DAYS SPIN-OFF??
According to sources close to Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe), Jay Johnson (Philip), Farah Fath (Mimi), and Kirsten Storms (Belle), Days has approached the teens about doing a spin-off for NBC. The soap would be based on the lives of the Salem High students. The only teen not contacted about the role was Jason Cook (Shawn). NBC and Corday productions are currently denying the rumors.

STEFANO OUT?
Joseph Mascolo (Stefano) announced on his website that after failed contract negotiations he is leaving the show when his contract expires, but he is not quitting! Joe wants Stefano to take a break, but the show is not opposed to recasting the part.

On Wednesday, May 23rd, Marcy Kaplan reprises the role of "Marlo" when she appears to Lexie in a nightmare.

JENNIFER RETURNS TO SALEM
Melissa Reeves first airdate starts on October 13, but we will not see her face until October 18. Jen's daughter Abby (Paige Kettner) will be with her.

MELISSA REEVES RETURNING??
According to Soap Star World Melissa Reeves who played the original Jennifer Horton has just signed a deal to return to the show. There have been rumors that she was returning and whether this is true or not we will just have to wait and see.

Jensen Ackles will make a return for one last episode on August 23... Aaron Von Wagner (Jason), Heather Olson (Jan), and Valerie Wildman (Fay Walker) have all been upped to contract status... Kyle Lowder has been cast as Brady Black and will first appear on August 21... Deidre Hall's real life twin sister Andrea Hall-Gengler has been cast as Hattie Adams... Kathy Connell will take over the role of Maureen Lockhart August 15.

It has been reported that Deidre Hall has just signed another contract to stay with Days for 2 more years. This confirms that the rumors were false.

MARLENA OUT?
Deidre Hall's (Marlena) contract is up this summer and she has yet to resign. Some sources are worried that after 25 years with Days she might decide to work on another project. Hall though has given no indication that she will leave Days. Could the letter from Isreal be a way of writing Marlena off the show?

William Utay (Rolf) was recently in a pilot for a television series called “Dads”. Utay might leave DOOL if the new series is picked up by a network.

BACK TO ZENON
During September Kirsten Storms (Belle) is leaving the show for about a month due to the filming of the sequel to Disney’s Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century. The good thing for all of you Belle fans is that she is taping some of her scenes before she leaves so she will still be on the show during her absence.

Congratulations to Steve Wyman, who was named Co-Executive Producer of Days of our Lives effective immediately. Executive Producers Ken Corday and Tom Langan state, "We are very excited and pleased to announce the promotion of Steve Wyman to Co-Executive Producer. As he has done for the past many years, Steve will continue to work with all of us in creating a better Days of our Lives using all of his talents, which are many." Steve joined the Days of our Lives family as director in 1984 and became a producer in 1993.

WEBSTER OUT?
Color us stunned. Victor Webster, who plays the dashing Nicholas on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, will be soon switching from contract status to recurring. Webster, the former model who took daytime by storm a little more than a year ago, was recently told by the show's producers that Nicholas would go on recurring status as of April 13. Most soap fans know that prior to being let go altogether, many actors are put on recurring.

DAYS SHUT OUT AT SOAP DIGEST AWARDS!
For the first time since 1980 and 1981 Days came away with no winners in last night's Soap Opera Digest Awards. Bryan Datillo, Alison Sweeney, Lauren Koslow, Kevin Spirtas, and Kristian Alfonso were all nominated, but lost. General Hospital came home the big winner, winning four awards including best show. All My Children also did well winning four out of the five categories they were nominated in. The only highlight of the evening for me was "Timmy" on Passions winning for Outstanding Scene Stealer

The Writers Guild of America honored Days Of Our Lives with their first WGA Award for "Outstanding Script for a Television Daytime Serial" at their ceremony on Sunday, March 5th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Real life husband and wife actors Bradley Whitford and Jane Kaczmarek presented the award to former Days head writer Sally Sussman-Morina for 3 consecutive episodes that chronicled Sami's execution in June of 1999. In her acceptance speech, Sally thanked Days executive producers Ken Corday and Tom Langan and paid tribute to the entire Days writing staff and the wonderful actors who brought the very emotional and difficult material to life.

Soap guru Lynda Hirsh of Cleveland's WKYC Channel 3 makes her predictions on tonight's Soap Opera Awards. KURT CUT
There have been many rumors circulating about Matt Mahaney (Kurt)staying or leaving Days. It has now been confirmed that he will be leaving the show. The show was thinking about keeping him, but had a change of heart. Look for his last airdate to be sometime in April. No details have been given on how his character will exit the show.

TWO IN A ROW
Congratulations to Days of Our Lives for winning its second TV Guide award for Best Soap Opera. This was on only the the second annual TV Guide awards and Days has won in the same category both years. Days was nominated with "All My Children," "Young and the Restless," and "General Hospital."

Soap Talk Queen Linda Hirsh will be appearing in upcoming episodes of days. Not much has been revealed about her role except she will be French and in a uniform.

BOOMERANG AWARDS!
Congratulations to the Days winners of Australia's Golden Boomerang Awards! Days of Our Lives took home the honor for Best Show. "Marlena's Possession" won for Best Storyline. Joe Mascolo (Stefano) won for Best Bad Guy, while Louise Sorel (Vivian) took home the award for Best Bad Girl. Austin and Carrie won the Boomerang for Best Young Lovers. Peter Reckell (Bo) and Deidre Hall (Marlena) took home the prize for Best Male and Best Female. A Special Award was given to the soap couple that was featured on the cover of the largest selling issue of TV SOAP Magazine of 1999, Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso, which was a trip to Australia! Great job, Days!

Watch "Wheel of Fortune" the week of February 7-11 for many "Days" stars participating for their favorite charities on soap week. WRITER DEFECTS
Associate head writer Addie Walsh will be leaving her post at "Days" shortly to assume the same role on "All My Children."

IN LOVING MEMORY
Fran Ryan, who played Bill and Laura Horton's housekeeper, Rosie Carlson, from 1976-1979, passed away on January 15, 2000 in Burbank of natural causes. She was 83. In 1955, she first appeared on television in Gunsmoke,in the recurring role of Hannah. She joined "Days" in 1976 as Rosie, and ended up helping deliver her employee's daughter, Jennifer. In gratitude, Bill and Laura gave Jennifer the middle name of Rose. Ryan is survived by her son, Chris. A memorial service will be held at 1PM Monday, January 28, 2000 at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills in Griffith Park.

KIRSTEN NOMINATED
Congratulations go out to Kirsten Storms (Belle), who received a Young Artist Award nomination as Outstanding Leading Young Actress in a TV Movie or Pilot for her starring role in the Disney Channel movie "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century." The 21st Annual Young Artist Awards will be announced this March 19.

2000 EMMY NEWS
It's Daytime Emmy season again. This year's nominations will be announced on March 15. The awards, honoring work from the calendar year 1999, will be broadcast live from New York City on Friday night, May 19, 2000 on ABC. Jensen Ackles (Eric) will be looking for his third straight nomination, while other "Days" hopefuls this year include Patrika Darbo (Nancy), Kristian Alfonso (Hope/Gina) and newcomer Jason Cook (Shawn).

KRISTIAN ALFONSO has renewed her contract and will continue as Days of Our Lives' Hope. "I am delighted to stay with the show," the actress beamed to Soap Opera Digest. "I'm thrilled by what they have planned for the future." Alfonso first appeared in Salem, USA in 1983.
