Nikolas & Gia #5 November
12, 2001 - March 26, 2002 Bobbie, Luke, Laura, Nikolas, Gia and Scotty go to the
police station to give their statements. Helena walks in with handcuffs
on and Luke taunts her and tells her that Stavros fell into the
bottomless pit at the lab. Helena is shocked. Taggert pulls Gia aside
and asks her why she is still with Nikolas. Gia informs her brother that
she is happy with Nik. She then, to prove her point, handcuffs herself
to Nik. Tag laughs at his sister and tells her that he doesn’t know
where the keys are for that set of cuffs. Nik tells Stephan that he
doesn’t want to be part of the Cassadine family and that he never
wants to become like his father. Stephan tells Nik about Kristina and he
agrees to go meet her. Stephan, Nik and Gia show up. Stephan has a good
laugh at Alexis’ outfit. Alexis tells him that Kristina wants to
loosen her up and that he is next. Kristina is introduced to Nik and
Gia. Gia tells Nik that Kristina, unlike the rest of the Cassidines, is
happy and fun. Just then Tag shows up with the keys to the handcuffs and
uncuffs Nik and Gia. He then tells Nik that they need to have a chat
about him dating his little sister. PARTY! Everyone is celebrating,
thanking each other for taking care of everyone. Jax mentions flying to
Monaco to celebrate. Stefan says Jax should sell back all the Cassidine
businesses he bought out from under Helena’s nose. Jax suggests they
play a game of cards, each draws a card and the highest card gets the
companies. To make it more worth Jax’s while, they throw in Windermere
should he win. Stefan gets the highest card, after some trickery from
Jax. Alexis calls him on it and thanks him yet again. Nikolas & Gia
leave to go to the other party. At Laura’s house, Lucky & Nikolas
celebrate as brothers, they discuss Elizabeth and how she helped Lucky
break the mind control. Nikolas & Gia leave to spend some time alone
together. Laura is going over the upcoming ads featuring Gia, when she
comes upon the suggested ad for June (bride and groom). She comments
that it looks so real and that it reminds her of how she felt the day
she married Luke.
Nikolas and Gia were so happy together and enjoying one
another. They had just finished making love when Taggert and Florence
stormed into their private moment. Taggert was loud and demanding that
Nikolas take his hand off his sister and that they get up. Then Florence
interjected with Gia pack your things we are living now. Nikolas, being
the prince and so suave, asked them to allow them time to put on their
clothes and then he would explain everything. Once they had their
clothes on, Gia questioned Nikolas about what he was going to tell her
mother. Nikolas avoided answering the question and just said that he
would wing it. Gia was frustrated but was willing to give Nikolas the
chance. Florence and Taggert re-entered the yacht and asked for the 25
words. Nikolas started to count on his fingers. Taggert said he was
playing them. Nikolas said no actually I could answer in 18 words. I
love and respect your daughter and I intend to propose marriage to her.
Do I have your blessing? Florence and Taggert were caught off guard, but
Florence immediately asked about the ring. Nikolas even surprised Gia by
pulling out this gorgeous emerald and diamond engagement ring. Florence
was speechless and Taggert was mad. He told Nikolas that was the
smoothest line he had ever heard. Gia told them that they both needed to
leave now. Florence says the blessing will have to wait, but she leaves
content for now. After they were gone Gia did not know how to respond to
Nikolas, she was not sure if he was real or putting on one heck of a
great act for her family. Nikolas let her ponder for a while, but then
explains how he just bought the ring and that he did intend to propose
and in fact, does propose to her! He put on the ring and they embraced.
Gia is going to be a princess! Nikolas and Gia go to Kelly’s to wake
up Lucky and Gia very subtly (not!) flashes her rock. NO it did not put
him in a trance! Anyway, he suggests they elope- but Gia starts rattling
off plans for a royal wedding much to Nikolas’ apparent discomfort.
Thanksgiving at Wyndemere, Nik and Gia tell announced
their engagement, Stefan looks less than thrilled. Stefan comes around
and apologizes to Gia for his past behavior, and acknowledges how she
has stood by Nik. He wishes them the best. Nikolas appears troubled
after Stefan speaks badly of Stavros., and Nikolas slips away, leaving
Gia with the Cassidines, to visit Helena in prison. At the jail, Helena
wonders why Nikolas is there, is he there to gloat, she wonders? She
recaps Luke's and Stefan's visit and is not happy to have her grandson
there to mock her as well. Nikolas says he isn't there to gloat, but
rather, wants to know about his father. He blames her for his second
death, how dare she bring him back and make him take part in her revenge
plans when Stavros really just wanted to get to know his son. Helena
tells Nikolas a part of Stavros will always be alive in him, he cannot
deny his father's legacy, he has a destiny to fulfill. He is a
Cassidine, not a Spencer. Lucky & Gia show up then and tells Nik not
to believe a word she says. Gia shares some choice words with Helena and
then his friends escort him out of there. Nikolas says goodbye to his
grandmother. She says she loves him and he is welcome back anytime. He
makes it sound as if he will never see her again, but somehow one
doesn't believe him.
At the brownstone, Gia tells Lucky that she doesn't know
where Nik went and she is worried. Lucky has a pretty good idea where
Nik headed to and he will take her. Lucky and Gia arrives at Helena's
jail cell and drags him away from Granny. They tell him that he is free
from the Cassidines, Granny tells him that he never will be. Nikolas has
a nightmare concerning his dad Stavros. He said, "I had so much to
ask my father". "What was he like?" Gia tried to explain
that he was rather charming but deceptive too. She did tell him that she
had felt sad for him when Stavros said " I am afraid that I am
going to lose the most important thing to me". Gia added "I
think he was speaking of you." He asks Gia, "Am I like my
father?" Gia tells Stefan that she is deeply concerned about Nik.
Stephan tells her that he has reared a strong Nikolas so he will get
through this. Then, He gives Gia the proposed menu for their engagement
party. Nikolas, lost in thought, throws something in the water on the
waterfront. He says, in essence, "I am finished with you,
dad". A hand rises from the water to clutch the side of the
riverbank.
In the maze, Nikolas is taken aback when an arm reaches
out of the (bottomless) pit Stavros fell into. As he peers down, he
encounters Luke, who glibly says, "Are you going to help me? Or
where you expecting someone else?" Nik is hostile at first but Luke
offers some useful advice to help him deal with the nagging question of
his identity. Among others there are things like "You are what you
do" and "Crime does pay" "The best things in life
aren't free" and Luke's personal favorite "Love isn't blind,
it sees everything. In the end the choices you make you have to live
with." After helping to permanently seal the trap door, Nik
surprises Luke by asking him to go for a beer with him! Luke accepts and
tells Nik he will meet him at Jake's. Nik seems grateful and grins,
surprised that he has had fun with Luke!
Gia gets upset when she sees the way Kristina is dressed
for the engagement party. Stephan fixes the problem when he presents
Kristina with a gown that was her mothers. Taggert shows up at the party
with a sinister message from Helena. Kristina gets upset and leaves the
party and heads right to Helena. She tells a shocked Helena who she is.
Stefan lifts a toast to Nik and Gia as the party gets underway. Later,
Jax and Ned pleasantly offer a surprised Stefan their gratitude for all
he did to keep Kristina & Alexis safe. Taggart also offers a toast
to the happy couple and even welcomes Nik into the family. Laura shows
up alone. She thanks Stefan for being a "real father". Later,
Laura welcomes Gia into the family and thanks her for making her son so
happy. Gia introduces Nik to some of her modeling friends and they act
all giggly and brain dead. Stefan makes an announcement, he welcomes
Kristina formally to the Cassadine clan and then drops the bomb that
henceforth and forthwith. Prince Nikolas Stavros Dimetrivich Cassadine
will take over all the holdings of the vast Cassadine Empire – yowza.
Nik looks stunned, but hey, maybe with all that moolah the guy can get a
decent haircut! Gia notes Nikolas’ unease and isn’t sure what the
big deal is. Gia’s looking for her betrothed. Finds him in the library
looking at old snapshots. She asks why this money thing is
“weirding” him out and he pulls out the books, points to the bottom
line and says “this is why”. Gia’s eyes bug out, it’s a load of
$$. Lucky objects to Nikolas taking over the Cassidine estate. Then he
tells his brother that whatever he decides, he will stick by him.
Stephan comes in and Nikolas signs the papers making him the Cassidine
leader. Gia amuses herself by brushing up on her royal etiquette while
an indulgent Nikolas looks on. Gia laughs as she reads all the
appropriate means of address for a royal princess. She particularly
loves, "Her Stellar Highness". Stefan apprises Gia of his
discussion with Laura, specifically getting her to release Gia from her
contract as the face of Deception. Nikolas is not happy with his
Uncle’s high-handedness, and Gia is disturbed as well. Why can’t she
continue modeling and be a princess? Stefan gives her the cold, hard
facts about how her life is about to change, and that hawking perfume
and cosmetics don’t fit the profile of a princess. He tells her that
she will soon be expected to meet heads of state and royalty alike, and
will be one of the most photographed women in the world. To that end he
opened accounts at all the major fashion houses. This gives Gia pause,
our girl ‘fesses up and says that she might have to clear up a few
credit accounts first. Not to worry, says Stefan, it’s all been taken
care of. Lucky points out the benefits of staying with Deception and
encourages her not to give up on her career. His words don't mean much
though after she opens an invite to Buckingham Palace! But after Lucky
leaves, she sadly looks at one of her modeling shots. Nik enters and
tells her to take her time making this decision, that she doesn't have
to give up her job. She tells him that she has decided to give up
modeling. He worries that she is feeling pressured to do this. She hugs
him as she reassures him that she is getting more than she is giving up.
On the docks, a worried Lucky meets with Nikolas and
tells him he doesn’t think he loves Elizabeth anymore. Nikolas tells
him to give it time, they just went through a major ordeal. Lucky says
he remembers what it used to be like but it isn’t like that anymore.
He doesn’t think Elizabeth is his true love anymore, she’s just his
first girlfriend. Nikolas blames himself for allowing his grandmother to
take away Lucky’s love for Elizabeth, but Lucky says it’s not his
fault. Nikolas firmly believes Lucky just needs time to get things back.
Later we see Jax and Alexis, along with Melissa, Roy, Sonny, Carly,
Michael, Nik, Gia, Ned and Kristina lighting candles in memoriam of
those whose lives were taken on 9/11. A music montage of PCers to Silent
Night.
At Kelly’s Diner, Lucky & Liz come downstairs,
hand in hand. Nikolas & Gia are there having breakfast. Hellos and
hugs are shared. The gang sits down and Gia starts talking about wedding
plans. Courtney shows up and sits at the bar, orders a cup of coffee.
Gia goes up to the bar to get her cup of coffee, sets down a twenty and
Courtney takes off with it. The gang stops her and offers to help her
and ends up giving her the money to buy copper wire to fix her car. Back
at the table, Nikolas & Lucky discuss Lucky’s lack of love for
Liz. He promises to give her the life she dreamed of, even if he
doesn’t love her . When the foursome starts talking about Gia’s
wedding plans again, Liz suggests they elope. Suddenly, Liz suggests
that Lucky & her are the couple that should elope--on New Year’s
Eve! Liz brings up the idea that her and Lucky should get married at
midnight on New Years Eve. Lucky is all for it as a concerned Nik looks
on. Liz tells the group that she wants to get married at the Baptist
church where her and Lucky pledged their love for each other. Lucky then
suggests using Laura's house. Liz loves the idea and Lucky leaves the
table to call Laura to tell her. Nik follows him and asks him to call
off the wedding. Lucky says that he owes Liz a wedding and that if he
doesn't give her one then that means Helena won. Liz asks Gia to be her
maid of honor since Emily won't be able to come. Gia and Liz go over to
Nik and Lucky and Liz comments that maybe Lucky doesn't want to get
married. Lucky reassures her but Gia knows something else is going on.
Though Nikolas assures her he's happy for his brother and Elizabeth, Gia
realizes that Nik has some serious doubts. Nik finally admits that
Lucky’s feelings for Liz are NOT the same as before. Gia thinks Liz
should know and appears ready to tell when Liz and Lucky show up.
Gia fusses around Liz helping her prepare for her big
day. She’s preoccupied with thoughts of how to best break Liz’s
heart, while at the same time, Nik is telling Lucky all about the
fantasy honeymoon that is his wedding present to the couple. He’s also
fighting a losing battle trying to convince Lucky to at least put off
his impending wedding. Lucky rattles on about Liz’s “lock” on his
love, saying she deserves this happiness after everything they’ve been
through. Downstairs, Luke and Laura flirt, unaware of the drama
unfolding all around them. Others start to arrive and barge in on Liz.
Audrey, Laura, Bobbie and Gia provide her with her old, new, borrowed
and blue mementos, but the old superstition isn’t going to help this
wedding. Liz is going on to Gia about how she misjudged her and her love
for Nikolas and basically thanks her for everything she’s done to help
get Lucky and she to this point. Gia’s so uncomfortable she can’t
stand it. She blurts out to Liz that she shouldn’t get married –
Lucky’s love for her never returned! Liz is stunned. Liz is not at all
happy with Gia’s news. She denies that it is possible and accuses Gia
of playing a joke on her or straight up lying or trying to ruin her day.
Whatever the reason, she refuses to believe it and continues with her
wedding. Audrey, Laura and Bobbie come in and offer some last minute
marriage advice. Down the aisle comes Lulu, Gia, Audrey, then bride. Liz
gives her vows and they are amazing. Lucky gives his. Mid-vow, just as
Lucky is saying his love for her is stronger than ever and that no one
can ever change that, Liz realizes that Lucky has indeed stopped loving
her. She says she can see it in his eyes. She runs upstairs. Everyone is
shocked, except for Nikolas. He is mad and gives Gia a hard look
realizing she has said something to Liz. Nikolas tells the guests the
bride- and groom-to-be probably need some privacy. Everyone goes out to
watch the fireworks. Nikolas tracks Gia down and forces her outside. He
demands to know if she told Elizabeth what he told her. Nikolas &
Gia argue. Nik is upset with Gia for spilling the beans to Liz, and lets
her know it. Though Nikolas angrily accuses her of ruining his brother's
wedding, Gia insists she won't apologize for giving Elizabeth a piece of
crucial information about her future.
A dejected Lucky is lying on the couch with what appears
to be a “dear Lucky” letter from Liz in his hand when Gia knocks on
the door. He lets her in and starts railing about how Elizabeth is gone
and it’s all Gia’s fault. Nikolas comes in and says Lucky should
blame him; he shouldn’t have told Gia. “People in love should be
able to tell each other everything” Gia helpfully interjects. Lucky
yells at both of them, pointing out that it was HIS decision to go
through with the wedding. Nikolas wiped out my love for Elizabeth in the
first place, he adds. Nik says he was trying to prove himself to Helena.
Is that an apology or an excuse? Lucky wants to know. Gia says Elizabeth
will be back. How am I supposed to get back what you two took away?
Lucky screams and runs upstairs. Gia tells Nik it’s not his fault. She
makes him promise that he’ll tell her if he ever falls out of love
with her. Nik wants to fix things with Lucky before he leaves, but Gia
convinces him to wait until they can help when Lucky and Liz need them
in the future. They leave.
Lucky comes to Helena's jail cell, he grabs her in a
chokehold. As he tightens his grip on Helena's scrawny neck, Lucky
orders his former tormentor to restore his feelings for Elizabeth. Nik
arrives and persuades Lucky to release her. After Lucky leaves, Helena
loses no time in pushing her irritated grandson's most vulnerable
buttons. She also gives him a good scare; by vividly predicting his
future. Lucky’s taking out some of his aggression playing half court.
Nikolas arrives on the scene and joins the game. Nikolas tries to talk
to Lucky about how rough he was with Helena previously but Lucky doesn't
want to hear it. Nikolas tries to get Lucky to see that even though his
love for Elizabeth is gone, he still has strong feelings for her and
that maybe their relationship isn't over. Lucky gets progressively
violent during the scrimmage knocking Nik into the wall (was that a
foul?) and eventually slamming him to the ground. Nik’s trying to be
understanding, but Lucky effectively silences him with the question, “
how would you like me to smash your head into the pavement until your
love for Gia leaks out of your ears?” Nikolas just laughs and Lucky
leaves.
Aboard Nikolas’ yacht, Gia walks in on Nikolas on the
phone and hears him being rude and demanding. She wants to know what
happened to him, why he was being like that. She suggests he is too
stressed out, worrying about too much like Lucky and the running of the
whole estate. Nikolas lets her in on what Helena said…that he will
enjoy being able to use the Cassidine name to get whatever he wants. He
is afraid this has already happened. Gia assures him he is not like his
father. They express their love for each other and set up plans to go to
Paris. Stefan calls a family meeting at Wyndemere. He tells them all
that he is leaving town to pursue a childhood dream. Kristina asks him
to stay because she wants to get to know him better. Alexis reassures
her sister that Stefan doesn't break family ties. Gia protests too and
Nikolas tries to stop her. She is worried about Wyndemere and Stefan
tells her that Wyndemere is now hers and she can do what she wants with
it. Gia tells him that he doesn't understand. Nikolas says that Gia is
worried that he won't be there for their wedding. Stefan tells them both
that he will come back for it. Stefan takes Kris and Alexis and gives
them each a gift and words of advice. Nikolas tells Gia that he wants
Stefan to leave. Stefan didn't have a life because he was busy raising
Nikolas. Gia finally understands and watches at Stefan and Nikolas as an
emotional farewell. Nik continues to worry about Lucky and Liz, but Gia
distracts him with some creative romancing. Gia locks herself and Nik in
a room together and playfully persuades Nikolas to put aside his
business and concerns and concentrate solely on her for a while.
On the Cassidine yacht, Lucky sees Nikolas in action as
lead Cassidine and is amused. Where is the brother he knows?! Lucky now
seems to be fine with Nikolas. while talking, Nikolas finds a letter
written to him from his dad. He starts to read it, but Lucky grabs it
out of his hand and throws it into the fire. Nik is angry and upset that
Lucky burned the letter from Stavros. Lucky can't believe Nik is falling
for Stavros' claims of love. Lucky points out Stavros’ faults
including that he tried to seduce Gia knowing she was Nik’s girl. Nik
tries to explain that Stavros saved his life and told him that he loved
him. Lucky says he understands why Nik wants to believe, but insists
that it doesn’t erase all the horrible things that Stavros did. Lucky
assures Nik that he's only trying to protect him from more pain. Nik
retreats emotionally, claiming too much work, despite Lucky’s reminder
that he agreed to spend the evening with Liz and him. Laura arrives and
interrupts her son’s disagreement. Lucky is concerned to learn that
Luke did not return with Laura. Lucky leaves as he is already running
late for his date with Liz. Laura asks Nik what's really going on. Nik
explains about Liz and Lucky trying again. Laura is not fooled and wants
to know why he and Lucky were arguing. Nik dismisses it as a minor
disagreement over fashion. Laura tells Nik she knows about Stefan’s
move to Milan. Laura tries (not-too-subtlety) to get Nik to see that he
does not have to follow in the tradition of taking over the estate. She
even goes as far as suggesting Stefan would return-if Nik will call him.
Nik asks Laura if she thinks he is not capable if running the estate.
No, says Laura, she only made the suggestion so that Nik and Gia would
have a chance to enjoy each other before he takes on the overwhelming
duties. Nik tells his mother that he will not ASK Stefan to give up his
freedom, after every thing his uncle has already done for him. He
assures Laura the pressures of prince-hood will not drag him down, then
invites her to dinner to prove it. But, before they can leave Laura
overhears Nik on the phone. He is being such a hard-nosed businessman,
that she is taken aback by how much he reminds her of Stavros.
At Elizabeth’s apartment, Gia shows up while Elizabeth
is frantically trying to find something to wear on her date. Gia is glad
to find out that Liz is no longer mad at her and is surprised to find
out that Liz’s date is with Lucky. She thinks Liz might be making a
mistake. Liz tells her she doesn’t want to hear it, she thinks it is a
good idea to try to start over and recapture what they had. Gia helps
her get ready for the date. She actually braids Liz’s hair in a style
similar to her own! Lucky finds Gia in Liz’s room when he arrives and
tells her he is worried about Nik. He goes on to explain about the
letter and Nik's reaction to his burning it. Lucky is surprised when Gia
comes down on Nik's side by saying Nik had a right to keep the letter.
Lucky tells her he is sure the letter wasn’t from Stavros, but another
trick courtesy of Helena. Gia tells Lucky that she got to know Stavros
enough to believe that a small part of him really cared for his son. She
goes on to explain that Nik lives in fear of turning in to his father,
and is constantly guarding against it. Lucky warns her that Nik will
follow in the Cassadine tradition of evil, as long he is in control of
the estate. Gia assures Lucky that Nik wants only to do good with his
money.
Gia arrives in the hallway outside Nikolas’ study at
Wyndemere in time to eavesdrop on his conversation with his mother.
Nikolas tells Laura that Stavros is more real to him now than when he
was alive. He asks her if she sees his father when she looks at him.
Laura says there’s a physical resemblance, yes, but on the inside they
are completely different. Nikolas lets her know he found a letter from
Stavros, written on the day he was born, full of love and hope. How can
a man who loves like that do what he did? Nikolas wants to know. Laura
has no easy answer but she asks if he’s talked to Gia about this. As
his love’s ears perk up out in the hall, Nikolas says no, he doesn’t
want to, because Gia wouldn’t understand. Gia chooses to enter the
room but acts surprised to find Laura there and says she hopes she
wasn’t interrupting anything. Laura asks if she’s sure she won’t
sign on for a second year with Deception. Gia says she will finish out
her contract with the company, but then she wants her marriage to be her
top priority. Laura says she understands and leaves. As Nikolas settles
behind his desk again, Gia asks if there’s anything he wants to talk
about. Not at all, Nikolas replies. Gia thinks that Nik thinks of her as
a distraction. Nik reassures her that it's not true. Gia asks Nik to
play the word association game with her. Nik grows bored with it and Gia
decides they need a night out on the town. They go to the Grille and Nik
finds out that Gia was eavesdropping when he was talking to his mother.
Gia tries to act like it's not a big deal but Nik thinks it is. A
frustrated Gia gets up to go to the ladies room. Lucky spots Nik sitting
by himself. He approaches his brother and apologizes for his behavior at
Wyndemere. Nik accepts the apology. The two start to make small talk
when someone comes up to the table and says "The two best looking
guys in the universe sitting at the same table. How can a girl get so
lucky?" The two turn around to see Sarah Webber standing there.
They both jump out and hug her.
Gia walks into the ladies room bad mouthing men. She
sees Liz in there, doing the same thing. The two discuss their latest
downfalls with the men in their lives. They leave the ladies room
together and see Sarah sitting with Nik and Lucky. Gia asks who she is
and Liz (looking a tad bit disgusted) says that it's her sister Sarah.
Gia & Liz make their way back to their men, where Sarah is telling
of her adventures in Greece. Upon seeing Liz, Sarah jumps up and hugs
her. She starts in about how sorry she is to have missed the wedding and
how great Lucky & Liz look so marriage must be agreeing with them.
She realizes she has said something wrong, but Gia lies about the reason
why there was no marriage and, after a short catch-up session, she drags
Liz back into the bathroom. Gia asks why Liz doesn’t seem to like
Sarah. Liz just explains that Sarah is perfect and that everyone loves
Sarah. She can’t compete. She lets it slip that Nikolas and Sarah had
been an item, something Gia doesn’t want to hear. Back at the table,
Sarah asks the boys what is going on. Lucky admits it was his fault
about the wedding. Nikolas steps in and says it was his fault. Sarah
wants Liz to tell her what happened at the wedding. They decide to go to
Audrey’s and spend the whole night talking, catching up. In the limo
on the way home, Gia asks Nikolas how serious he was with Sarah. He
admits she was the first girl he ever loved, something every fiancé
wants to hear about the new girl in town. He explains their history and
she is a little annoyed. She begs to know how he feels about things; she
doesn’t like being shut out.
Gia tracks Nik down at the stables, where he has just
finished an early morning ride. After Nik extols the virtues of
horseback riding. Gia invites him to ‘make the world fall away’ for
both of them as she opens her coat to reveal she is only wearing skimpy
lingerie underneath. Later, they cuddle in the hay and talk about
Stavros. Gia points out that it is natural for someone to wonder about
their parents-Nik wouldn’t be normal if he didn’t feel some
connection to his father. The moment is spoiled when she suddenly
remembers she is late for something. At the Grille, Lucky wonders where
his model is. Gia finally arrives for her last photo session and Lucky
playfully comments they don't have time to discuss HOW she got hay in
her hair. After Lucky calls a wrap to the session, he asks Gia if
she’ll miss modeling. Gia tells Lucky she has no real regrets about
giving up her career. Lucky then leads Gia into the dining room. Gia is
brought to a standstill by the scene she sees. The threesome (Nik, Liz
and Sarah) is sitting together laughing their collective head-off. More
to the point-Nik is sitting next to Sarah with his arm on the back of
her chair. In the bar, Nik meets with a banker who comments on Nik’s
physical resemblance to his father. Later on during the meeting the man
comments that going by business savvy Nik is very much like his father.
The comments obviously disturb Nik since they provoke thoughts about his
father and doubts about himself. When the meeting is over, Nik sees the
Webber sisters (still giggling). He approaches them and asks to hear the
story behind the laughter.
Nikolas pulls Gia aside and tries to reassure his
green-eyed fiancée that he loves HER and is NOT interested in Sarah
Webber. After some more small talk and a few catty remarks from Gia
directed at Sarah, the five-some agree to a group outing with Nik making
the arrangements. Gia and Liz leave together. Nik has business at GH,
which leaves Sarah and Lucky alone together, much to Gia’s dismay. Liz
and Gia leave. The next scenes go back and forth several times between
the two vehicles, Gia comments to passenger Liz that she can’t believe
Liz didn’t notice how Sarah was flirting with Nik. Courtney drives
while wiping tears from her eyes. Liz defends her sister saying she
wasn’t flirting she was just being herself-nice. Courtney continues to
drive while wiping tears from her face. Liz tells Gia Sarah isn’t man
crazy, men just like her. Too which Gia retorts that in case Liz
hadn’t noticed BOTH Nik and Lucky ARE men. Courtney drives and wipes
and turns on the radio. The song playing is “Every breath you take”
by the police. Liz comments that Sarah is like a beautiful Mother
Theresa and turns on the radio (same song). Gia wants to turn the dial
because the song is “too retro”. Liz says “leave it, I love this
song”. Gia turns toward Liz telling her now naïve she is. Liz yells
out that the light is red, Courtney sees the headlight come straight at
her. Gia shouts, steps on the brakes, turns the wheel, Courtney turns
the wheel, sound of squealing tires, looks of horror on everyone’s
face, loud CRASH sounds, blank screen.
Gia, Elizabeth and Courtney all lay motionless,
seemingly unconscious. Courtney wakes up first and is able to crawl out
her window. She seems fine. She heads to the other car and finds Gia's
cell phone to call for help. Sonny's goons show up and take the phone
away from her. They say Sonny wouldn't want the police involved. As they
lead her away against her will, Taggert shows up and wonders what is
going on. He calls for ambulances and then realizes Gia is behind the
other wheel. As soon as he touches her, she miraculously comes to. He
automatically assumes Courtney ran a red light and even though Gia
remembers it was her fault, she lets her brother keep on thinking that.
Courtney comes over to see how Gia is and Gia starts yelling at her. The
ambulances take all the girls to GH.
In the ER, Gia finds out that Elizabeth's condition is
serious and that she is suffering from internal bleeding. Taggert
demands a blood alcohol test for Courtney. Sonny walks in and demands
Taggert take his hands off his sister. Elizabeth is in a critical state
with a ruptured lung. Nicholas arrives while Courtney is being given the
full steam ahead by Marcus. Courtney's drug alcohol test is negative,
but she was going to leave the scene of the accident with Sonny's thugs
so she is taken in to the station. Gia knows that she was drinking
before she and Liz left the PC Restaurant, but Nicholas asks her to
remain quiet. A tearful Gia tells Nicholas again that she was indeed
responsible for this accident. She says" I had drunk champagne and
an Irish coffee. I didn't even see that stop light."
Nik and Gia are in her hospital room when a nurse shows
up and says that the police has ordered a BA test from Gia. Nik lies and
said she already had one and the nurse believes him (how stupid). Gia
worries that they will find out that Nik and lied and will come back and
do the test. Nik hopes that by that time the alcohol in Gia's blood will
be gone. He then says not to worry about Courtney because Alexis and
Sonny will find a way to get the charges dropped against her. Later,
when Nik is gone, Gia's mom shows up. Gia tells her mom the truth and
that she is scared that Taggert nor Nik will save her from going to
prison. Gia's mom is a little upset that Nik lied and then left her
daughter alone.
Nik goes to the accident site to see the cars. A little
old lady and her dog comes up and she asks Nik if the people in the
crash are alright. She goes on to tell him that the young model was the
one that ran the red light. She goes into the PD and says she saw Court
run the stoplight. But before Tag can do anymore, the new cop comes in
and says Mac wants Court charges with running a red light and Mike for
not having insurance and that Court can leave. Nik is seen in a room
with the old lady. He gives her an envelope with some money and says
that her new condo in Palm Beach is ready and that she will never have
to worry about another Port Charles winter again. The lady tells Nik
that he is a sweet man.
In his quest to cover up the real cause of the accident,
Nik visits the PC Grill, finds the waiter who served them the champagne
and offers him a job as head waiter in a resort he owns which is out of
the country. Conveniently enough the man must take the job and leave
within three hours. Gia is relieved to learn from Sarah that Liz is out
of surgery and will apparently recover from her injuries. Sarah is
surprised that Gia and Liz are that close. After looking through the
chart Sarah comments that Gia’s blood work is missing the police
ordered-customary after an accident-BA test. Gia comments that she
didn’t really drink anything. Though Sarah seems to recall Gia having
a glass of champagne during dinner, Nik firmly insists that HE drank
almost all of Gia’s drink. Later, Nik tells Gia that he has taken care
of all the loose ends. The waiter is out of the country; the witness has
been paid off to point the finger at Courtney. Gia protests that she
doesn’t want to cause trouble for the girl. Nik assures her that Sonny
will see to it that Courtney is protected, so Gia gives in. Gia picks
this time to tell Nik that Elizabeth knows the truth and will tell it as
soon as she regains consciousness. Nikolas went to see Liz and find out
what she remembered about the accident. She didn't say much before Lucky
came back and told Nikolas off for bringing up the accident. While they
were arguing, Taggert went to see Elizabeth to get a statement from her.
Tag starts to question Liz about the accident as Nik looks on. When Liz
starts to remember stuff, Nik comes in and asks Tag to leave the room
because he is upsetting Liz. Lucky follows suit and agrees with his
brother. Tag tells the two to leave the room so he can finish his
questioning. As Nik and Lucky are leaving, Gia comes in and demands that
she get to stay so she can lend Liz support. Tag takes his sister out to
the hallway and tells her and Nik and Lucky that they need to stop
trying to stop him and that he will get his questioning done. Just then,
Bobbie comes up and tells Tag he is needed in the chapel asap. Gia asks
Lucky to take her to the accident site so she can get something out of
her car.
In his continuing efforts to keep the world from finding
out that Gia ran a red light, Nik lets it slip to Elizabeth that Gia is
having nightmares about the accident in which she hears Liz yell to look
out for the other car running the light. He also tells her there’s an
eye witness who saw Courtney go through the red light and hit them.
Elizabeth says she doesn’t remember it that way; she recalls yelling
something about the traffic light. The other car’s headlights would
have been right in your eyes, Nik prompts. Out in the hall, a nervous
Gia cuts Taggert off at the pass as he tries to return to questioning
Elizabeth. Taggert lets his sister know that he has some suspicions
about her story. He points out that a lie will hurt her for the rest of
her life and begs her to come straight with him. Gia acts offended and
yells that she didn’t run the red light. In her room, Elizabeth says
she thinks she’s beginning to remember something. Taggert comes in to
take her statement and she admits she can’t remember what color the
light was. She did yell something to Gia just before the crash, though.
One of Sonny’s goons delivers a note from him, offering help. Nik and
Gia say that sounds like a man who knows his sister is guilty. Elizabeth
says Sonny has always been good to her. She tells Taggert she is
prepared to swear in a court of law that Courtney ran the red light. A
relieved Nik and Gia say their goodbyes to Elizabeth and prepare to go
home to celebrate Valentine’s Day. An uneasy Taggert watches them
leave.
Elton introduces Gia to a bevy of her adoring fans and
is greeted by oohs, aahs, cheers and applause. Playing host, Elton asks
the Princess-to-be how it feels to have all your dreams come
true-complete with a rich, handsome Prince. It’s wonderful she says,
but before she can tell her adoring public what she will do next,
Taggart and Courtney break through the crowd and announce that GIA ran
the red light, put Liz in the hospital and framed Courtney. Taggart
declares that they have proof and tells Gia she is under arrest. Gia
takes Nik aside and asks him to help her. Nik warns her that there is
only one way, but once done there will be NO going back. Gia (not even
asking what he means)tells Nik to do it. Nik takes the microphone from
Elton and starts a speech about how Gia has been targeted by Courtney
and Taggart. Halfway through the speech Nik’s voice changes, Gia looks
over and finds herself staring at STAVROS. Nik/Stavros goes on to assure
the crowd that Taggart and Courtney will be arrested for their crime and
he and Gia will go on to live the life they deserve. Elton takes the mic
back and asks Gia how she feels now that her Prince has saved her. Gia,
with a look over at Nik (who is now back to himself) tells everyone (in
a less than sure voice) that she is the most fortunate woman alive.
Gia rants at someone over the phone about her missing
vehicle. Nik calms her and presents her with the keys to her NEW RED BMW
Convertible. He suggests a trip to the Big Apple to enjoy shopping, the
nightlife and other amenities the city offers. Gia has a moment of
conscience and wonders what it cost Nik to save her. She also expresses
concern over the possibilities of Courtney doing time and Liz
remembering the truth and exposing her. Nik takes her mind off the
subject by engaging her in some hanky panky. Later, Stavros appears to
Nik in a dream. Stavros tells Nik that now that he has taken the first
step into the dark side and had a taste of the power it will be easier
to give in to his destiny being a Cassadine. Later still, when Gia goes
to dress Nik recalls the words Stavros said in his dream. Suddenly Sarah
is there and she wants to know what is up. Just as Sarah is confronting
Nikolas about Gia’s missing blood alcohol test, Gia comes in, all
excited about her new BMW. Sarah’s not too happy and tells the
lovebirds that the head of interns at GH is upset about possible
liability for the hospital and won’t let the missing test drop. Sarah
points out that Gia did drink a glass of champagne before the accident
and asks if she lied about running the red light, too. Nikolas tries to
calm her down, saying he realizes she’s upset because of Elizabeth. He
says it was just an accident and they should all move on. Suddenly calm,
Sarah apologizes and she and Gia walk out together. Alone in his study,
Nikolas again hears Stavros’ voice telling him about the seductive
nature of power. Alexis walks in, and when Nikolas turns around to face
her, she briefly sees Stavros in his place. She asks what’s wrong,
commenting he looks “haunted.” Nikolas tells her Sarah was just
there, bringing up bad memories of the accident for Gia. Alexis says
he’s had to handle a lot after the accident and since his uncle left.
She wants to know how he is since Stefan is gone. She warns him not to
be consumed by all things Cassadine. She knows what a profound effect
his father had on him and she thinks he’s convinced he’ll turn into
Stavros. Nikolas yells at her to never say that again. Gia comes in and
wants to know what Alexis said to get him so upset. Nikolas ushers her
out quickly, saying he needs a moment to apologize to his aunt. As soon
as they’re alone, he confesses to Alexis that he’s petrified; he
doesn’t want to be like his father. Nikolas admits to Alexis that he
is afraid of the power he has. She asks what he means. He tries to
change the subject to Sonny, but that only leads to a discussion of the
car accident and Alexis surmises Nikolas may have used that power he is
afraid of to hide the truth. Nikolas is annoyed at her insinuations.
Alexis points out that if he did cover up for Gia, then he is becoming
his father. Nikolas admits that he dreamt of Stavros. Alexis says the
dream is just due to all the stress he’s under. Kristina arrives and
wants the name of a good real estate agent. Nikolas is happy that they
are moving and offers use of Windermere. It’s big enough for the whole
Cassidine clan. Kristina is thrilled, but Alexis says the move is not
certain, as far as she is concerned. After Alexis leaves, Kristina kicks
herself for saying the wrong thing yet again.
Over at the hospital Nik teases Gia about how much she
enjoys her new car. However, they are both aware that Sarah (who is
watching them can blow their story by telling how much Gia drank the
night of the accident. After Gia goes to see Liz, Nik approaches Sarah
who says she doesn’t have time to talk she is late for a lecture. Nik
again tries to say that Gia only had a sip of champagne and some how the
conversation ends up with Sarah as the baddie. Nik tells her she has no
right to just show up after several years away with barely and e-mail
and act like she knows what is best for everyone. Sarah defends her
actions and says she will not let Liz be hurt by ANYBODY’s lies. As
she walks away, she runs into Dr. Caldwell, who reprimands her for
missing the lecture, then punishes her by ordering to observe a
procedure on her day off. Now as Dr. Caldwell walks away, Nik catches
his attention. Nik tells Dr. Caldwell that it was too bad he didn’t
get the job as chief resident-but Nik has his eye on him and thinks Dr.
Caldwell can still get ahead. Nik tells Dr. Caldwell that his experience
could greatly benefit the interns-if he would just give them a guiding
hand. Nik specifically mentions that Dr. Webber (Sarah) is a personal
friend and the hospital is lucky to have her. Dr. Caldwell leaves and
Helena applauds Nik’s power play. She tells Nik that she sees Stavros
in him. Nik questions his grandmother’s presence in at GH. Helena
explains that apparently the months in jail have taken a toll and she
may need surgery (for what she doesn’t say-maybe they will need to
surgically remove her from the hideous orange jumpsuit). Taggart appears
and after a couple of more taunts from Helena, she is escort away by her
guard. Nik tells Taggs he doesn’t want Helena back at GH, but Taggart
says GH & PCPD have a contract. Nik offers to pay whatever amount is
necessary, but Taggart says there is nothing he can do. Taggart then
warns that money can’t fix everything, sometimes it only causes more
problems. He also warns Nik that he doesn’t want Gia to end up like
the other women who where involved with Cassadine men. Namely Katherine
(Bell) and Chloe. Before leaving Taggart express the hope that Nik is
more like his mother, than his father.
In Liz’s room, Gia gives Liz a new pretty peach color
robe to wear when she gets home. Lucky enters and announces that he has
put a deposit on a loft and Liz can come home with him instead of to her
room at Kelly’s. Liz protest that they are not ready to live together,
but Lucky does his best to convince her that it would work. Sarah enters
and tells Lucky no need; Liz has already agreed to move back to
Audrey’s house with her. She and Lucky step out into the hall where
they have the same discussion that she and Nik did. Meanwhile inside Gia
goes on about her new car, but realizes that Liz is not listening. Gia
hears that the radio is playing the same song as the night of the crash,
apologizes to Liz for babbling and turns off the radio. Lucky and Sarah
return in time to hear Liz say the song is bringing back the accident
and turn the radio back on. Nik appears in the door way just in time to
hear that the song is clearing Liz’s memory of that night, so he
barges and turns off the radio saying Liz should be resting, not pushing
herself to remember. However, Liz turns the radio back on insisting it
is helping. Nik and Gia watch, unable to do anything else without
drawing unwanted attention, but the moment is gone and Liz can’t
remember anything new. Gia fills Nik in on the battle to get Liz
“home” , then Nik suggests that they ALL move into Wyndemere (even
Audrey). The place is big enough for everyone, plus then Liz can go home
with both Sarah and Lucky (But we all know there is more to it then
that). Everyone agrees, but Gia does not look pleased with the turn of
events. Dr. Caldwell appears in the doorway and asks to speak to Sarah
in the hall. Sarah, expecting another set down, is stunned when the Dr.
not only apologizes to her for his previous behavior, but is actually
nice to her. When she re-enters the room, she realizes Nik may have had
a hand in the Doctor’s new attitude.
Nikolas and Gia showed up to visit Liz at GH. Liz told
them that Sarah was coming with her to live at Wyndemere. Nikolas said
great, that was what he wanted. Gia wasn't looking too thrilled with the
idea, though. Nikolas and Gia welcome Liz and Sarah to Wyndmere with
open arms. Nik has had the sisters' rooms redecorated so they don't look
so dark and gloomy. He offers Liz a gift that includes a cd player, cds
and art supplies so she will free more at home. Later, as Nik is showing
Sarah her new room, she questions him again about the accident. Gia gets
upset when Lucky and Liz tease her about giving up her modeling career
to marry her prince. Gia becomes defensive about leaving her job as the
Face of Deception when Lucky mentions that his mother is once again
conducting a big model search for the Face of Deception. Sarah accuses
Nikolas of trying to keep her quiet about her suspicions about the car
accident because she suspects Nikolas of being behind Dr. Caldwell's
sudden interest in bending over backward to be nice to her. But Nikolas
insists that he just thought it was unfair that Dr. Caldwell seemed
jealous when Sarah seemed to know more about treating Liz's injuries
than he did - and that Nikolas does not mind pleading guilty to having
stepped in to try to do a good turn for his friend Elizabeth's sister.
Sarah, however, tells Nikolas that she believes that Nikolas has asked
them all to move in at Wyndemere so that Lucky would provide a
distraction for Elizabeth to prevent Elizabeth from remembering too many
of the details of the accident. 'Do you remember when Lucky used to call
you the dark prince?' she asks. 'Are you finally living up to the
title?' Sarah reassures Nikolas that, for the time being, she will NOT
make waves unless it looks like Elizabeth is going to get hurt. Nikolas
informs Gia that Sarah is a friend with a wrong opinion about the
accident and Nikolas insists to Gia that he will do whatever it takes to
keep her safe. Nikolas , Gia, Lucky and Liz discover that Sarah has
gotten accidentally locked in one of the tunnels and release her.
Sonny shows up at Wyndemere to talk to Liz about the
accident. Sonny manages to see Liz despite Nik’s protest that Liz
needs to rest and put the accident behind her. Sonny becomes more
determined to see Liz after Gia joins in and tell him that talking about
the accident only distresses Liz. Once Sonny gets a chance to speak with
Liz she assures him that she is doing very well, might take him up on
his offer to return to his casino island-soon, doesn’t need anything
as her family and friends are catering to her every need and doesn’t
hold a grudge against his sister. After Sonny leaves Gia says she
doesn’t like him cause he is dangerous, Liz defends the mobster saying
he has always been good to her even before the accident. Lucky agrees
that Sonny is a decent person-as long as you don’t cross him. Nik and
Gia dance attendance on Liz and Sarah comments to Lucky that she thinks
it’s strange that the engaged couple is so attentive to her sister,
but she stops short of telling Lucky her doubts about the accident.
Later, Gia confesses (to Nik) that she is worried that Sonny doesn’t
believe them and is afraid he will find out they lied. Nik assures her
that even though Sonny is a force to be reckoned with on the Eastern
seaboard, his own influence extends worldwide. If it came down to it, he
would have the resources to stop Sonny and promises Gia he will do
WHATEVER it takes to keep her safe.
Sonny tells Alexis that he knows Gia lied about Courtney
running the red light and has figured out Nik is throwing money around
trying to hide it. He tells Alexis how much Nik and Gia protested his
visit with Liz, how they told him 15 times that Liz just wants ‘to put
the accident behind’, that he believes Liz’s statement to the police
is not based on memory but the lies Nik and Gia have fed her. He is
shocked when Alexis admits that she had already figured it out. When he
demands to know why she didn’t tell him, she informs him that HER
family is as important to her as HIS is to him. She also tells him that
if he tries to go after Nik, they will find themselves on opposite
sides. Sonny appears to understand, since he goes on to berate himself
for letting Courtney down when she needed him. Alexis assures him he
made a ‘human’ mistake-like everyone does, but Sonny wonders how he
will make it up to his sister.
The hottest club to hit Port Charles in a long time
opened its doors tonight. Club 101 is the creation of Carly Corinthos,
ex-wife of alleged mob boss Sonny Corinthos. Ms. Corinthos, wearing an
elegant black dress with spaghetti straps, was on hand to greet guests
as they entered the club. Anyone who is anyone in this town made an
appearance at the opening. The entrance of Prince Nikolas Cassadine and
his fiancée, former Face of Deception Gia Campbell (in a stunning
purple dress), could hardly go unnoticed. A reporter interviewing Nik,
asks if didn't Gia used to be somebody? She swears the question doesn't
bother her but when a model is being introduced by the same reporter as
the possible new Face of Deception, Gia interrupts and literally pushes
the girl out of the way and makes a surprise announcement that she has
decided to remain Deception’s model! Gia chooses to drink sparkling
water instead of champagne because she's afraid of what people will say.
Sonny approaches Gia (and Nik) and mentions that he talked to Courtney
and assured his sister that he believed that she didn't run the red
light. Gia asks if Sonny is implying that she lied about the accident.
Sonny claims he only wants the truth and Nik suggests that Sonny just
forget about it. When Sonny leaves Nik and Gia alone, a worried Gia is
ready to tell the truth but Nik won't hear of it. Taggert asks if
everything is okay and they assure him that there is no problem. Nik
cautions Gia not to tell THEIR secret to anyone. Everything comes to an
abrupt standstill when AJ and Courtney appear at the door together.
Susan Diol plays the role of Alexis today, while Nancy
Lee Grahn is off with pneumonia. Ned, Kristina, Skye, Jax, Carly,
Nikolas, Gia, etc. all watch AJ with Courtney. Alexis tries to keep
Sonny from doing something drastic. Sonny starts seeing blurry. Gia
tries to butter up Courtney. Taggert overhears Courtney telling Gia that
it was Gia that ran the red light and framed her. Gia & Nikolas give
Taggert the run around, but Taggert's still suspicious. Nikolas &
Gia arrive home after the club opening and Nikolas is livid over
Sonny’s treatment of Gia. He says he can deal with Sonny and makes
some phone calls to check out Sonny’s money trails. Gia thinks he is
going too far. Nikolas explains that this is a lot more serious than
just a traffic accident and he will not let anyone hurt her and he will
not be crossed by anyone. Lucky walks in and wonders what is going on.
Gia leaves and Lucky gives his warning to Nikolas about turning into his
father. Lucky asks Nikolas if he set it up to protect Gia, but Nikolas
won’t admit anything to his brother. He insists he didn’t do
anything to help Gia, and that she didn’t need help. He also thanks
Lucky for pointing out he sounds like his father. Nikolas brings up
Lucky’s treatment of Elizabeth and points out that they both are
acting similarly, trying to protect people they love. Gia bursts in on
Elizabeth and wakes her up. She starts chatting about the party and the
great time Elizabeth missed. She tells her how Sonny cornered her and
even asks Elizabeth’s help to ask Sonny to get off her case. As she is
rambling on, Elizabeth remembers that the light was red. Once she
remembers, she volunteers to call Sonny to tell him that she remembers,
but Gia cuts her off and goes right back to talking about the club and
how she is the Face of Deception still. Elizabeth falls back asleep.
Nikolas falls asleep and has a nightmare that he is on trial. Stavros is
a judge and beckons to Nikolas to follow him and his ways to keep Gia.
Nikolas wakes up in a sweat.
At GH, Luke thinks Helena is faking her illness in an
attempt to escape. Nikolas visits his grandmother, who insists on
speaking with him alone despite warnings from Gia, Lucky and Mac. Once
alone with him she utters a cryptic message and instructs him to puzzle
out its meaning. Mac gets called away, as Helena is being wheeled into
the elevator to be taken to surgery. Before leaving he gives Luke one
final warning to stay away from her and tells the officers to arrest
Luke if they even see him on the same floor. Typically, as soon as Mac
departs, Luke and Roy split up and head for the surgical floor. Luke
arrives first and sees the gurney outside of the OR; he gives Helena a
typical Luke greeting, but is stunned when the woman looks up and tells
him there has been a mistake. It’s NOT Helena.
Nikolas promises Alan that he is not going to interfere
with the running of the hospital. Left alone, Nikolas tries to figure
out the clue Helena had given him. As he gets mad at himself, Lucky
bursts in with the news that Helena has disappeared. Mac questions if
Nikolas had anything to do with Helena’s disappearance. Nikolas gets
angry at the insinuation.
At the Deception offices, Laura receives a visit from
Gia. Laura asks if Gia is really planning on coming back as the Face of
Deception. Gia wonders if that is okay? Of course, it is. They bond,
dissing the other models and talking about Laura’s wedding plans. Luke
runs into the Deception offices frantically. He makes sure Laura and
Lulu are okay. Laura is crazy with worry, “What happened?” she wants
to know. Nikolas calls, looking for Gia. Laura still does not know what
is going on. Finally, Luke tells her that Helena got away.
At the Cassidine stables, Gia is dressed for her
horseback riding lesson, looking for Nikolas in the stable. As she gets
the equipment, who should sneak up behind her but Helena!?! Lucky stops
Nikolas from spilling the beans to Liz about Helena being on the lam.
Nik says it would be better coming from him then having her hear about
it elsewhere. Lucky swears to protect Liz at all costs while Nik warns
him of giving Liz the impression that he’s in love with her again.
Small price to pay for her safety, a grim Lucky informs the prince.
Lucky tries to distract Liz with talk of an exotic getaway for the two
of them, and Liz is a little leery of his sudden sense of spontaneity.
Don’t even think about ratting me out to your brother – warns
Helena. If you do, I’ll just mention that Darling Nikky aided and
abetted my escape. Gia’s not sure what to say (which is a shame, since
some of her best dialogue is opposite Helena) and hearing her beloved
prince charming nearing the stables, she quickly stuffs granny behind
some hay. Nik asks her why she didn’t respond and Gia tries to cover
by saying she didn’t want to spook the horse. He tells her that
Helena’s on the loose and that he’s worried that the cops first stop
will be Spoon Island. He sticks his other foot in his mouth as he
details his arrangements covering up her responsibility in the accident.
Helena laps up every word. Later, Gia uses the excuse of grooming Sheba
to hang around in the barn (what’s with this sudden horse love?) cue
Helena who promises to disappear forever if Gia will give her the cheese
to do it. Nik tells Lucky that Helena hasn’t been seen and Liz
realizes what’s going on when Sister Sarah barges in and tells her –
meanwhile Lucky narrowly misses La Helena at the stables.
Gia tells Lucky that Helena is not in the stables. Lucky
says he will kill Helena with his bare hands to protect Elizabeth.
Helena, hiding behind some bales of straw, starts at that revelation and
bumps a bridle hanging next to her. The noise causes Lucky to start
searching the stall. Gia screams and tells Lucky she saw a huge rat. She
convinces him to take her back to the house. Luke tries to convince Mac
to alert the press about Helena’s escape, but Mac says he doesn’t
have the manpower to handle all the false leads that would generate.
Nikolas arrives and asks to speak to Luke privately. The go to the
hospital roof, where Nikolas relates the riddle Helena told him: “When
is the sun like the dark of the moon and never brought to the light?”
They figure Nik is the son (sun) and Stavros the dark of the moon. Luke
suggests Nik check to see when the next eclipse will occur. Nikolas
confesses that he dreamed he was Stavros. Luke says he once dreamed he
was a two-headed centaur. He tells Nik that breaking the rules is not
always a bad thing; you make the rules for your own life. Lucky and Gia
come in and Elizabeth confronts him about Helena. Doesn’t he think she
deserved to know the truth? They need to be honest with each other, she
says then storms out. Gia slips out during the fight. Gia returns to the
stables and looks around for Helena. Suddenly, she hears a loud squeak,
and Helena pops up from behind some straw bales. She congratulates Gia
on her earlier performance about the rat and says she’s as good a liar
as Nikolas. She tells Gia it was careless of her to run the red light;
luckily, she has Nikolas to save her. Helena is so proud of him; he’s
so much like his father. She tells Gia she wants $500,000. Bring the
money to her tonight and she’ll give Gia and Nikolas her blessing for
a happy life. Gia goes back into the mansion and straight to the safe
behind a painting. Nikolas catches her.
After catching Gia trying to open the wall safe, Nik
demands an explanation. Gia thinks fast and claims she wants LOTS of
money to give to Lucky and Liz in case they need to make a fast escape.
Its unclear weather Nik buys her story or not. As he is warning her that
she needs to ask BEFORE she takes, Nik receives a call from his
security. They have spotted someone down by the stables. Despite Gia’s
pleas, Nik insists on investigating himself. However, it is NOT Helena
he finds in a stall, but Luke. Luke explains that someone saw Helena on
the road headed in the direction of Spoon Island. Nik doesn’t think
Helena would show up at Wyndemere; no one there would help her. But Luke
finds evidence that he believes indicates otherwise. After agreeing that
Helena would need LOTS of money, they head up to the house to check the
Cassadine accounts (via computer) for any suspicious transactions.
Meanwhile, Gia checks with her accountant about liquidating her assets
but comes up short, both on time and money. Entering the house via the
tunnels, Helena (still pressing a hand to her abdomen) corners Gia again
and pressures her to find a way to come with up more dough. Gia, hearing
Nik and Luke approaching, tries to hurry Helena back into hiding. She is
slowed down when, with a gasp of pain, Helena clutches her abdomen and
doubles over.
In Nik’s office at Wyndemere, Gia tries to hurry
Helena into hiding, but due to the pain in her abdomen Helena is slow to
move. She does however have enough breath to threaten to implicate Nik,
if Gia doesn’t do something to help her. Out in the hallway, Luke and
Nik’s progress is delayed by Laura’s arrival just long enough for
Gia to help Physco -Granny into the tunnels. By the time the trio enters
the office, it’s empty. After hearing Helena's riddle, Laura agrees
with Luke that Helena is just messing with Nik's head. Lucky has arrived
and his advice to Nik is to forget it. Luke decides a search of the
tunnels is called for. He opens the bookshelf and finds, GIA. 0Nik and
Luke question Gia on why she was in the tunnels. Gia hastily spins a
story about how she heard something and thinking it might be Helena,
decided to investigate, but got lost. Laura commends her for being
brave, Nik doesn’t appear to really believe the story, and Luke
insists on searching the tunnels. When he moves to open the bookshelf,
Gia can’t stop herself from calling out “Wait, Don’t go in
there”. Luke asks why they shouldn’t go into the tunnels and Gia
starts spinning more lies. She says that she already searched and found
nothing. When they doubt she search they whole 5-mile layout of the
caves, Gia admits that maybe her outburst was brought on by residual
fear from being lost in the caves. Laura proposes that they will be OK
if they just work as a FAMILY. Gia, on the verge of tears, suddenly
bursts out again “I’m, sorry, I’m so sorry”. Luke jumps on
Gia’s comment and wants to know what she is sorry for. Gia, stalling
for time, explains saying that she just isn’t a “team” player, ask
anyone. Nik appears concerned by Gia’s nervousness. When Luke tells
Lucky to follow him into the tunnels, it’s Nik who calls out for them
to stop.
Nikolas tries to stop Lucky & Luke from
investigating the tunnels, but is unsuccessful. Gia is upset, obviously
afraid they’ll find Helena, but she tells them it is because she feels
unsafe. Laura is convinced Spoon Island is safe. The Spencer’s leave.
Alone, Nikolas asks Gia about Helena, but Gia denies knowing anything.
Nikolas decides to test her and goes into a room and opens a safe filled
with lots of money and then leaves Gia alone in the room. Of course, Gia
grabs a bag and starts filling it up with cash. Nikolas is annoyed to
find Gia has taken the money. Gia finds Helena at the stable and throws
the money at her and tells her to get lost. Nikolas shows up, finding
his grandmother and tells her it isn’t quite over yet.
After arriving at the stables and confirming his
suspicions, Nik angrily jumps on Gia for appearing to help Helena. He
whips out his phone and is about to call the Police when Helena tells
him the nurse and orderly who helped her will swear that NIK pressured
them to help her. Gia pleads with Nik to give Helena the money and let
her go. Helena adds that she knows Gia ran the light and Nik tampered
with a witness to cover it up. Taggart shows up to check on Gia. Helena
hides in a stall.
