"Hello my name is David Thomas and I'll be your captain for the day." The intercom buzzed. "Buckle up." Josh handed Katie her seat belt. "I have been on a plane you know? How do you think I got here from Vancouver?" She rolled her eyes and snapped the seat belt shut. "Stop with the bickering." James yelled from the front of the jet. "Fuck you." Josh shouted back.
She nudged him to shut up. Boy was she glad that they were on a jet plane, not a commercial flight. Josh had asked the people from Seventeen magazine if he could bring a friend along and they had graciously said no problem. "Nap time." He brought her hand to his lips, then put his head back. "You're going to sleep?" She asked him. "I'm tired." He yawned. "Oh well." She reached for some magazines and flipped through the pages. This was going to be one long flight.
She jerked in her seat. She had dozed off and the magazine, which was in her hand, was now on the floor. She glanced beside her and noticed that her boyfriend was no longer there. Typical of him to not wake her up. She unbuckled her seat belt and bent down to pick the magazine up. She heard a faint giggle from up front, behind the curtain that separated them from the crew. She frowned a little. It was probably the airhostess, but there was only one. Who could she possibly be giggling with? Suddenly it dawned upon her. Who else could make a woman giggle like that, but one person?
"No problem at all." She heard his voice then his footstep. He was heading back to his seat. "Hey, you're awake." He said in a surprised voice. "Yes." She snapped at him. He gave her a confused look, then got into his seat. "Want to go back to sleep?" He asked her. "Sure, you would love that, wouldn't you?" She retorted. "I would? Am I supposed to?" He had no idea what she was so worked up about. "Forget it. I'll just go back to sleep. You don't have to sit here you know? Just go do whatever you want." She puffed the small pillow then put it under her head. "Okay, I have no clue what I did wrong this time. All I did was wake up, go to the bathroom then…" He stopped. "Oh…" "Oh…" She mimicked him.
"I was walking by and I saw her picking up some cups from the floor. I just went in to lend a hand." He explained to her. "How nice of you. Sure didn't sound like you were just lending her a hand from here." "Okay. So we got talking and she's an amazing person you know? She's been all over-" "I'm sure she has." She didn't know why she was being so stubborn. It wasn't that she didn't trust him, but she didn't like to see him and another woman together, especially a tall beautiful airhostess. "It was all innocent." He nudged her playfully. "Oh fine! I'm only letting this go because I don't want your ego to grow anymore than it already has." She stuck her tongue out at him. "Didn't know you were the jealous type." He raised an eyebrow at her. "I wasn't jealous!" She denied. "You were." He argued. "Weren't" "Were to!"
"This is your captain speaking again. We will reach Wilmington International airport in approximately ten minutes. Thank you for flying with us. I hope it has been a pleasant…" The intercom droned on in the background. "Pleasant for you." She pinched his arm. "Yes and only because you were so jealous." "I wasn't! I told you!" "Stop denying it! Admit it! You were jealous." "I wasn't!" The sound of the jet losing altitude finally shut them up. They buckled up their seat belt as the land came into view. "For the last time, I wasn't jealous." She hissed at him. "Sure." He rolled his eyes. "Ugh." She cried out in frustration and he smirked at her.
The plane jolted a little as it hit the ground, running a little before it lost some speed. She took off the seatbelt quickly and glared at him. He blew her a kiss and took off his seatbelt too. "Still bickering." James muttered from his seat. She got up, reached for her bag from the overhead bag carrier.
"Need some help?" Josh offered, raising an eyebrow, eyeing her shirt that rode up a little. "Pig." She pulled at her shirt with one hand, while the other dragged the bag down. "Aw. You can't possibly be mad at me." He got up, putting his arms around her, nipping at her neck as he spoke. "And what if I am?" She pouted a little. "Then I'm flattered." He chuckled. She broke away from his arms and made her way to the front where Ms. Airhostess-of-the-year was waiting for them by the exit. He quickly grabbed his bag and followed her. "Thank you for flying with us." She gave a radiant smile as James stepped out.
"Thank you for flying with us." She repeated to Katie. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Josh." She gave him a little grin and Katie rolled her eyes. She didn't wait for Josh, who was saying farewell to his friend, and stomped off. "Wait!" He called out, jogging after her. "Katie, good luck with your movie!" The airhostess called out with a wave. "My movie?" Katie stopped dead in her track. "Well, I might have mentioned it-" He rubbed his chin. "Oh shut up!" She elbowed him with a big smile on her face.
"It's not like I-" He began to say when her lips crushed against his. "Mmm…" He murmured. "Next time I might have to punish you." She whispered softly. "Yes ma'am." He swung his arm around her shoulder and walked out towards the gate.
"Home at last." James sighed. "Yeah. I know! I can't wait to get into bed and just sleep for a very long time." Josh agreed. "I have to leave again next week." Katie grumbled a little. "I know." Josh said in a sad tone as the elevator door opened. "Well, we've got work tomorrow so I'll see you guys later then." James stepped out and Josh followed behind, stopping to say good night to his girlfriend. "So…" She stood inside the elevator, holding the door open. "So…" Josh repeated. James fished out the keys to the apartment; waved goodbye to her then went in. "I guess you should…" She gestured to his apartment. "Yeah I should…" He nodded. "Then I guess this is good night and I'll see you…" She trailed off. "In ten minutes?" He blurted out.
"No, make that five." She smiled happily and removed her hand so the elevator door could close. Waking up next to him in the morning was going to turn into a habit, one she wouldn't mind.
