Katie sighed as her cell phone rang. Irritated, she pulled the pillow over her head. After four more rings the noise subsided. Within seconds, the device started to ring again. The thought of talking to her manager during her vacation wasn't appealing, but the thought that it could be her mother, worried out of her mind, was what made her drag herself out of bed. She fumbled around for her pants, which were strewn on the floor along with her shirt and underclothes. She quickly picked up the phone and slipped back under the sheets.
"Hello?" She whispered. She was right, it was her mother. She was asking what took her so long to answer the phone. She couldn't tell her mother that she was exhausted after having mind blown sex with her boyfriend. "I was sleeping." She answered her mother's question. "He's sleeping too." She said sheepishly. It wasn't that her mom disliked Josh. Her parents were just wary about her dating a castmember. They had warned her that she was playing with fire. She wasn't naïve enough to think that they would last forever. She knew the rules of life. She knew that this could lead to the biggest heartbreak of her life. However, she also knew that he was worth the risk. "We're going back in a couple of days." She replied cautiously.
It wasn't what her mother was saying that bothered her. It was what she wasn't saying. "Is there something else?" She asked bluntly. She massaged her temple as she listened to her mother. "What?" She shouted out loud. "No! I am not pregnant." She hissed. She couldn't believe that there was a rumor floating around that she was pregnant. She had been prepared for the tabloid, but this was ridiculous. What had she ever done to make anyone even think that she would be pregnant? Suddenly she remembered the conversation she had had with Michelle. "What does dad think of all this?" She held her breath. The answer made her smile. Her father thought it was hilarious.
"Alright. I'll call you when I get home." She nodded even though her mother couldn't see her. "Okay. I love you too. Bye." She turned off her cell phone and placed in on the bedside table. It was eight in the morning and there was no way she could go back to sleep. She lay down facing his back, drawing little hearts on his skin. She couldn't help, but wonder how he would've reacted if she were really pregnant. She wasn't ready to settle down and have kids, but she was curious if he would've wanted her to keep their child or not.
"That tickles." He said groggily. "Sorry." She withdrew her hand. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Nothing." "Don't lie to me." He sounded serious and awake. "My mother just called. She asked me if I was pregnant." There was a long pause. "I am not pregnant." She rubbed his back with reassurance. "It's a stupid rumor. Must be the tabloid." She explained. He still didn't say a word and it was worrying her. "Say something." She nudged him with her foot. "Fucking hilarious." He blurted out with laughter.
"Stop laughing. It's not funny." She slapped his back, but she couldn't help the smile that was growing on her face. "It's not funny." She repeated, hitting him a little harder. "Alright. Stop. I'll stop." He chuckled. "Thank you." She wrapped her arms around his waist. "But you would tell me right?" He asked in a serious tone. "What?" "If you were pregnant, you would tell me right?" He laced his fingers with hers. "Of course." She smiled. If only her parents knew the hands she was in.
"Must've been one hell of a vacation because you guys are looking fucking good." James welcomed them as they walked into the apartment. "Jimmy boy, did you start spring cleaning without me because the place looks fucking spotless." Josh feigned hurt. "It's way past spring." James replied. Katie dropped her bag on the floor and plopped onto the couch. She had one hell of a laundry to do tonight. His too since he only did them once a month. "Where's Shumba?" Josh asked his roommate. "Michelle took him for the night." "Pimping out my dog?" He wagged his finger at him with disapproval.
"No, I had to clean the house. I don't know what's the fucking use. You're gonna mess it up and I'm going to have to clean up after you." James sighed. "You missed me." Josh teased. "I hate my life." He threw his hands up in the air.
