Short summary: *** this fanfic is a Josh and Katie romance that tells the story of the relationship Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes behind the scenes of Dawson's Creek.***

Katie parked her car on the lot and hummed to herself as she made her way to her trailer. "Oh my God! I know. The man is just gorgeous." A blonde girl giggled from afar. Katie gave a quick glance at the extra and smiled. She remembered a time when she used to get giddy over a movie star. It was hard to believe that she was going to be one soon.

"Have you seen his long fingers?" Another one whispered to her friends. They didn't seem to notice that Katie was eavesdropping, although she'd prefer not to call it that, but just observing. "He brushed past me and I nearly orgasmed right then and there." The blonde girl said, fanning herself. Katie's eyes grew wide and she realized that she should move on. This was someone else's private life and she didn't need to listen to this. "He touched you?" One of them shrieked out loud, causing the rest to shush her. "Oh my God, Joshua Jackson touched you!" "You are so lucky. I hate you." Someone else cried out in an envious voice. Katie pursed her lips tight and shook her head, trying hard not to think. He just brushed past her, nothing more, she chanted to herself. It wasn't working. "Hey." Josh appeared, flashing his million-dollar smile. "Hey yourself." She snapped and stomped to her trailer, leaving him confused. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Just my luck." Katie grumbled under her breath. Normally she hardly had many scenes with Josh, in fact most of the time she didn't. However, today, of all days, Joey was going to crash a party with Pacey. Josh had tried to talk to her after their little conversation in the morning, but she tried her best to avoid him. She didn't even know why she was upset. It wasn't like he was her boyfriend or anything. She didn't even like him romantically. She was definitely being ridiculous.

"Background and action." Michael Fields, the director of this episode hollered. She stood by herself, holding a cup, which was supposed to be alcohol, trying to look drunk. Josh strolled up to her and took the cup away from her. Her face automatically turned into a scowl. "Not that I care, but you may want to pace yourself with this stuff." He said in a humorous way. She glared at him and the director called for a cut. "Katie, it says here that Joey tries to lean against Pacey." He said, pointing to the script.

"But why would she if she loathes the guy?" She questioned stubbornly. She didn't want to lean against Josh, not at this moment anyway. "Trust me, after all that Joey's been drinking, she's very loving right now." The director winked, signaling everyone for another shot. Katie took her position again and stood with the cup, waiting for Josh to pluck it out of her hand.

"Not that I care, but you may want to pace yourself with this stuff." He said once again. She leaned against him and slurred, "Pacey, I know I don't say it enough but you're a really terrific friend." He pushed her away hesitantly and said, "Ah, ok, thanks, yeah." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The director cued for the blonde extra to walk in, holding out another cup for Katie. "Is this guy bothering you, Chloe?" He asked in a supposedly suave manner. "Okay, just a couple of things. First, her name is not Chloe, it's Joey and second, no, I'm not hitting on her. I'm just her friend." Josh took the second drink from her. "God knows."

"Well, thanks for the info. We'll catch you later." The extra said as he held on to Katie's hand. "Come on, let's take a little walk." This time he said to it her. "Alright." She answered in a bubbly way and the two walked away. "Cut." The director shouted out. 'Perfect! Perfect! Thank you all very much. Ten minute break and we shoot the scene nine." Katie quickly walked away, not wanting to have to face Josh yet.

"Katie! Wait!" He called out to her, jogging towards her. She froze. She couldn't just walk away now. It would look too obvious that she was angry with him, although he probably thought that anyway. "Hmm?" She turned around and asked with a fake smile plastered on her face. "Hey, I tried to-" He said, cut off as the male extra who had been in the scene interrupted then. "Ummm…I can go." The extra mumbled, too shy to ask for an autograph. "It's alright." Katie smiled brightly as she took the little sheet of paper he held tightly in his hand. "Why don't we head over there and I'll sign it for you." She said in a flirtatious voice, leading him towards an empty spot on the beach. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Alright. The break is over so please take your places." Michael, the director, said in a stern voice. Katie and the male extra were standing on the beach once more. Truth was, she just signed the autograph and walked away quickly. It was all for show in front of Josh and she didn't even know why she had engaged in such a childish act. She saw Josh and James from the corner of her eyes, whispering to each other. She hoped they weren't talking about her.

"We're rolling and action." Michael cried out for the umpteenth time today. Katie and the blonde guy were hugging and holding each other and he was trying to kiss her. "Are you trying?" Katie asked him. "Shh, come on." He shushed her, trying to get his lips connected to hers. "Are we dancing?" This time she tried to sound confused. "We are doing whatever you want to do, sweetheart." He wrapped his arms around her tighter this time. Josh came over to them. "Alright, Jo. Say good-bye to the nice serial rapist man." He took her arm off the guy. "You again a-hole! She doesn't want to leave." The extra said in an angry tone. "Come on, please leave, Pacey." She said to him, maybe a little too realistically. Josh grabbed the extra away from her roughly. "Alright, cowboy. Party's over." The extra held his hand into a ball of fist and tried to hit him, but Josh's knuckle rammed into his face first, knocking him onto the ground.

"Ow!" The blonde cried out, rubbing his shin. "That really hurt. Shit!" Everyone stood confused, not sure if the extra was ad-libbing or was really hurting. "Oh God, I'm so fucking sorry man." Josh quickly reacted as soon as he realized what he had done. Katie stood with her hand over her mouth, not so sure what to do or say. He hit him. He actually hit him. There was no doubt because she heard his fist connect to the poor guy's face and the sound was not pretty at all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Katie entered the craft service trailer, looking for her favorite snack. She was tired and exhausted. The extra was nice enough to forgive Josh, but he wanted to get paid double. She stomped her foot angrily as she couldn't find the bag of jellybeans. "Can't find any?" She looked up and saw Josh, standing there. He must've come in while she was throwing a tantrum because she didn't hear him. "No" She sighed. "That's okay." She walked past him, in the small, confided space, dying to get out of the trailer.

"Wait." He held on to her arm, refusing to let go. She had to turn around and face him. This was it. "What?" She asked in an exasperated voice. Maybe that was a mistake because his face expression got dark all of a sudden. "Fine." He let go of her arm and stalked out, leaving Katie alone and miserable.
