Everything I Do-Chapter 7
Keesha entered the apartment with Michael and found Carly nestled with a blanket in one of the corners of the couch. "Hi, Keesha. Hi Michael," she smiled when she noticed them
Keesha rolled her eyes. "Don’t ‘hi, Keesha’, me. I want details. How did everything go last night?" she asked taking the child to his mother.
Carly shrugged as she reached for Michael. "I only got this," she said giggling as she held up her left hand.
Keesha took her hand and studied the ring. "Wow, this is beautiful. So, he finally did it, huh and with no coaxing from you."
Carly studied her own ring now while she held Michael close to her with the other arm. "Well, it seems that he planned this for a while now. I can’t tell you how happy I am to have this finally happen. We are going to finally be a real family. Although," she started, lower.
"Although what? You can’t doubt your relationship now, Carly. I see how happy the two of you are."
She nodded. "Yeah, we are happy. I’ve never been happier, but Robin’s back in town, and I know that she will do everything she can to destroy that happiness."
"Yeah, I should’ve known that she was going to come back when she heard the news about Brenda. It’s official. Did you see her?"
"She went by to visit Jason before he came over yesterday. Can you believe the nerve of her? After everything she did, why would she even show her face to Jason? She’s an awful person, Keesha. I don’t understand why everyone looks up to her as this great person."
Keesha smiled as she wrapped her reassuringly around Carly’s shoulders. "I know that she is thisclose to being canonized, but don’t let that get to you. I think that Jason knows Robin for what she is, and I don’t think that you have much to worry about on that front."
She shook her head. "I don’t know. But, how did you and Uncle Jax make out with my little man last night?" Keesha smiled. "Wow, do you have it bad. I just mention the man’s name and your eyes glow like the sun."
"What can I say? Your uncle is a very special person. Actually, last night went very well as far as Michael was concerned, anyway. I think that Jax will make a great father one day."
Carly smirked. "One day soon, with the way you two have been behaving. So, what else happened last night? More bad news?"
"I don’t really know if you would consider it really bad news, but it seems that Miranda Jameson is coming back to town. You know who that is right."
"Jax’s ex-wife, right? Wow, talk about your exes coming out of the woodwork. Do you know why she’s coming back?"
She shook her head. "I don’t have the first clue. I’m not going to think about it though. She will not threaten my happiness, and neither will Brenda. I will not allow it. Which is the way you should see Robin. They can’t touch or hurt what we have, Carly. Remember that."
"I’ll try. So, what are your plans for today? Are you going to be going back to the penthouse?" she teased her.
"Carly stop," she laughed. "I really need to be productive today and thinking about him will make sure that doesn’t happen. I have to work on my thesis, and Lucy is supposed to be coming by to make final plans for the wedding."
"I can’t believe that you’re getting married so soon. Don’t you like long, drawn out engagements?"
"I really don’t think that it matters what I really like. I want to be his wife now, and if it were left up to Jax, we would probably elope to Las Vegas or something. I think that he has had enough with the big, fancy weddings, so he is just doing this to humor me. So, the least I can do is speed up the process a little. Besides, I can’t wait to be your aunt."
Carly laughed. "Well, welcome to family. As mixed-up and crazy as it is sometimes, it’s a great place to be."

"You’re meeting with Keesha later, right?" Jax asked the woman on the other end of the phone line.
"Yep, we’re going to make the final plans today. The two of you will be married by the end of the month with no problems or my name isn’t Lucy Jacks," she promised with a laugh.
He smiled. That sounded really good. "Great. Remember, if Keesha looks like she likes it, do it. Don’t listen to any objection on her part. Whatever she wants, she gets regardless of any qualms she may have."
Lucy nodded. "You really know her, don’t you. Okay. What she says, I will make it so. Hey, don’t worry about anything. I’m on the job, and I’ll do it right. I’m trying to convince your mother to come today, too."
"It shouldn’t take too much convincing. She may act as though she doesn’t like these types of things, but be sure that she wants to put her two cents in as well. When Jerry gets in, please have him call me."
"Okay. His meeting shouldn’t take too much longer. Okay. Ta," she said hanging up the phone.
Jax hung up the phone. He really wanted to talk with Jerry about Miranda. Although he told Keesha that he wasn’t going to worry about her, he still was a little wary about her returning to Port Charles now. The timing was too weird to just let pass. The knock at the door broke him out of his thoughts.
"Hello, Jax," the dark-haired woman said with a smile.
Jax smiled and gave her a hug. "I didn’t know that you were back in town, Robin," he said ushering her in the penthouse.
She smiled. This was still a little awkward. She was really glad that her friendship with Jax had not dissipated in spite of the things that happened with her and Carly. "Yeah, under the present circumstances, I thought that it would be wrong for me not to return. It’s hard to believe that Brenda is alive, Jax. I never thought that something this wonderful could ever happen."
He only nodded his head. It was a miracle and it was wonderful that Brenda was alive. He would never say anything against that. "Sit down, Robin," he said softly as he walked over to the couch. They sat in silence. He knew what she wanted to ask him, but he wanted her to ask before he explained.
"I’ve seen her, Jax. She’s a complete wreck. What happened when she came back? She won’t tell me."
Jax smiled. "Well, Brenda came here first when she returned to town. I think that she wanted to surprise me, but I think that she was the one surprised. Keesha was here with me. Actually, she was the first person to see Brenda alive in Port Charles."
Robin nodded. That had to be awful for Brenda. "Yes, I heard somewhere that the two of you were engaged. Congratulations on that."
"Thank you, Robin. But, I really don’t think that was very sincere," he noted leaning back against the sofa.
Robin gave him a small smile and sighed. "Well, under other circumstances, I would be extremely happy for you, for the fact that you found love again. But, Brenda is not dead, Jax. She is the love of your life, and she wants you back. She loves you."
"I know she does. I haven’t really talked to her since that night." He paused. He really didn’t know how to say what he knew that he must. "About being the love of my life, I’m not so sure about that."
"What do you mean? No two people loved each other more than the two of you did."
"Robin, I love Keesha. I’m marrying her, and we are going to be together. There is no chance for Brenda and me to get back together. I never thought that I could love anyone after I lost Brenda, but I have, and I do. I don’t think that you can compare the love I had for her and the love I have for Keesha. I was a different person back then. I’ve grown and changed. There’s no comparison."
She understood exactly what he was saying. That’s the way it was with her and Stone and Jason. She loved them both, but they were very different. She was a girl with Stone, but a woman with Jason. "Actually, I understand exactly what you mean. I just want you to be sure that this is what you want. Jax, if I had the opportunity to have Stone back in my life I would be the happiest person in the world."
He sighed. "This is very different. I have moved on. There is another woman in my life that I would rather spend my life with. I love her, and that is all there is to it."
She nodded. "Okay, I won’t push this any further. Just be sure to think about it."
He laughed and stood up. "Well, I won’t have too long to think about it. When this was returned to me, I didn’t have an idea why. But, then I see you in front of me, I know why. This is an invitation to my wedding. I hope that you will be in attendance."
She took the envelope. She smiled as she opened it. "These are beautiful. Keesha has wonderful taste."
Jax sat back down. "Keesha? I don’t think so. I picked those out," he laughed.
"Well, pardon me, you have wonderful taste. You seem very happy, Jax," she said honestly.
"Well, good, because I am. What about you, Robin, are you happy?"
She shrugged. "I don’t know. I went over to see Jason yesterday. We really didn’t get a chance to talk; he was on his way to have dinner with Carly. He looked happy," she admitted softly. "He looked the way he used to when we first started going out. You know, before everything changed."
Jax reached over and took Robin’s hand. "I believe that you will be happy, too. It’s not that I’m biased or anything, but I think that the two of them are happy, and I think that’s very good especially for Michael."
She smiled and took a deep breath, trying to keep her composure. "For Michael’s sake, I hope so. But," she said, her voice beginning to shake. "I want to be happy, too." She let her tears flow freely now, and Jax drew her closer to comfort her.
*****
"Wow!" Lucy exclaimed when she saw Carly’s ring. "This is beautiful. My, we girls sure have very generous significant others. Well, I’m very happy for you and Jason. When are you going to tell you father and mother?"
Carly smiled as she looked at her ring again. "Well, I think that I’m going to tell them together. I’ve already asked them to meet me for breakfast tomorrow along with Jason. So, please don’t him anything yet, Lucy."
"My lips are zipped," she promised gesturing. "I will not tell a soul until tomorrow after breakfast. This is so wonderful. Everyone who deserves to be together are."
"I know," Keesha said coming in the room. "Who would have ever thought that both of our men would wise up and realize what great women they had at the same time?" she stated laughing.
"Yes, two very modest women, at that," Lucy said laughing as well. "Now, the fun stuff," she said opening her briefcase and removing several large books. "You have one very anxious fiancé, Ms. Ward, so we have to make sure this wedding is planned and goes off without a hitch. Are you up to the challenge?"
"Ready and willing. Let’s get started," she answered.
