and over as the tears streamed down her face. "It's alright Cheri Remy's here now you're safe." he said soothing her as the others came in. "You odn't understand she died because of me I killed her. I did it. I didn't mean to. My powers weren't there anymore I couldn't help it. Please forgive me." she said as her voice became thick with emotion "Cheri Remy not understand what you mean." he said. " I killed Kara." she mutter sadly. "Kara?. No honey she died because of sinster." Jean said" You weren't even there." she said "But Jean I was. I saw the fight. Gina told me to save Kara, but I couldn't. My powers were gone. I couldn't save her. Then they came back, but it was to late. Gina blamed me. I didn't believe it, but then I thoguth about and realized she was right. I killed my bestfriend, but i saved a complet stranger." she said tearfully. "Cheri you didn't kill y'er frined that was sinster's doing?" Remy said. "He's right. It wasn't your fualt Sinster took you powers away after you saved Sabortooth. He knew you'd to afraid to use them after Kara died. He's messing with your head." Scott said "You mean none of you blame me for what happened to her?" she asked sadly. "Of course not. It wasn't your fault." Storm said comfortingly. "Remy done a lot of t'ings in his life t'at he not proud of and t'eh Xmen help Remy t'rough t'em. T'ey not blame me for t'eh stuf i did t' ey not blame you neither cheri." he said with his arms still around her. After sometime of talking with them she slowly relaxed enough to go back to sleep. She had another nightmare. The woman would lead her down a dark alley then she would turn into Kara, but this time she wasn't blaming her for her death. She was telling her of another death. "The man you love will put himself in harms way to save you. You must use your power to save him are you'll lose him forever." she said as she disappeared. "Wait come back." she shouted. She was shouting it loud in her sleep and was woke up by Remy. "Cheri it's alright wake up." he said as he softly shook her awake. "Remy?" she sleeply. "Yea Cheri it's me and everyt'ing be ok now." he said as he hedl her in his arms. He laid down beside her and held her close to him as she went back to sleep. They slept like that the whole night. When morning came Jessica woke up in Remy's arms. It felt good being held by him she snuggled up against him and fell back asleep.
