Short summary: *** this fanfic is a Josh and Katie romance that tells the story of the relationship Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes behind the scenes of Dawson's Creek.***

Katie fanned herself with the script she held in her hand. This summer had gone by too fast. James had gone home to Connecticut, stopping by in New York to meet Heather. It seemed that things were serious between the two. Michelle had gone home too, but only for a brief period. She had to wrap up shooting a Halloween sequel. With Josh at Vancouver for a couple of weeks, she took the opportunity to visit Toledo. Now here they were back at the studio lot, all four of them.
"Did you hear about the two new castmembers?" Michelle asked them. "Yeah. Kevin told me about them when he got back from the audition. Aren't they coming in today?" James replied. "I can't wait. Finally, a girl for Pacey to banter with." Josh rubbed his hands together. "He only gets to banter with one girl and that's Joey." She elbowed him. "Stop with the violence woman." "Say woman one more time and I'll…" She poised her fingers over his bleached hair. "Hell fucking no. Not the hair. My scalp bled for this."
"Thank God I'm a natural blonde." James said with relief. "Yeah. Too bad about the receding hairline though." Josh shook his head. "I'm not going bald. It's my forehea-" He didn't finish the sentence, realizing he would lose either way. The three of them laughed, as he grew red. "No more teasing poor Jimbo." Josh sputtered. "And please stop calling me Jimbo." James pouted.
"Everyone." Kevin walked into the lot with two strangers behind him. "This is Kerr Smith and this beautiful lady here is Meredith Monroe." "No relation to Marilyn Monroe." She grinned. "Let me introduce the gang. This is James, Katie-" "We've watched the show." Kerr interrupted. "You guys did your homework. I'm impressed." Kevin "Well, Meredith Monroe no relations to Marilyn Monroe, it's a pleasure to meet you." Josh stepped forward, extending his large hand for her to shake. "Katie Holmes." She spoke up as Kerr shook her hand firmly. After the brief introduction, they immediately went into a table reading. As Katie took her usual seat next to Josh, Kevin shook his head.
"Katie, do you think Meredith could sit next to him from now on? Most of her scenes are going to be with him." Her face fell, but she understood. She moved to the next seat, next to Michelle, who gave her a sympathetic look. She couldn't help, but glance occasionally over at Josh and Meredith, who were laughing at something in the script. "Cheer up a little." Michelle elbowed her gently. "Like Marilyn over there?" She rolled her eyes. "She's here to stay. You do know that right?" Her friend reminded her. "I know. Don't mind me. I'm just being a bitch today." She sighed looking over to her boyfriend again.
She fluffed her pillow as she listened to Josh babble on about the script. "I can't wait to see where they go with this." He said excitedly. "Sex?" She said casually. She saw his expression from the corner of her eyes and he definitely didn't look happy. "Tamara was about sex too." She mumbled and slid under the sheets. "What's wrong?" He asked as he flung his shirt onto the floor. "Nothing." She lied. "You are pissed." He pulled his pants down and kicked it off his feet. "I'm not pissed. I'm just… I don't know what I am." She threw her hands up in frustration. "It's called anger honey." He said matter-of-factly. "I told you. I'm not pissed." She said in an aggravated voice. "Was it the table read?" "No." She replied quickly. "It was the table read." "You are this close to pissing me off." She warned him. "I am pissing you off? Oh sorry that I am overjoyed by the face that my character gets a decent storyline." He said with sarcasm.
"I want to be more than just a sidekick." He said a little more softly this time. All these times she didn't stop to think about him, who lived in James' shadow when it was clear who had more talent out of the two. "I'm sorry. I am happy for you." She sat up and hugged her knees. "Then why the scowl?" He crawled onto the bed. "I'm not scowling." She protested. "Don't lie to me." His voice turned serious. "How do you do it?" She blurted out. "Do what?" He was confused.
"How do you sit there and watch the person you love kiss someone else right in front of you?" "Because it's acting?" He chuckled. "Then is it just me? Am I being silly? I don't know how I will feel watching you kiss some other girl day by day. And I know that I'm supposed to be professional and stop whining about something as stupid as this, but I can't help it. I don't know about you, but I've never dated another celebrity." She poured out.
"You're not Joey and I'm not Pacey." He kissed her forehead lightly. "Remember that." "Yeah yeah. We're Josh and Katie, the supercouple. I remember." She joked. "Supercouple? Does that mean we have to wear our underwears over our pants?" He grinned. "How about we leave our underwears off… entirely." She said suggestively. "I can live with that." He pulled her into his arms as she shrieked.
