Short summary: *** this fanfic is a Josh and Katie romance that tells the story of the relationship of Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes behind the scenes of Dawson's Creek.***

It was February and she was still in Vancouver shooting her movie, Disturbing Behavior. The problem was that Josh was all the way in Wilmington and Valentines Day was coming up soon. She had to go back to North Carolina to shoot an episode next week, but Josh was going to be in New York at the Seventeen magazine shoot with James.
She pulled the collar of her shirt up and quickly walked to her trailer. She wasn't done for the day yet, but it was time for her daily phone conversation with Josh. Unlike their first phone call, they spent hours discussing from philosophy to what they ate that day. She unlocked the trailer, got in and locked it. Just as she was about to call him, her cell phone rang. "Hello?" She answered, plopping onto the sofa and propped her feet up on the table. "Hey you." She could see him in a wacky Pacey shirt in his trailer, with Shumba lying at his feet. "Are you done for the day or just taking a break?" She asked.

"One more scene left then I'm done." He yawned loudly into the phone. "I wish I could tuck you into bed." She said softly. She wished so many things right now, for example, continuing where they had left off last time he was in Vancouver. "When are you coming to Wilmy?" He asked. "When you'll be in New York with James." She said in a sad tone. "Fuck." He swore frustratingly. "I know. That's exactly how I feel." She sighed. "Why don't you come over to New York?" "I can't. I have to go shoot the episode." She frowned. "Oh well…" He said in a resigned voice. "Oh well…" She repeated slowly after him.

It was Valentine's Day and the airport was filled with people rushing off to their gates. She stood at baggage claim, waiting for her green bag to appear. "Move. Move. Coming through." A heavy man from behind, pushed past her. "Excuse me." She said angrily. Things were not turning out the way it was supposed to. She was standing in the middle of a crowded airport, alone and hungry. She pushed against the man, jabbing him with her elbows. She had been pushed one too many times today and she wasn't going to give up without a fight. "Get your elbows away from me, missy." The arrogant man growled at her. "I was here first." She said in a firm voice.

"This aint no kindergarten doll" She cringed as he lifted his arm, the smell of his sweat strong enough to knock her down. At that moment, she felt someone behind her. "Excuse me, but I believe the lady was here first." She turned around and met a pair of brown eyes, soft like a puppy's. "What the fuck is this?" The old man grunted, checking out the young man, sizing him up in his mind. "Fuck this." He said then left. He must've realized that he could be beaten easily. "Thank you." Katie said gratefully to the stranger who had come to her rescue. "No problem." He extended his right hand out for her to shake. "Chris Klein." He smiled, introducing himself.

Unfortunately for Katie, the day got worse. Her bag was not at baggage claim. She had to stand in line at the airline office for twenty long minutes, before it was her turn. Then she had to wait for one hour before they finally found her bag. All was settled with an apology. By then, she didn't care anymore. She just wanted to get out of the airport. She dragged her bag behind her, making her way out of the place, and waited for a taxi.

"Taxi." She flailed her arm around; hoping one of those yellow cars would make a stop in front of her. "Need some help?" It was Chris again. "Yes." She said sheepishly. She already felt so stupid in front of this stranger who had come to her rescue twice already in one day. "It's alright." He whistled loudly, hailing a cab, which came immediately. Katie made a mental note to herself to learn to whistle like that. "Thank you very much." She said appreciatively. "No problem at all." He opened the door for her as she got in. "Good bye." He said through the rolled down window. "Bye." She waved at him. "Where to miss?" The cab driver asked as he got in after putting her bag in the trunk. "To the Hilton Hotel please."

She stared at the wooden door, nervous as hell. She took in a deep breath then rang the little bell at the side of the door. "Coming." A voice called out. She shook her leg with anticipation. The door swung open and she could tell that she was the last person he had expected to see at the door of his hotel room. "Happy Valentines Day?" She said, suddenly not so sure if she had made the right decision in coming after all. "God, I missed you." Josh pulled her into his arms for a hug. "When did you get here? Why didn't you call?" He blurted out. "I wanted to surprise you." "What if I wasn't here? What if-" "Shh." She silenced him with a kiss. "What does it matter now. We're together now." "I can't believe you're actually here." He spun her around in his arms. "Neither can I." She smiled happily. It had taken a lot of begging and cajoling to convince Kevin to give her two days off.

"God, let me look at you. You've gotten more beautiful already." He held her from afar and stared at her. "Stop with the compliments and invite me in." She blushed. At that moment all the stress and horrors of the day had been forgotten entirely. "Sorry." He grabbed her bag from the floor and led her into the hotel suite. She stood in awe at the beautiful room. "Wow." "I know." He carried the bag into the bedroom, next to the closet. "We couldn't believe it too in the beginning." "Where is that boy?" She asked, referring to James. "He's in his room, down the hall, but you didn't come here to see him…did ya?" He came from behind and hugged her.

"No. You're right." She turned around, looking him in the eyes. "I came here to see…" She ran her finger down his chest. "The Empire State building, the statue of liberty…" She teased him. "Oh, I didn't think that you were into the whole tourist thing." "Well you thought wrong. I love exploring new territories." She said suggestively, her hand traveling lower towards the prominent bulge. "I waited too fucking long to be a gentleman anymore." He easily scooped her up in his arms as she shouted at him to put her down, in between the laughing. "I've waited so long to hold you, to kiss you." He laid her onto the large bed, hovering above her. "Every night, my dreams have been about you." "And mine of you." She pulled him down to bring his lips to hers.

"Oh shit!" James cried out in surprise. "Fuck! You scared the living shit out of me!" He shouted, his hand over his thumping heart. Katie and Josh broke out into hysterical laughter. After catching up with each other in the room, they decided to go knock on James' door to see if he wanted to go get some dinner. They knew he would be surprised, but nothing prepared them for this reaction.

"What are you doing here?" He asked the obvious question. "Aren't you supposed to be in Wilmington right about now?" "I just thought I'd drop by to see how my boys were doing." She pinched his cheek, still laughing. "Next time call first." He said, still in the state of shock. "And take all the fun out of scaring the shit out of you? Nah." She chuckled, linking her arm through Josh's. "Alright. We're sorry. Dinner's on me." Josh offered a truce. "I'm no cheap date." James shook his head, not ready to forgive his friends yet. "How about drinks too?" "Now how can I refuse that. Just let me get my jacket." He disappeared into the room then came back with it in his hand. "Next time, dinner and drinks won't get you off the hook."

"You need to get laid." Josh commented and Katie smacked his arm, trying real hard not to giggle. James wasn't the only person who needed to get laid.
