Biographical Information

Jonathan LaPaglia was born and raised in Adelaide, Autralia. He is the youngest of three boys. The oldest is actor Anthony LaPaglia (Murder One), the middle is Michael, a car wholesaler in Los Angeles.

LaPaglia was trained as a doctor and worked for three years as an ER physician in Adelaide, Sydney, and London. He began taking acting classes while still working as a doctor. In 1994 he quit his job and moved to New York City, where he enrolled in the Circle in the Square Theatre School. His break came in 1996, when he was cast as Detective Tommy McNamara for the last season of New York Undercover.

LaPaglia, 31, lived in L.A. last year and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia when Seven Days started taping there this year. He lives with actress Ursula Brooks ("Sugar Town").

The shows executive producer, Christopher Crowe says, "He's a physician by trade, so he doesn't have much to prove by being a matinee idol. It's not his whole life." Costar Justina Vail (Olga Vukavitch) says, "He's extremely bright, but he's very humble."

Information for this biography was found in the December 18, 1999 issue of "TV Guide." The article is titled "Doctor No More" and was written by Mark Nollinger.
