ABC cancels "Once and Again"

By JOHN LEVESQUE

Never again: The inevitable has happened. ABC yesterday canceled "Once and Again," an acclaimed series about divorce, remarriage and blended families.

The last episode will air April 15. Despite an enormous effort by supporters to keep the show alive, ABC Entertainment president Susan Lyne dropped the ax, saying the program has "passionately devoted fans who deserve a fully realized conclusion."

In an ABC statement co-creator Marshall Herskovitz said: "We are proud and honored to have reached and touched as many people as we did over the course of three years. We have always judged our efforts on the basis of the passion with which they are received, not by the size of their ratings." __ Seattle Post Intelligencer (March 29, 2002)
