Short summary: *** this fanfic is a Josh and Katie romance that tells the story of the relationship of Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes behind the scenes of Dawson's Creek.***

"See ya." Katie called out as she waved to James before climbing through the window. "See ya." James replied in a sad tone. The camera panned to his face, trying to capture the emotions. "Cut." The director called out. "Let's go again, but from a different angle this time."

Both Katie and James nodded at his instructions. They knew that they didn't have to do anything, but re-enact the same scene exactly like they had done before. The camera was moved as the two actors were dusted with blushers and more make up, for their final touch ups.

This time the camera followed Katie's movements as she said goodbye to her friend and swung her leg over the windowsill. She was nearly out of there when the prop window came crashing down on her head. James and the rest of the crew jumped to her side, to see if she was okay. They weren't sure if they were supposed to call the paramedics or her manager first. "Katie." Voices were calling from here and there. She rubbed her sore head a little and burst into a fit of laughter. Everyone literally took one step back, shocked at her reaction. The production assistant ran to get a bag of ice to put on her head. She looked fine, but was acting weird.

She noticed the stares that everyone was giving her and laughed again. Her head did hurt, but somehow it just seemed too funny. She clutched her stomach as the muscles in her stomach contracted from her laughing fit. "Is she alright?" A crewmember asked in a concerned voice. "Katie?" James crouched down, rubbing her leg in a worried manner. "I'm okay…I think." She giggled, brushing off his hand. She tried to stand up, but lost her balance and fell right into James' arms. She giggled once more as everyone gave her a worried look.

"Katie, you're done for the day." The director wiped the sweat off his brow and dismissed everyone. "Ten minute break, everyone." All the crewmembers smiled quietly, trying not to look happy especially when Katie had been injured, but they couldn't help it. Everyone was exhausted and was eager for the break. "I'll walk you to your trailer." James offered. Katie shrugged and walked beside him. "So what's up?" He asked nonchalantly. She raised an eyebrow. "What's up is I banged my head pretty bad." She rolled her eyes and chuckled a little. "No. I'm talking about the whole day. You've been fucking up your lines."

"Well, excuse me. Give a girl a break. Geez." She snapped at him as they neared her trailer. "Look, it's just that I know that something has been on your mind all day." He spoke up as she unlocked the key to her trailer, trying desperately to reach out to her.

"Nothing is bothering me. So can we please drop it?" She opened the door and took in a deep breath. "Really, nothing's wrong. I'm just a little tired that's all. That's for caring though." She smiled as genuinely as possible. He shrugged and shoved his hands into his jean pockets and nodded at her, before walking away.

"You know, he came home last night…alone." With that he disappeared into the sound stage. Katie stood in front of her trailer and smiled faintly to herself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Katie lay on the small twin size bed, which was in her trailer and sighed to herself. She tossed and turned for a while and sat up abruptly. She decided that she was going to go home. The director did tell her that she could go. She had no reason to stay whatsoever. She reached for her shoes and put them on. She felt a little dizzy, but she was sure that she could drive home in one piece. She fished out her trailer key, opened the door and gasped as she found someone standing right in front of her. "Hey." He smiled meekly. "Hey." She greeted back uncomfortably. She didn't remember how she had behaved last night, but she was sure that she was not civil.

"So…" Josh left off. Realizing that she didn't invite him in, she smacked her head with her hand and moaned as the ringing in her head started again. He quickly caught her arm, horrified. She smiled weakly and opened the trailer door wide open so that he could come in. He stepped inside and sat down on the couch. She bit her lower lip nervously and sat next to him. "So…" This time she trailed off. "I heard that you knocked your head pretty bad." He reached out to touch her head. She winced a little, but smiled.

"Yeah, nothing serious. I was just careless." She tried to make light of the situation. "So are you going home?" He asked quietly. She nodded. She knew this was not why he came here. He wanted to talk about what went down last night. She prayed silently that he wouldn't bring up the subject.

"Well, I came here to-" He stopped. For a moment she thought that he had seen the pleading in her eyes. "I guess-" He stopped again. He seemed like he couldn't find the words to say. She heard him let out a breath. "What I'm trying to say is that-" She smiled at how adorable he looked. He laughed sheepishly and got up.

"Take care princess." He bent over and kissed the top of her head then left the trailer. Katie sat on the couch with her eyes closed, took in a deep breath then stretched out on the couch. She yawned a couple of times, settled into a comfortable then fell into a deep sleep.
