McKenzie Westmore

Sheridan Crane

McKenzie Westmore plays Sheridan Crane, the stunning daughter of "Passions" patriarch Alistair Crane and his late wife. Sheridan is the spoiled "poor little rich girl" searching for true love. Her brother is Julian Crane, and nephew is Ethan. Ethan is the only other member of her family that Sheridan can connect with and who understands her.

Sheridan had a very troubled childhood, which led to a troubled young adulthood. She's a product of money and sometimes uses that to her advantage, which got her in trouble with the law when she first returned to Harmony. After she fled from Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald when he tried to pull her over for speeding, she was sentenced to community service at the youth center that Luis runs. They enjoy a special kind of animosity reserved for people that are attracted to one another and don't want to admit it. (this paragraph from A Penchant for Passions)

After Sheridan went with Luis to New Mexico their relationship has become more. Luis saved her life in New Mexico when she nearly drowned and again on New Years Eve when he pulled her from the man he thought was his fathers grasp and let the man fall to his death. Sheridan is deeply grateful to him.

When Sheridan was a little girl she woke up from a nap on the living room couch to find a dead body in her living room. Her memories of the incident are understandably vague, but she remembers the body being put in a coffin and she remembers blood all over her hands. Her father instructed her never to speak of the incident, and of course her childish mind distorted the events until she convinced herself that she'd killed someone and Alistair was covering for her. Talk about bad parenting. Alistair then sent her away to a mental hospital in Paris, where she spent years in therapy, trying to work out what happened that night. She grew up to lead a relatively normal life in Paris, but her memory of the night haunted her so much that eventually she returned home.

When Sheridan first decided to leave Paris it was because her boyfriend Jean-Luc had just dumped her. Then he was murdered and his murderers came after Sheridan. After she escaped that danger she set about the business of getting to know her nephew Ethan again. At the same time, she was sentenced to community service and became a permanent fixture in Luis' life. She hangs out with Hank Bennett, Luis' best friend, much to Luis' dismay. Hank has a thing for Sheridan but so far nothing has happened between them.(These two paragraphs also from A Penchant for Passions).

As to her performance in 'Star Trek: Insurrection', I rented it this weekend to see for myself. McKenzie is credited for the role of 'Baku Women'. But as for which Baku women I can`t tell yet. Caroline from 'A Penchant For Passions', says, "When discussing the film in interviews, McKenzie laughs and says to "look for the platinum blonde speck running up the hill" during the scenes of the Baku people running for their lives along with members of the crew of the Enterprise. If you watch carefully, however, you will see McKenzie being helped up by Worf during one scene, and a great shot of her running past Data in a later scene. I had to rewind and do a double-take to make sure it was her because in the film she has very long hair, but it's definitely her!". I will try and find McKenzie for myself. Soon!
