Everything I Do-Chapter 12
Robin heard the knock at the door and went over to answer it. Her face immediately dropped when she saw who stood on the other side. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, hello to you, too, Robin," Carly said brightly as she pushed her way past Robin into the apartment. "Long time no see, Robin," she said as she sat on the couch. "Why haven’t you been by to visit?"
Robin closed the door and turned around to face Carly. "My question still stands, Carly. What are you doing here?"
"I’m just being friendly, Robin. You don’t have to be so defensive. Has our fair city held itself to your standards while you were away?"
She folded her arms and narrowed her eyes at Carly. "What’s with all of this small talk?"
She ignored her comments, and continued talking. "I saw Brenda the other day, how is she holding up?"
Robin was beginning to get tired of the chit-chat. "You don’t give a damn about Brenda, and you know it," she spat out. "I don’t know what little game you’re playing, but I getting a little tired of it"
"No," she said pointing her finger at her. "I’m getting tired of your little games. I know you went to see Jason as soon as you got back into town; he told me when he came to dinner. Yes, Jason tells me everything. You see," she said standing up, "that’s the kind of relationship Jason and I have. We don’t keep secrets from one another. But, you wouldn’t understand that, would you?"
Robin drew her lips into a tight line. She thought back to that day in the restaurant when she saw the look in Jason’s eyes when he looked at Carly. She took a deep breath. "You don’t know anything about Jason and my relationship."
"See, that’s where you’re wrong. I do know that the two of you don’t have a relationship anymore. He loves me, Robin," she said placing her palm on her chest. Robin saw the ring and looked away. Carly noticed the movement, and looked down at her hand. "I guess you saw this, huh. Yes, Jason and I are engaged, and we’re going to be together with Michael. My family is going to be complete, no thanks to you."
"Don’t blame me for any of that," she said facing her again. "That was all your doing, Carly."
Carly shrugged. "We’re not going to play the blame game again, Robin. It really doesn’t matter anymore, does it? I’m with Jason, and we’re going to be a family, that’s all that matters. Just remember, Robin," she said coming closer. "I fought long and hard to be with Jason, and you better believer that I’ll fight even harder to keep him." She smiled as she stepped away from her. "Do tell Brenda that I came by," she said before leaving.
Robin stared at the door long after Carly left. She closed her eyes and raised her hand to her mouth. She loved Jason and did only what she thought was best for him, and Carly ended up with him. It just wasn’t fair. She walked over to the phone and quickly dialed the seven numbers.
After several rings, the phone was answered. "Hi," she said. "You said that you would be there if I needed a friend, right. Well, I need a friend now. Can you come over?"

She had just left his penthouse, and she did not want to go home. She was not in the mood for Robin’s pitying looks or negative words. She really did love Robin, but she could do without her for a little while. She needed to be somewhere where she could think.
The park was the perfect place to do just that. This time of year many people shouldn’t be there, so she would have the soltiude she craved. She found a bench and sat down, drawing her legs up on the bench. She looked around. She would have loved for it to be spring so that the flowers she remembered would be in full bloom. But, all there was, was snow; it was too much like the place she had spent the last year.
She sighed when she thought about that year. That year was filled with so much uncertaintity and doubt. Uncertaintity about where she would go. Doubt about who she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She finally after some extensive soul and heart searching, realized that Jax was the man she wanted in her life. Of course she would always have a special place in her heart for Sonny, but it was with Jax she wanted to share the majority of her heart with.
She wrapped her arms around her legs now and tucked in her head. She had to admit that it was a shocking blow to see Keesha in Jax’s bedroom. She was in the place in his life that was reserved and meant for her. She could not let Keesha poison Jax’s mind any further against her. They were meant to be together, and they would be.
"Hello, Brenda. How does it feel being dead?"
Brenda looked over at the woman that had just sat near her on the bench. "Miranda, what do you want?"
"I just wanted to come over, say hi. I would have been rude of me if I didn’t," she said smiling. "I thought that we might compare notes or something on being presumed dead. Weren’t the looks you got when everyone saw you for the first time the best," she said laughing.
"I don’t think anything is even remotely funny, Miranda. What do you want?" she asked repeating her earlier question.
"Nothing, like I just said, I just came to say hi. I saw you sitting over here, and came to offer some friendship." Miranda studied her. She seemed to be miserable. Well, that was good. She was feeling the same way she felt when she first returned from the dead and found her getting married to Jax, her Jax.
"Why don’t you just save your feigned concern, Miranda. I know you don’t care about me. I came out here to think. Why don’t you just leave me alone so that I can do that?" she entreated her.
She shrugged. "Okay, fine, whatever." She stood up. "Don’t say that I never tried to be nice. Just remember, Brenda, I had Jax’s heart first." Then, brightly she said, "She you around Brenda." She gave her one last smile and then walked away.
Brenda took a deep breath and stared after Miranda as she left. Something in her tone left her a little on edge and frightened her. She shook her head, though. She didn’t have time to worry about Miranda; she had to get the love of her life back.

"So, that’s it," Lucy said closing her notebook. She was relishing her role as the wedding planner. She never knew how she survived those months between the Nurses’ Ball. Planning was her life. "How does it feel to be one step closer to the day of your dreams?"
"It feels wonderful. It looks like Luke is here," she said as she noticed him walking through the door. "I don’t remember seeing his name on the guest list," Keesha commented.
Lucy looked through the preliminary list. "Nope, his name is not here. I guess that means we need to do some question asking," she as they both stood and walked over to the bar.
"Good evening ladies," he said as he poured himself a drink. "You are both looking very lovely, this evening."
Keesha smiled. "Thanks, Luke, but don’t think that flattery will get you out of this. I see that you have not responded to the invitation to my wedding. You are coming," she stated, not asked.
"I must say, darlin’, that I was surprised to get an invitation in the first place," he said taking a drink from the glass.
"Why, just because you and my intended don’t seem to get along, you are my guest, Luke, and I expect you to be there. I think that you can put your differences aside for anyone else that might be there for just one day," she said exasperated.
Lucy chimed in, "Yes, Luke. You know it won’t be a real party unless you’re there."
He smiled and finished his drink. "Okay, for the two of you and for the sake of the party, I’ll come."
Keesha smiled. "Good. Well, I think that I will go fill Jax in on the details. If we change anything, I’ll call you," she said to Lucy giving her a hug. "Good bye, you two. Please don’t plan any trouble for the city of Port Charles before my wedding, okay."
"We’ll try," Lucy said as she left. "Now, Luke, we have to do something about Katherine."
"Katherine, I thought the two of you were on some kind of common ground. If you can call anything with the two of you on it common, that is," he teased her.
"Perish the thought, me, referred to as common. Well, anyway, I want her out of my company. I want Deception back."
"I’m surprised that you would come to me for help. Why not just go to your hubby?" he asked pulling out a cigar.
"Well," she said patting her stomach. "I don’t know if you realize this, but I am pregnant, and given my past track record," she said softly and her voice trailed off. "Anyway," she said taking a deep breath and pushing all of the memories out of her mind. "He doesn’t want me doing too much, but I want Katherine out."
"Whatever you want, darlin’," he said lighting the cigar. "You will get."
She smiled and waved away the smoke. "I knew I could count on you, Luke."

"You won’t believe how much work Laura has done on the Ward House project. It was unbelievable. The house should be reopened very soon." She paused as she saw him nod his head as he poked the fire again. She sat back and folded her arms. "Now, I’m being ignored. Did I ever tell you how much I hate being ignored."
He replaced the poker and turned around to face her. "I’m sorry, but I’m not ignoring you. That would be hard to do."
"Okay, what happened, and don’t you dare tell me nothing," she said as he joined her on the couch.
He looked at her and then away. "I met with Brenda today."
"Really," she said nodding. "I told Laura that this was a day of a lot of meetings, but I had no idea this many were going on. By the looks of it, things didn’t go very well."
"I think that’s an understatement. I don’t know; she seems to have it firmly implanted in her mind that we’re getting back together. She thinks that you’ve poisoned me against her."
"Okay, what else did she say," she asked.
"That was about it," he said sitting back. "More of the same. How did things go with Lucy? Did you pick out the perfect cake?" he said changing the subject.
She sighed and decided not to press any further about Brenda. "Yeah, but of course you have to the final say," she said smiling. "Here’s a sketch of the cake," she said showing him the drawing. "The frosting is going to be Butter Crème, and the cake is Red Velvet. Do you approve?"
"It looks wonderful. But, of course, you know I could never disagree with what you say," he said leaning forward to give her a kiss.
"Really, I hope you remember that in the future," she moved to stand up.
"Where are you going?" he asked as she gathered her things.
"I’m going home. You know, I haven’t spent much time there, and thought that I might before I moved out. Besides, your parents are still in town, so maybe you could invite them to dinner or something. Be nice to them, Jax."
He sighed as he walked her to the door. "If you must go, then you must. Remember, though you have a key if you change your mind later."
She kissed him good-bye. "I’ll keep that in mind, but I’m usually very decisive, though. I think that I’m just going to go to bed early. I’ll be sure to call you before I do though. Who knows, maybe you’ll be able to talk me into something."
*****
"I’ll try my best. Good night, luv," he said as she left.
"Whitney," he noted as he entered his hotel room and went straight to the bar. "Can I fix you something?" he asked.
She moved from her position on the couch and walked over to him. "Is that the only greeting you have for me?" she asked as she took the glass from him.
"When did you get in?" he asked leaving her to sit on the couch.
She turned to face him. Distant was not the word to describe him right now. Why did he want her in Port Charles in the first place if he was just going to ignore her? "Just a few hours ago. I was surprised that you weren’t here when I first arrived."
"I have things to do while I’m here. Have you spoken with Brenda?" he asked as he picked up the newspaper and began to read.
"Not yet." She moved to sit by him. "What are you plans for us tonight?"
"Why don’t you go over and surprise Brenda. Here’s the address," he said handing her a slip of paper. "Would you like to have dinner first? I’m ordering some room service."
She nodded her head and studied the piece of paper, not wanting to look at him.
