Short summary: *** this fanfic is a Josh and Katie romance that tells the story of the relationship Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes behind the scenes of Dawson's Creek.***

"Meredith." Katie called out to the blonde girl, who was walking ahead of her. "Hey!" Meredith waved at her. "Going to wardrobe?" She asked. "Yup." She nodded. "Me too." Katie couldn't believe that she had been worried about Mere kissing Josh. The girl was a sweetheart. It was impossible to dislike her. It also helped that she was in a serious relationship. They walked past a group of fans, who were shouting at them for autographs. "How do you get used to this?" Meredith asked her. "You don't." Katie couldn't help, but grin. "What are you ladies talking about? I hope it's not about me." Josh ran up to them, causing the fans to scream harder. "Not everything's about you. Katie was giving me some advice." "Katie gave you advice? What is the world coming to?" He teased.
Katie sat in her trailer, trying to soak in the material. Summer was over and it was back to memorizing lines and wearing cakes of make up. Her manager had called to tell her that the movie offers were slow this time of the year. She didn't believe him. He was just trying to lay it on her gently. Maybe she should've taken small cameo roles like Josh did. He had two movies coming out. One was a horror flick called Urban Legend and the other was a dark nazi film. The last movie she had seen him in was Scream 2, which he did as a favor for Kevin. However, his role had been small. Hopefully this time there would be more of him in these movies.
Her movie, Disturbing Behavior, was due to be released soon. July 24th to be exact. She was a nervous wreck. She had called her manager around eight times today. There was a knock on the door. She checked her watch. It wasn't time for her to shoot yet. "Katie." The production assistant knocked louder. "Coming." She got onto her feet and quickly ran to open the door while it was still there. "Kevin wants to see you." He said. "Is he in his office?" She asked. He nodded then left quickly as a voice spoke into his headphone.
Katie quickly gathered her stuff so that she could go straight into makeup after talking to Kevin. His chats were usually time consuming and she was right. The moment she walked through the door, he started to ramble on about a new script he had just finished. He had been working on it for a long time, but only just completed it. She sat down and listened to him talk enthusiastically about his screenplay.
"Sounds great. I'm so happy for you." She smiled as he finished telling her the brief storyline. "Here." He handed her the script. She held it in her hand limply, not understanding why he was giving it to her. "This will be my last season. I have movies to do and other shows lined up." He said. "What?" Her eyes grew wide. "I haven't really told anyone yet except for the network executives and the producers." "You're leaving us?" Her voice came out squeaky. "Greg and Tom will be here. They know how it works." "Wow. This is so sudden." She shook her head a little. "I'm not leaving today or tomorrow. I'll be hanging around for a while." He reassured her. "When are you going to tell the rest?" She asked. "Soon." He replied. "Things won't be the same without you though." "I know." He grinned. "I wasn't talking about the show." She rolled her eyes. "Now that you're gone, maybe we'll win an Emmy or two." "You wish." He chuckled. "Well, I better get to makeup then." She rose from her seat. "Don't forget the script." He reminded her. "I really want you to have a look at it."
"What are you reading there?" Josh came from behind, scaring her. "Some script Kevin just completed." She replied as she turned a page. "Gonna audition for it?" She shook her head. "Just reading it?" She nodded. "Killing Mrs. Tingles." He read the title out loud. "Stop distracting me." She took off her glasses and set them on the bed. "I'm not." He protested. "Just curious why he gave it to you to read." He continued. "Maybe he wanted my expertise." "Maybe, but not likely." He seemed deep in thought. "What?" She asked. "Nah. It's probably nothing. So are you going to finish reading it?" He laid his head on her knees. "You're really good at this." She pointed out. "I know." He smirked, grabbing the script from her hands. "Hey!" She pouted. "How can you sit and read this," He flipped through the thick script, "when you have me." "Hmmm…" She rubbed her chin. "Script or you." She pretended to think. "Yup. You have to choose." He crossed his arms. "This is so hard." She furrowed her eyebrows. "Thanks." He rolled his eyes. In one swift move, she took the script from his clutches and threw it off the bed. "That's my answer." She grinned.
