Thundercats

ThunderCats was my all time favorite cartoon. Still is. Man, I lived slept and ate ThunderCats. The ThunderCats were brought back to Cartoon Network in the summer of 1997, and has been removed from Toonami's rotation and replaced by Superfriends. Like a big spear through my head. Maybe somday it will be back. Created in the UK in 1983, and aired in 1985 (to '87) the ThunderCats followed an increasing trend of creating a cartoon series after a toy line (He-Man, GI Joe). ThunderCats was made by Japanese animators, and looks and feels like a cartoon ten years ahead of its time. The main characters were six half-cat, half-human, creatures who fight for truth and justice. The ThunderCats had to flee their home planet, Thundera, when it exploded. For a while they thought they were the only refugees to survive. They boarded a spaceship, and crawled into cryogenic capsules, so they wouldn't age during their voyage. All except for their leader, Jaga. Evil Mutants attacked the ship, damaging it's navigational devices. Jaga died piloting the ship to safety. Therefore, the title of Lord of the ThunderCats was passed down to Lion-O, then only a child. The ThunderCats drifted off to a small planet called Third Earth. Lion-O awoke to find that his capsule had not worked, and that he had grown into a man during the voyage. The ThunderCats built a cool fortress, The Cat's Lair, and a really cool ride, the kickass ThunderTank, and fought the Mumm-Ra, and his evil henchmen, the Mutants. They also hung out with the Berbils, Wolos, and the Warrior Maidens. In the fourth and last season they added three new Thundercats (stupid, stupid, stupid!!), Snarf's gay-assed nephew, and a band of villains called The Lunataks. This cartoon had driving action, interesting characters, and the best cartoon villain of all time, Mumm-Ra.
