Billy Fleshes Out

Billy Campbell reports he's being "put through the wringer" on "Once and Again" this season -- and loving it.

"They're taking a little more advantage of me this year than last, when I was a bit, well, I wouldn't say 'underused' but ... They had to spend time developing the show and fleshing out Sela Ward's family -- it's reasonable," he says. However, this season, "They're fleshing out my family."

And his family -- that is, the family of divorced-man-in-love Rick -- is having hard times. "Eli [Shane West] is having a meltdown in school. Jessie [Evan Rachel Wood], the youngest, is having some problems that are exacerbated by the divorce. I'm also under a lot of pressure at work." And he and his love, Lily [Ward], are finding the road of romance rockier as they go. Sums up Campbell happily, "I'm getting it from all sides."

When the actor is asked why he thinks he was cast as Moses in NBC's "In The Beginning" miniseries, which airs Nov. 12 and 13, he quips, "God knows."__The Hartford Courant Company (November 3, 2000)
