Taustatietoja

Jokereilla soi historiansa rock-pitoisin biisivalikoima kaudella 1999-2000. Seuraavat kaksi kautta Jokereiden kotipelien musiikeista vastasi DJ Illu, joka soitti myös poppia. DJ Illun keksintö oli alkaa soittaa erien alussa Sopranos-TV-sarjasta tunnettua R.L. Burnsiden melodista "It's Bad You Know"'ta, josta tuli eräänlainen Jokerien tunnusbiisi kevääseen 2003 saakka.

Kaudella 2002-03 Jokerien kuuluttajaksi tuli Joke "Stadin Säkki" Linnamaa, joka otti myös musiikkipuolen hoidettavakseen. Linnamaan idea oli tarjota "kaikille jotakin" - Spice Girlsiä pikkutytöille, Suomi-iskelmiä varttuneille katsojille, Bomfunk MC'siä nuorisolle ja päälle rockia. Tämä konsepti ei jääkiekkopeleissä ole toimiva, ja erityisesti alkukaudella Jokeri-kannattajat vaativat sekamelskaan muutosta.

Tanssimusiikki sai jalansijaa Jokerien kotipelien musiikeissa kaudella 2003-04, kun musiikista vastaaminen siirtyi jälleen uudelle taholle. Kauden alussa Jokerien maalibiisinä soi Rob Zombien "Never Gonna Stop", jonka tilalle Jokeri-kannattajat vaativat jyrkästi takaisin Rocky-elokuvista tuttua "Gonna Fly Now" -biisiä. Maalibiisi vaihdettiinkin lokakuussa Bill Contin melko hidastempoiseen "Gonna Fly Now" -biisiin. Tämä versio "Gonna Fly Now"'sta ei käsittääkseni kuitenkaan ennen ollut soinut Jokerien maalibiisinä.

The Rocky Orchestran normaalitempoinen "Gonna Fly Now" oli Jokerien maalibiisi Helsingin jäähallissa 1990-luvun alusta alkaen. Syksyllä 1997 seuran siirryttyä Hartwall Areenalle Jokerien maalibiisiksi vaihtui Maynard Fergusonin nopeatempoinen versio "Gonna Fly Now"'sta. Tämä soi Jokereiden maalibiisinä kevääseen 2003 saakka.
