"All I wanna do…" James crooned, while swaying to the music playing in his head. "Is have some fun." Josh joined in, almost tripping over a can on the sidewalk. Katie laughed and let out a little hiccup. It was four in the morning and they were all smashed. It was a good thing that the streets of Wilmington were empty. "You weren't supposed to get drunk." James slurred, shaking his finger at her. "Yeah." Josh nodded. "You…" He pointed at her. "Were supposed to be the designed…" He shook his head. "No, wait. The designated…" He snapped his fingers. "Yeah! The designated driver." He finished. "No, no no." She shook her head. "You were supposed to be the designated driver." She poked him hard in the chest, nearly making him fall.
"I can't. Look." He lifted his injured hand and waved it in front of her face. "Clumsy bastard." James chuckled. "Fuck you. You can't even piss properly!" Josh laughed out loud. "I'm tired now." She pouted, leaning a little on her boyfriend. "Where's our car?" "I don't know." He replied, rubbing his chin, trying to remember. "At home?" "Vancouver? When did you take it there?" James asked incredulously. "No, silly." She giggled. "Where's yours?" She asked him. "I don't know too." He answered, genuinely confused. "Isn't Shumba in the car?" She eyes grew wide. "No, no, no! He's at home!" Josh answered. "Vancouver?" James asked again. "Here!" She rolled her eyes. "I don't see Shumba." He said in a sing song voice, twirling around in circles. "How do we go home then?" Josh asked, pushing James, who stumbled a little. "Walk?" She suggested. "And he didn't mean Vancouver!" She yelled at James. They had walked quite a distance from the bar. "How far?" She asked them. "Not far." Josh said, putting an arm around her. "Home it is!" James shouted, walking backward. "Home!" The three cheered on, as they embarked on the nearly one mile long journey.
Katie buried her head in her pillow as the phone rang. From next to her, Josh threw his pillow at it, but missed. She rolled over and slowly picked up the receiver. "Hello?" She tried to say as the pounding in her head got louder. "Where are you guys?" It was the production assistant. "Kevin is looking all over for you!" "Sleeping." "It's nine o'clock! You are going to start shooting by ten." She jumped up, looking for the clock. It was nine. "We'll be right there!" She quickly hung up. "Josh! Josh!" She shook him. He grunted then pulled the pillow over his head. "We're late!" She shouted. Pulling at him, then pushing. "Do I have to go? The doctor said to lay off work…" He complained. "You have some face shots though." She got off the bed, throwing his clothes at him as he got up. She pulled on a shirt and a pair of sweats. "Quickly." She rushed him. He got dressed then slowly made his way to the bathroom. "We don't have time for that." She said. "It won't take long." He rolled his eyes. She picked up the phone and dialed James' number. No answer.
"He's not picking up." She yelled to Josh. "Go down and wake him up." He shouted back. "I'll see you at the garage. Bring Shumba too." She put on her shoes and ran out of the apartment. She didn't bother to wait for the elevator. She tore down the stairs and banged at his door. "James!" She shouted. "Coming." A voice from the other side yelled. "What the fuck-" He barely got out. "We're late! We have to start shooting soon." She gushed out. "Shit!" He yelled. He ran back into his room as Katie called for Shumba. Soon the three of them got in the elevator, heading for the garage. "Where's Josh?" James asked.
"He's meeting us at the garage." She answered, willing the elevator to move faster. They finally arrived at the garage and there was Josh standing, looking very confused. "Where's my car?" He held his car keys in his hand. "It's at the studio remember? So is Katie's. We'll just take mine." James ushered them to his parking space, except it was also empty too. "Okay. Where the fuck is my car?" He looked at his friends.
She shook her leg as she sat on the fold out chair, waiting for her turn. Shumba sat at her feet, glancing around for Josh, just as she was. "That's my chair." James complained as he sat on the chair labeled "Katie". "How long left?" She asked him, referring to Josh's break. He checked his watch. "Ten minutes." He said. "Ten?" She asked, trying to hear over the loud music from the radio. He nodded. "So did you find your car?" She asked, giggling. "Yes. It's at the bar." He waved a hand at the crewmember, asking them to put the volume down a notch. "How did we get home?" She scratched her head. He gave her a blank look, confused himself. "Maybe we called the cab." She said. "Yeah." He agreed. Shumba suddenly got up and jumped around excitedly. "I'm tired!" Josh came from behind, stretching. "My feet kills!" Katie took off one of her slippers, massaging them slowly. He sat next to his two friends, trying to stifle a yawn. "So did you find the car?" He asked James. "At the bar." Katie answered. "What is it doing there?" Josh asked incredulously. "My guess is that we took a cab home." She quipped. "Only because the designated driver got drunk." He teased.
"Hey, that's not fair. You guys could've stopped me." She countered. "Sure and endure your wrath?" James rolled his eyes. "Hey!" She shouted at him. "This isn't fair! You guys are ganging up on me now." "We're not ganging up on you." Josh denied, chuckling. The sound of them arguing got louder until a song came on the radio. "All I wanna do is have some fun until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard." Sheryl Crow sang. Katie yawned as she stood in line in the cafeteria tent. Today's lunch, spaghetti and meatball. She grabbed a tray and waited as Kevin shuffled along in front of her.
"We just need to wrap one more scene." He assured her. "Then it is back to Vancouver." She sighed. The thought of leaving her boyfriend again made her heart ache. "Aren't you nearly done with filming?" He reached for a bottle of spring water as she placed the plate of spaghetti onto her tray. "I'm nearly done with my scenes." She yawned again. "Okay, the three of you have been yawning all day. Was there a party that I wasn't invited to?" He eyed her suspiciously, handing her the bottled water. "Thanks and no, there was no party. We just had some drinks, that's all." She said lightly. They walked over to a table where some of the crews were sitting at.
"Must've been some drink if you took a cab home." He chuckled. "Didn't you guys have a designated driver?" "I was the designated driver and it appears that I have broken some sort of an honor code." She rolled her eyes. "You didn't! You got drunk?" He said in an appalled voice. "Stop it! What's the big deal?" "Katie Holmes shame on you." He tsked, shaking his head.
