"Scott, do you know where Josh is?" Katie asked him as he was throwing something for Shumba to retrieve. Unfortunately for him, Shumba was too lazy. "The last time I saw him, he said something about pr-" "Props right?" She nodded her head in amusement. Everyone was on a tight schedule today, yet Josh seemed to have all the time in the world for snakes and ghouls to play with. "So how are the two love birds today?" Scott asked her nonchalantly. "You know?" She asked incredulously. "Was it supposed to be a secret?" He asked carefully. "Well, not really. I don't know." She shrugged. "So you haven't discussed whether or not-" "Yeah. We haven't really talked about it yet." She interrupted him. "I mean, what do we do? Do we keep this as our little secret or do we announce it to the whole world?" She asked in an exasperated voice. "Calm down." He placed a hand on her arm. "It's not Halloween yet." He shivered with a chuckle. "Oh great. Another comic!" She rolled her eyes and smacked him in the arm lightly. "Just remember that you're not dating this one." He winked. "Michelle!" Katie yelled. "Okay, I'll stop." He said quickly. "Good." She smiled triumphantly. "So what do you think?" "That you're a cheater." He answered. "No, about the whole secret thing." She referred to their conversation regarding her relationship with Josh.
"I don't know about that. I mean, if you keep it a secret and someone finds out about this, it could be a big deal. However, you shouldn't have to hide it. It's not something you should be ashamed of." "I'm not ashamed!" She shook her head adamantly. "So we should tell everyone?" "Well, the media will have a field day with this." "Then?" "You should talk to Josh about this, not me." He advised. "That's if I can find him first." She crossed her arms. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!" A scream came from the makeup trailer and it could only belong to the one and only Michelle Williams. "Nevermind." Katie grinned, throwing an apple before heading that way. Scott frowned as Shumba eagerly ran after the fruit.
"Are you still mad at me?" Josh asked Michelle, pouting and giving her the puppy eyes. "That was not funny at all! You scared the shit out of me!" She exclaimed. Katie sighed and looked around, bored and tired. They were in the cafeteria scene filled with extras. She picked one of the French fries in her plate up and cringed. "I wouldn't eat that if I were you." James warned from beside. "I wasn't going to eat it." She threw it at him. "Eat this." Josh picked up the fake finger from his plate.
"You do know that it's not really Halloween right?" She rolled her eyes at him. "Exactly! Thank you!" Michelle nodded. "I don't need Halloween to do this." Josh pulled Katie's chair towards him and poked her with the rubber finger. "Stop!" She squealed. "That wasn't what you said last night." He whispered into her ear. "Shut up." She blushed. "Hey! Share!" Michelle shouted at them. "Better get used to it." James told his friend. "The whispering, the bickering…" "Did we tell you about this nice girl James met in New York? I believe her name was…" Katie cut him off abruptly. "Heather." Josh added. "Right. Heather." She continued with a grin. "Okay. You win. You guys always win." James raised his hands up in an act of surrender. Josh smiled and kissed Katie on the forehead. "Places." The production assistant yelled out. The extras all quickly scrambled to their positions. "I'll see you soon." James got up and walked to where the director, Kevin and the crew were standing, behind the camera. Josh quickly placed the fake finger back onto his
plate and waited as the camera rolled and the director shouted action. "My brother is in the know because he's a cop. He says the victims are all young girls around your age, Joey. Listen, this killer apparently stalks his victims with letters and phone calls before he takes a knife to their throat and cuts out their heart." Josh said. "No way." Katie scoffed. "I'm not joking. The killer collects hearts. Okay? They don't talk about that on the news because it's a little morbid. But it's true." He tried to convince her. "Its sad. I mean the guy is only looking for love." Michelle said with a grin.
"Yeah, I'm sure that'll be his defense when they find him." Katie rolled her eyes. "If they find him, Joey. You know, Dougie says this guy attacks in hundred mile increments, so that makes Capeside the next likely target." He paused a while and looked towards James who was coming towards them. "You never know where he could be. He could be behind you right now." He grinned. Katie glanced at Michelle, who was having a hard time keeping a straight face. "Ahhhhhh!" Katie screamed as James and Josh swiftly lifted the chair up in the air, with her in it. Once again she had fallen victim to another one of their pranks.
"Not in the script." The director, Mike White, muttered under his breath and shook his head. "Put me down!" Katie shouted at them, which could barely be heard over the laughter ringing throughout the room. They threw the chair in the air a little and she gripped the chair tightly. "I swear I'll kill you both!" She threatened. That only made them laugh more. This time they ran with the chair around the room then onto the hallway, like it was some jet plane. Suddenly she felt like she was back in Disney World. "I'm gonna puke." She warned. They ignored her and kept running around yelling wheeeeee.
"No! Not that way, it's slippery there! You'll fa-" It was too late. They hadn't seen the little sign on the floor, which said that it was a wet floor. The three of them skidded then fell into a pile. Katie groaned and tried to get up, but couldn't because James was heaped on top of her. "Get off of me!" She shouted at him and he slowly rolled off. She moved her arms around a little, making sure that she was okay. She was actually surprised that her head didn't hit the ground, sending her brain splattering everywhere.
"Ouch." Josh grunted. She looked behind her and found Josh sprawled out on the floor. It was his hand. It seemed like something was wrong with his hand. It was swelling and she could tell that he was in pain. "What is going on?" Kevin ran towards them. "We heard something." Michelle followed closely behind. "I don't know. We fell, but something's wrong with his hand." Katie tried to explain. "Guys, it's okay." Josh tried to get up, but winced a little. She helped him up and cradled his hand in hers. "Let's get him some ice." Kevin instructed James. "Someone go tell Mike that we're going into a fifteen minute break." Michelle nodded and ran back into the cafeteria set, where the extras and the crew were waiting. "Katie, are you okay?" He asked her. She nodded numbly. "Go tell someone to call a doctor." He told her.
"No!" Josh protested. "I don't need a doctor. Just give me a can of beer and I'll be okay." He chuckled. Katie shook her head and ran out of the lot. "Stupid kid." Kevin shook his head at Josh. "Hey, I'm wounded here." "How did everyone else manage to get out safely, but you?" He asked incredulously. "I would've thought that Katie would've had it worse." Josh avoided his eyes. "You broke her fall, didn't you?" Kevin asked slowly. "Playing hero again." He muttered. "No, just being a boyfriend." Josh replied quietly.
