Luke & Laura #2 February-April, 1980: 12 hours on 3 dvds!

DVD #2A Bobbie comes in and wants to know what is going on? He tells her about kissing Laura. He tells Bobbie how angry Laura became and she says that when there is that much anger there has to be some other emotion, and suggests that maybe Laura is falling in love with him.

Later, Laura gets locked in the closet in his office and overhears a conversation between Luke and Frank Smith that leaves no doubt about his illegal activities. Smith sees a shadow under the door, realizes someone is in there, waits outside to see who comes out. After they have left the room, Laura calls out to Luke and he lets her out of the closet. She starts asking Luke questions about what Frank Smith is involved in? She is worried about Luke and tells him that Frank is evil. Laura's fear for Luke shines in her eyes, and Luke begs her not to look at him like that, to just leave.

Laura suggests they have a bond that will never be broken because of the night Roy died. She asks him again to stay away from her, that she will stay away from him. He tells her he will always love her, she turns to go, stops, comes back to him and kisses him softly on the cheek.

Jennifer tells her father that Luke is the only man she is interested in. Laura comes out of Luke's office and reenters the disco; Frank realizes she was the person hiding in Luke's office. Frank and Bill Watson go back to Luke's office. Frank worries Luke when he starts asking questions about Laura. Luke says that this was her last night working at the club.

Smith tells Luke that he wants her back working at the club so they can keep an eye on her or else! Smith wants to make sure she doesn't talk. Luke tells Bobbie about Laura overhearing incriminating information about Frank's business. Luke calls Laura and tells her he is on his way over, its a matter of life and death, hers!

She is very annoyed when he gets there, as Frank called Scotty and asked him to provide legal services for his company. She accuses Luke of suggesting the idea to Frank. He denies it and says that was all Frank's idea. He tells her she is in big trouble and Frank demands that she returns to work within two weeks or else. He tells her they suspect some kind of a sell out; they want her back so they can watch her. He suggests that if she doesn't believe him that she walk over to her kitchen window, she is disturbed to find a thug in the alley looking up at her apartment.

Laura continues to refuse; Luke asks if she wants to see Bobbie killed? He continues to try to convince her that her life is in danger. She doesn't believe him and thinks it's a trick on Luke's part to get her back to working with him. Luke tells her he was supposed to die the night of the assassination, Frank asked Luke to take out the hit on Mitch to prove his loyalty. He tells her that if she doesn't come back to work that they won't believe she hasn't talked about what she overheard. She says she hates him, and Bobbie and his disco and refuses to work for him again. He warns her that if she doesn't return to the disco that he won't be able to protect her from what is going to happen.

Laura admits that sometimes she thinks of Luke in a way that she shouldn't but she does love her husband and wants to try to make her marriage work. He tells her it kills him to hurt her that he would rather die. He tells her that she has two weeks, and they have to convince Scotty without making him suspicious. Laura is being followed 24 hours a day. Luke asks Bobbie for help convincing Scotty that Laura should return to the disco. Bobbie is upset that Scotty is getting involved with Frank Smith's business and she plans on stopping it! He tells her he didn't have anything to do with it. He also warns her that she will help him, that they have two weeks to get Laura back to the disco or else! Bobbie comes by the disco later and tells Luke she will help him convince Scotty.

Bill Watson overhears Luke and Bobbie brainstorming on how to get Laura back to work, he comes in and says that would be best as otherwise she is liable to be found in the park again, this time dead! Bill tells Luke that he is hung up on Laura Baldwin. Bill warns Luke to let go of Laura that she isn't for him; he warns him that Frank has picked out Luke as the man for his daughter, Jennifer. Frank Smith calls Scotty and asks to meet with him and Lee, they are excited about taking Frank on as a possible client.

Bill warns Luke that he isn't going to tell Frank about Luke's feelings for Laura however, he will do whatever he has to do to protect his territory and he feels threatened by Frank hiring Scotty and Lee Baldwin.

Frank stops by Luke's office later to tell him he has made arrangements for Lee and Scotty to handle some of his legitimate business. Luke promises Frank that Laura will come back to work at the disco but it will take time to convince Scotty as he doesn't want Laura working at the disco anymore, and reminds him that Laura was raped while she was working there.

Luke tells Laura that Bobbie is going to try to talk to Scotty about Laura working at the disco again. Laura says no, she doesn't want Bobbie around Scotty. Claudia recognizes that Laura is afraid and asks her about her fear and if it's about the rapist? Laura says she is afraid, the he is back in her life and she is afraid she will be killed! Joanne walks in and overhears her and demands she tell her husband, the authorities that her rapist is threatening her. She says it's not her rapist that is threatening her, Joanne tells her to go to the police! Laura tells her she can't go to the police, and they would never believe her anyway. She says she can't talk about it anymore but if she doesn't cooperate with these people she is afraid she will be killed.

On her way out, Joanne tells Luke that Laura is upset and tells him its something about her rapist, that Laura is very afraid. Luke assures her that she doesn't need to worry that he will take care of it and will talk to Scotty. After Joanne leaves, Luke tells Laura she has to be more careful about what she says that she really shook Joanne up. He warns her she is in enough trouble.

Bobbie meets Scotty for breakfast and tries to convince Scotty that it would be best for Laura to return to work at the club.  He refuses.  Bill comes in and seems happy to see Laura back at the disco. He makes insinuating comments about Laura going to Las Vegas with Luke. He asks her when she is coming back to work? She says she doesn't know as her husband doesn't approve and she has to check with him. He makes another warning about her being careful in the park or she could wind up dead. After Bill leaves, Luke tells Laura that Bill is putting the squeeze on him and threatening that if Luke crosses him he will tell everyone about Luke's feelings for Laura. Laura tells Luke that she now believes him about the organization and the danger. Luke tells her he will die before he allows them to harm her! Bobbie reports that Scotty agreed that Laura can go back to work but not at the disco!

Jennifer goes to see Ruby and pump her for information about Luke. She says she has never met a man who pays so little attention to her and he doesn't make passes at her. She says her father approves of her dating Luke so that isn't an issue. She asks Ruby if Luke is in love with someone else? Laura stays cool when she runs into Frank and Bill at the disco; she reports she still hasn't received her husband's permission.

After they leave, Luke admires how Laura handled that, very smooth. He is impressed. He is so sorry for continuing to mess up her life. He tells her that he knows being near her, having her work at the disco is going to complicate things between them. He promises Laura that he won't touch her again but he has to be able to see her, but tells Laura that he loves her more everyday. Jennifer walks in and overhears this (though they don't see her).

When Frank comments on her lack of a social life and asks what happened to Luke Spencer, she tells her father that Luke is involved with someone else but won't tell him who it is. He tells her that if she wants Luke Spencer that he will do everything possible to make that happen. He suggests to Luke that he take someone with him to Vegas, all expenses paid. Luke reports that he isn't involved with anyone. Frank pushes Luke to take Jennifer as he date to Vegas. He says he knows that if Jennifer ever found out anything about his business that she would support him and not question it.

Frank goes onto say that when Luke is looking for a wife that he should look for someone exactly like Jennifer! Jennifer tells Luke that he doesn't have to take her to Vegas; she doesn't want him to feel obligated after his boss asked him to take her. He assures her that he isn't dating her because of her father. Jennifer tells him she doesn't think that it is a good idea to go to Vegas with Scotty and Laura since Luke is in love with Laura!

She tells Luke she overheard him declaring his love for Laura. She comments on how hard it must be for him to be in love with someone married to someone else. He assures her that is in the past and tells her that her father would not approve of Laura working at the disco if he knew and asks her not to say anything about that especially since it is in the past. She asks him to date her seriously and let her help him get over Laura. Luke grins as he likes this possibility and tells her he would like that.

Frank tells Bill that Jennifer overheard that Frank has feelings for another girl and wants Bill to find out if it is Laura. He says any man who plays around with a married woman is not good for the organization and if that were the case they would have to drop Laura (kinda funny the gangster has morals!).

Laura tells Scotty that she would like to go back to work part-time, he agrees as long as it is not at the disco! Scotty is thrilled about the all expense paid trip for him and Laura to Vegas, he announces to Laura that Luke and Jennifer will also join them. Claudia and Brian show up at the Baldwin's and announce that they have also been invited as friends of the Baldwins. Everyone is very excited about the trip, except Laura who snarkily asks Luke if the guy tailing her is also going to be joining them?

Luke tells Bobbie that he doesn't know how much more pressure Laura can handle from Frank and if she cracks all of their lives are in danger. Frank has Laura's phone tapped, his goon overhears as Laura calls the operator and asks for the number for the FBI! She then dials the phone number for the FBI and but hangs up when they answer. Luke is worried that this puts Laura's life in danger regardless of whether she returns to work at the club.  Luke tells her that her phone might be tapped. He later tells Bobbie that if Laura's phone is tapped that they will probably kill her for trying to contact the FBI regardless of whether she goes back to work at the disco or not.

Bobbie, Luke, and Jeff go back to the Smith residence with Jennifer. While Jennifer is taking Bobbie and Jeff on a tour of the house, Luke stays behind in Frank's office to mix drinks. While alone, he searches Frank's desk and finds an audiotape. He hears Frank's voice in the hall and puts the tape back but unlocks the terrace door.

Later, Jennifer gushes to Frank on her possible future with Luke. She says he actually asked her out this time. She tells her father that she is seriously considering not returning to New York and might be making a home here in Port Charles. Her father is thrilled and said he would give anything to have her nearby. Bobbie knows how dangerous what Luke is up to that night, and she frets to Ruby that Luke's feelings for Laura is liable to get them all killed.

Over at Laura's on this storming night, Laura is spooked by the man who is still watching her. Scotty sees her fear, and he also looks out the window and recognizes the guy out there as one who has been hanging around Laura. Luke sneaks onto the grounds of Frank Smith's home, enters Frank's office through the unlocked door. Frank and Bill enter the office (while Luke hides out of sight); Bill reports that one of the guards saw someone sneaking over the wall. They decide it had to be someone from inside the organization, as they knew enough about the security to not trip the alarm.

Jennifer comes down, a bit nervous with the power out. She talks to her father about Luke, that she has decided she wants him as her husband. She makes her father promise not to try to buy Luke or force him to be her husband. Frank is happy to hear that, and says that Luke has a lot of class despite his Elm Street beginnings and he thinks Luke might be someone that he can welcome into the family as a son, who will one day inherit it all.

After Frank goes up to bed, Jennifer stays behind to listen to some music. Luke surprises her with a kiss and tells her he is the mysterious intruder, that he came back to see her. She wants to know why he came back. He tells her that he was going to look for her bedroom, that they have unfinished business and then leans into kiss her. She laughs and tells him to be careful that it might be a shotgun wedding. Luke lets on that he overheard her conversation with her father about wanting to marry him. Laura is thrilled with this sudden amorous interest on Luke's part.

Luke heads back to Ruby's, he tells them he doesn't know if he was followed but they need to get their stories straight about where he was during the night. They come up with an alibi, that they were altogether taking care of an ill Ruby. Luke tells them he got what he needed at Smith’s.

The next morning, Bill shows up and waits at Ruby's for Luke to arrive. When Luke enters Ruby's, Bill starts questioning Luke on where he was the night before that he wasn't at the disco or his office. Luke tells him Ruby was sick and he spent the night with her, that he just went out to get her some medicine and something to eat. When Bill searches the bag, he finds flu medicine and a Danish. Bill apologizes and says he has to check up on everyone within the organization.

2/22/80 Luke plays the tape for Laura and tries to get through to her how much danger she is in. She finally begins to believe him, and realizes this wasn't a trick to get her to go back to the disco. Luke tells her that if they had thought she would follow through on contacting the FBI that they would have already have made a move on her. Luke tells her he will be with her as much as possible and will do his best to convince Smith that she is no threat to them.

Luke asks her to place her life in his hands and trust him, she says she does. Laura doesn't want to be alone so they go to the disco, he plays "Rise" by mistake and she is furious. She starts to doubt him and thinks perhaps the whole thing is a manipulation on his part.  She decides to go to Lee Baldwin and talk to the FBI, Luke knows this is suicide not just for her but for anyone she talks to. She thinks that Lee is beyond their reach. Luke tells her it isn't just Frank but he has a whole organization behind him. Frank enters the disco to find Luke and Laura together. He asks to speak to Luke about business. Dvd #2B 2/22 continued When they are alone, Frank tells Luke that Jennifer told him their relationship is progressing and he is happy to hear it. He goes onto try to entice Luke with promises of rewards and says he doesn't like to punish people. He brings up Laura. Luke asks if Laura's life is in danger? Frank points out no one is above the organization and he thinks that Laura is a threat to the organization. Luke points out that her family and her in-laws are very well connected and it would be a mistake to go after Laura, it would be very dangerous for Frank.

Luke talks to Laura and tells her she absolutely has to talk to Frank, tell him about her call to the FBI and tell him she is sorry that she was just being hysterical and it was a mistake. Laura refuses and tells Luke she won't do it, instead she will tell Scotty and Lee and she suspects that Frank is getting them involved in criminal activities. Luke tells her that Lee would have checked out Frank before taking him on as a client and that he has credibility and isn't going to want to lose that. Laura tells Luke she will go to Lee and he will be able to do something about this, he will be able to protect her and Luke is not going to be able to change her mind or protect her.

He can't believe that she would do anything this crazy. Laura says she has been living in fear of her life and she won't do it anymore. He tells her to wake up that organized crime is for more powerful than she will ever realize. She insists that they will not control her! He questions does she really think that a temper tantrum from an 18 year old schoolgirl is going to stop the organization? Luke grabs her arm and tells her she is not going to do this that she is living in fantasyland and they will all be dead if she goes through with this. He tells her to go to class and cool down that if she goes through with this that her, Scotty and his influential father will all be dead!

Luke goes straight to Bobbie and tells her that after school, Laura is going straight to Lee's office and tell him everything and then she will go to the FBI. Bobbie can't believe it and says that Laura is the baby of the world!

Laura runs into Frank Smith in the park and takes Luke's advice and apologizes to Mr. Smith. She tells him her imagination got away from her and she did something foolish, and called the FBI but then realized how silly she was being and hung up. She plays it perfectly, ashamed, sheepish, and asks if he can ever forgive her for her overactive imagination especially after he was so kind to arrange the Las Vegas trip for her and Scotty. Smith is thoughtful for a moment, then accepts her apology and tells her there are no hard feelings. He points out the Lee would already have him thoroughly checked out (so he makes it sound like he has nothing to hide), but that a call from a frightened girl would touch off an inconvenient situation and it would be a waste of taxpayer money.

Scotty has gone to the police about the man who has been hanging around outside of their apartment. Scotty is suspicious that this is the guy who raped Laura but she is afraid to tell. They bring Laura in for a lineup though of course she can't identify anyone of them, one of the guys in the lineup is the guy Bill Watson hired to follow her.

Luke tells Bobbie that the man that Bill had watching Laura has a criminal record and has ties to the organization, that Bill screwed up big time by using this guy to follow Laura. He continues that this puts Laura in even more danger; Laura overhears this as she stands outside the door.

Luke tells Laura that he is sorry she had to go down to the police station to look at a line up of men as possible rapists. He tells her that maybe she should just identify him as the rapist. She says no that they would put him in jail. He confides that he knows how Scotty would feel, that every night he imagines her in Scotty's arms and he just wants to go over there and take her away from him. Scotty arrives at that opportune moment and takes Laura home.

Bobbie & Anne at GH, Bobbie & Frank, Brian & Laura, Luke calls Laura, Scotty & Joe

When the man following Laura is pulled in by police, Frank becomes uneasy as this could blow his clean image. Frank puts out a hit on the man, and says Laura is next! The man who has been following Laura is hit by a car, in a hit by Frank and set up to take the fall for Laura’s rape. Location scenes outside of Kelly’s! Joe, Scotty, and Rose run out of Kelly's (first and only time the street outside of Kelly's is shown!) to the man laying in the street.

Luke arranges to see Laura when Scotty isn't home. Laura is fed up with all of the intrigue and is tired of everyone pushing her. She tells Luke that if everyone doesn't leave her alone she will go to the police. She says she is tired of living in fear, he tells her she doesn't know what fear is until she pulls a dumb stunt like that! He tells her she acts like this is some little game that she is tired of playing. She counters that she doesn't believe they go around killing people like Luke imagines.

She says that Luke is trying to scare her into staying at the disco. She demands he let her go; she doesn't want any part of his life! He asks if he should just throw her to the wolves? She says she can take care of herself, he says sure because she has done such a good job so far considering she has almost gotten both of them killed! Scotty calls and tells her that the guy following her was just hit by a car and killed. Luke urges Laura to take advantage of this and declare the dead man is indeed the guy who raped her. This closes the case on the rape, gets Scotty of her back and lets Frank of the hook.

Frank is unhappy as he didn't want to be anywhere near the hit. He asks Bill what was the hit man doing down on the waterfront? Bill reports that he was at Kelly's Bar & Grille (since when is Kelly's a bar?). Frank orders him to find out who was hanging out in Scotty around the time that Johnny was killed, he wants to figure out who Johnny was trying to meet down there.

Scotty & Joe, Rick calls Laura, Monica & Rick stop by to see Laura, Scotty tells Laura about the goon being killed, Luke tells Bobbie.

Scotty goes with Laura to the morgue to ID the dead guy as her rapist. Scotty is relieved that the guy who raped Laura is dead. Luke convinces her to finger the goon as her rapist. Scotty & Laura talk to police.

Frank comes into Luke's office and shows him the newspaper. He tells Luke that he is very grateful to Laura; she didn't identify Johnny as the guy following her on behalf of the mob but as her rapist. After Luke leaves, Bill questions Frank's sudden trust in Laura. He assures Bill that he doesn't trust anyone, even members of his own family (a reference to Luke perhaps?).      Frank expresses his gratitude to Laura; this establishes that she can be trusted.

Laura later asks Luke if she can get out of the Vegas trip. Luke says no way, to look at it as a second honeymoon paid for by Frank. Laura has wised up a bit and tells Luke she knows that the organization doesn't trust her. Luke tells her she did everything they asked her, she went back to work at the disco, she didn't go to the police; she lied about the man following her and took the heat off the organization. Luke promises her that she is in no danger in going to Vegas. Luke tells Laura that she is free of him at last; that he is going to totally concentrate on Jennifer and Laura can concentrate on Scotty. Laura earnestly professes that she does love Scotty. Luke tells her that perhaps he loves her enough to let her go.

Luke tells Bobbie that they have to keep Laura calm and reassure her about the Vegas trip, that if she gets nervous that Frank will smell the fear. He warns Bobbie that if she panics, that Frank might figure out they have been covering for Laura and trying to protect her. Luke tells Bobbie about Jennifer wanting to marry him. Laura knows Luke very well and observes that he is trying to cheer her up and protect her all at the same time. Bobbie warns Laura that her actions have put several people in danger and she advises that Laura to stay away from Luke and to get out of going to Vegas. Laura says there is no way she can get out of going to Vegas as Scotty considers it a second honeymoon.

Smith tells Bill that he has decided to call off the hit on Laura but decides to continue to keep an eye on her. Frank observes that Laura lies very convincingly for an 18-year-old child. Laura shows off the dress she bought for Las Vegas to both Luke and Scotty.

At the disco, Frank invites Scotty and Laura to join him. Scotty gives his regrets, as he has to take Laura down to the police station. Frank looks immediately concerned, Scotty explains that they want to ask her more questions about Johnny Colby. Laura assures Frank that she has nothing else to say to the police. Frank observes that he has learned what a smart, loyal girl she is. Laura tells Luke the police want to question her again. Laura says Frank seems like he is okay with it. Luke warns her that you never know what Frank is thinking and they can't afford for Frank to decide he can't trust Laura.

Frank tells Luke that Jennifer is joining him at the disco. Luke asks if he may join them and hints that he and Jennifer are getting along very well. Frank says he was hoping to make it a party and explains that he invited Laura and Scotty but they couldn't join them due to her impending trip back to the police station. Luke assures Frank that Laura has proved herself, though he knows that Bill doesn't trust her. Laura seems very cool and collected while working.

Jennifer shows Luke her Las Vegas outfits; Laura calls to tell Luke that the police want to talk to her again. He says he will go with her. She tells Luke that they are asking her a lot of questions about her work at the disco, about meeting people that are associated with Frank. He warns her not to tell Frank about this line of questioning, and not to tell anyone else.

At the police station, as Laura waits impatiently she is surprised when Frank exits from his police interview. Frank looks at her with steely eyes. Frank says the police staged for Laura to arrive while Frank is there. Frank is getting suspicious that Laura has leaked information. Frank tells Luke that Johnny worked for him once upon a time in a warehouse on the docks. Luke assures him there is no way that Laura divulged any information.

Luke tells Bobbie about the latest, and tells her that Joe knows about the connection between Johnny and Frank. He wants someone close to Joe and asks her to cozy up to him. She refuses and says that he is involved with Anne. Luke beseeches her (she can never say no to him), and says she can easily break that up. In the next scene, she makes a play for Joe and she is able to get a date with him.

Richard Simmons and the gang, Luke and Jennifer all dance at the disco. Laura asks Luke if Mr. Smith has said anything to Luke about her. He says that he hasn't and that is good news that Frank hasn't contacted him. Later, the gang all goes back to Scott's and Laura's. Richard Simmons sets up quite the feast and plugs his low-cal items.

The next day, Frank questions Luke about Laura's interviews with the police. Luke assures Frank that Laura has been handling it very well. Frank tells Luke that he wants to talk to him about Jennifer; he says that all of Frank's empire can be Luke's one day. He compliments Luke on how well he handles pressure. Perfect timing, as the police officer calls Frank's office and wants to talk to Luke! The police officer tells Luke that someone has come forward and says that Johnny was not the rapist. Since Laura works for Luke, he would like to talk to Luke about Laura.

Down at the PD, the officer points out that Johnny was seen tailing Laura by both Scotty and police officers yet Laura refuses to identify him as following her yet she identifies him as the rapist. The officer continues that Colby's girlfriend says that he was with her the night of the rape and he couldn't possibly be the rapist.

Luke heads to GH and tells Laura the latest info. Luke then updates Frank Smith on Cynthia coming forward. Frank wants to buy off Cynthia; Luke doesn't like that idea, as it will open Frank up to a lifetime of being blackmailed. Luke says that would make Frank too vulnerable. He instead insists that he allow Laura to stick to her story, that it will be Cynthia's word against Laura's. Luke points out how well Laura has held up under the pressure and he assures Frank that Laura can handle this. Frank fumes; Luke tells him that he will not only stake his job on Laura but his very life! Frank points out that if Scotty finds out that Johnny didn't rape Laura that all hell will break loose. Scotty tells Luke that Joe Kelly is on special assignment from the police to find out who killed Johnny.

Luke goes straight to Bobbie and wants to talk to her. She brushes him off and says why does he want to talk to her that he doesn't listen to her anyway! He tells her its about Laura, she wants to know what now? He fills her in on Cynthia coming forward and that if Johnny had told Cynthia about being assigned to follow Laura that information would mean the end of both Cynthia and Laura! Luke questions Bobbie about Joe and what he is up to. She tells Luke that Joe pumped her for information about Luke and his income. She smartly responded that she told Joe that Scotty also works for Frank Smith!

Joe tells Cynthia that a hit was put out on Johnny. He asks her for her help and tell him everything about Johnny's last few weeks of his life. She asks why should she help him? He says so the same thing that happened to Johnny doesn't happen to her! Luke reports to Frank that Joe Kelly is now asking Laura questions about the Colby homicide case and whether she could have identified the wrong man. Frank blames Bill that he has made far too many mistakes lately. He asked Bill to follow up and find out if Johnny was meeting anyone the day he died at Kelly's, obviously Frank suspects that Johnny was meeting with Joe.

Luke is not happy when Frank reports that he is going to transfer Bill to the Vegas club. Luke tells him he can't do that, that Luke can't work with Bill that they will be at each other's throats within a week. Frank insists that he wants Bill out of his sight, Luke worries that Bill will ruin the Vegas club. Frank also instructs Luke to talk to Laura and to make sure she stands firm on Laura sticking to her story about Johnny. He reminds Luke that he once staked his life on Laura sticking to her story, he warns Luke that it may come down to that and tells Luke that this is not a request but an order!

Luke passes on the message to Laura. She says she is tired of lying, that the lies just pile up and keep getting worse. She says she is going to tell Scotty everything in Vegas and she just hopes he loves her enough to stay with her once she tells him everything she has done. She tells him that she is shutting out people she cares about, her parents, her friends, Scotty. Luke warns her that she might loose Scotty. She says even if she looses Scotty that at least she will be able to live with herself.

Luke heads back over to GH and talks to Bobbie. He tells her that he not only put his job on the line but his life on the line and now Laura has decided to tell Scotty the whole truth. Bobbie tells him she has to stop her. Luke says he can't, that Laura is about to snap under the pressure. He says he isn't worried about himself, he is worried about Laura, Bobbie and Aunt Ruby. He tells Bobbie to be prepared to get herself out of town quickly.

Leslie tells Laura that the scandal of Rick sleeping with Monica is about to break due to a court case. Laura tells Luke that she has decided not to go to Las Vegas, she wants to stay in PC with Leslie. She tells him she will be here with her mother and stand by her side. Luke accuses her of using Leslie as an excuse.

Luke goes back to Bobbie and tells him the latest Laura story. Luke tells Bobbie that Smith is going to be very angry about this and will blame Luke, that getting out of this one will be a real test of his relationship with Smith. Luke tells Smith next and puts a good spin on the family obligation angle. Smith says it is fine, he isn't going to force the girl to go on a paid vacation but he is very disappointed in Laura's decision. Luke assures Frank that he and Bobbie will be going to Vegas.

Frank pressures Luke into proposing to Jennifer (he does so to protect Laura after she bails on the Vegas trip). Luke all too eagerly tells Frank that he has been looking for an engagement ring for Jennifer. Frank is happy to hear it and tells Luke he has made a wise decision. Frank talks to Scotty and he tells him about Rick and Leslie separating and that Laura doesn't want to leave her mother at this time.

Stoddard, the police officer, shows up at Frank's office and tells them that Colby's girlfriend is found dead of apparent suicide but the police believe she was murdered. After he leaves, Luke asks if the organization put out a hit on Cynthia? Frank denies it. Luke asks what about Bill? Luke gets snippy with Frank about all of this and is upset over how the police continue to question Laura about Johnny. Frank questions why what happens to Laura is so important to Luke? He is saved from answering when Jennifer waltzes in.

Luke calls Laura and tells her he has to meet with her immediately at the disco. Jennifer overhears Laura and Luke talking, Laura telling Luke that she wants to tell Scotty all about her, about Frank being in the "organization", that Frank expects Luke to propose today. Luke continues that if she tells Scotty everything that they could all wind up like Cynthia, in the morgue! At lunch, Luke proposes and Jennifer is less than thrilled. He snakily asks her if the ring is too small? She asks if he is asking to marry her or her father?
