"I'm sorry." She whispered against his mouth. "Cut." The director shouted out. "You're supposed to back away, Katie." Katie opened her eyes slowly and realized what she had said to him. She backpedaled a little too quickly and nearly tripped over own feet. "Careful." Josh called out, his hand catching her arm. "Thank you." She said gratefully once she was sure that she had both her feet planted firmly on the ground. "No. Thank you." He whispered, pulling her into his arms and planting a soft kiss on her head. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That was five hours ago. Now she was sitting in the make up trailer having her make up removed for she was done for the day. She had said her sorry, but she still felt frustrated. Something didn't feel right. She felt sick to her stomach. Maybe it was the chicken she ate for lunch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Katie made her way to the lot and brought out her car keys. She was tired and she couldn't wait to go home and relax. Maybe read a book or just listen to music. Maybe she'll just call Megan, her best friend back in Ohio. "Hey." James called out from the sound stage. "Going home already?" She nodded and yawned, motioning to him that she was tired. "Can you give me a ride back? Josh and Scott have gone to a bar and silly me didn't bring a car today." He asked.

"Sure. I'll be waiting in the car then." She unlocked her vehicle and climbed in. She rested her head against the headrest and closed her eyes when James suddenly got into the passenger seat. "Aren't you going to take off the make up first?" She asked him. "Nah." He said lightly. "You know, you will get pimples if you don't clean that gook of your face." She warned, starting the car. "Pimples dimples, who cares." He said.

"So I'll see you tomorrow then." James said to Katie as he stepped off the elevator. "What time do you have to be there by?" She asked, keeping her finger on the open button. "Seven in the morning. What about you?" He asked. "Five." She groaned. "Good luck. I think that Josh has to be there around that time too, but I don't know how on earth he'll make it since he's gone drinking tonight." James shook his head, tsking his roommate. Katie laughed. "I'll see you tomorrow then. Bye." She released the button, letting the elevator door close.

"Katie." He startled her, reaching his hand out to stop the door before it closed. "Do you like Josh?" His question startled her even more. She fumbled around for words to say, but was at a loss. He gave her a smile, showing her that she could be honest with him and that he already knew the answer to the question. "This will probably sound so stupid and lame since I haven't known him that long and we haven't even gone out on one date, but-" She said this as she played with a loose thread on her shirt.

"But…" He trailed off, wanting her to finish the sentence. "I do like him." She whispered. Her eyes grew wide as she listened to herself say those words, finally understanding why her pulse quickened whenever she was around Josh or why her face turned green with jealousy when another female looked or talked to him. "I just thought that you needed to hear that." James said with a smile, retrieving his hand and the door closed. James smiled to himself, glad that he had helped a friend…two friends. He reached into his pocket, took out the house key and unlocked the door. He hadn't even stepped his foot in when he came face to face with Josh, who stood there with his eyes wide and his mouth open. James drew in a sharp breath, wondering how much he had heard of his conversation with Katie. "I forgot the book I promised to lend Scott." Josh stuttered out, explaining why he was standing in front of the door and not at the bar. "How much did you hear?" James asked his roommate, figuring that a direct approach was better. "Hear what?" Josh said quickly, feigning innocence. "Well, I've got to go now." With that he took off, running down the stairs, not even bothering to wait for the elevator. James shook his head and closed the door. His friend was a bad liar. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Now what?" She groaned and threw her hands up as Josh avoided her for the hundredth time today. She couldn't for the life of her figure out what she did wrong this time. She watched the back of his head, wishing she had the heart to throw the can of diet Pepsi she was holding in her hand at him. She watched him walk to his trailer and disappear. She crushed the can in her hand with anger and threw it into the bin as she walked towards the trailer. She was going to show him a thing or two. She wasn't going to accept this kind of behavior especially when she didn't do anything to vex him. She banged her fist against the door of his trailer on purpose so that he would know how angry she was. The swung open and he looked nervous. She pushed past him. At this point she didn't care whether she was polite or not.

"Alrighty then…" Josh said, closing his trailer door. She paced around, trying to put all the emotions she was feeling into sentences. "What did I do this time?" She asked him, the tone coming out more hurt than she intended. "Katie, I'm not mad." He brushed by her. "Then why are you avoiding me like I've got the plague?" She pressed further. "Why haven't you said a word to me today? Why haven't you-" She trailed off, swallowing a lump in her throat. She couldn't bring herself to ask him why he hadn't laid a finger on her the whole day.

"It's not you." He said gently, the back of his hand tracing the contours of her cheek. "It's not me, but it's you?" She asked in a pained voice. She had heard this line one too many times in movies and she knew how they ended. She pushed his hand away, tears gathering in her eyes. "This is too hard." She said softly. "What is?" He asked, genuinely confused this time. "This." She whispered, gently brushing her lips with his.
