Miaka Yuuki
Miaka, our lead character. She lives in Japan with her best friend Yui Hongo. She loves to eat, and seems a bit lazy. At the same time she does she best, and studies hard for the high school entrance exams. Her goal is to get into Jonnan High.

When her and Yui go to the other world (Konan) Tamahome saves them from a bunch of slave traders. In an attempt to looks for the Yui who has dissapeared, she tracks down Tamahome.

She's brought before the emperor of Konan, and becomes the priestess to try and save them. Over a series of events, Hotohori and Tamahome are sort of fighting over who she will fall in love with. Tamahome. Everytime they're appart Miaka gets the sudden urge to cry because he's not there. She still has to worry about Yui though, who has eventually become her enemy, not to her wish though. Poor girl, Yui's also fallen in love with Tamahome.

Miaka is sent back to her world, but her dear boyfriend tagged along, and he didn't even know it. She, and her brother Keisuke are trying to get him back his own word, and doing their best in not telling him he's just a "character in a book".

The enemy comes and attacks her even in her own world because Yui wants her dead. Priestess of a land inside a book..... her best friend since forever turns against her..... the man she's in love with doesn't even have a shadow.

Tamahome
Tamahome loves Miaka and will risk his life for her. Many times throughout the series, Tamahome saves Miaka with his expertise in the martial arts. His mother died when he was young, and his father is ill most of the time that he is alive. Tamahome also has a few younger brothers and sisters, that he brings money too every chance he gets so they can survive. He appears to be a mercenary guy to those who don't know him, as he never lets an opportunity at making money slip by.

Tamahome is the first Suzaku warrior she finds, out of the 7 to save Konan. But one of the Seriiyu warroirs kills his family, and all he has left is Miaka.... who can't stay in his world forever. Yui rubs it in his face that he's a character in a book. He dones't believe that all his pain, his family, and everything he's gone through isn't real.

Miaka is sent to her world, and Tamahome grabs on to her because he can't let her go. He doesn't understand anything in her world, and once Keisuke is telling Miaka about not being real, adn he accidently overhears. Therefore, he runs off.

The Seriyuu warriors are trying to kill Miaka, but he comes back to kick some butt ^-^ Aww! Tamahome!

Hotohori
Hotohori is the Emperor of Konan Country and the second seishi Miaka meets after Tamahome. He has fantasized about the legend of Suzaku No Miko since he was a kid. As a result, he also loves Miaka.

Hotohori is narcisstic and his best known line is, "I'm so beautiful that it's scary." Throughout the series, he gets mistaken for a woman.

But during a trip Miaka has away from the king, he gets married to someone that looks much like Nuriko. But out of all the Suzaku, he's my least favorite! He's just so clueless on anything, and the fact that he looks like a girl sometimes, and he doesn't pull it off as well as Nuriko, that really doens't help.

Nuriko
Nuriko, at first, was thought of as woman. You soon learn that he isn't... He quickly becomes one of the guys and is thought of as a big brother to many of the other Seishi... especially Tamahome.

He is always referred to as being "gay" by the others, because of his love for the Emperor. He's constantly doing things for Miaka, such as taking her places (being her guardian), serving her food, and checking up on her when she is upset. Whenever somebody says something remotely out of line, he knocks them into a nearby wall. But Nuriko is one of my favorite! I find him one of the funniest characters in the entire show, and people are always making cracks about him. Like one line Tamahome says when introducing Nuriko "And him... He's gay." WHAMMM!!! He gets a huge blow to the head. Hehe, how can you not love him?

Alas, while fighting one of the Seriyuu, he dies. A nice big bite right through the stomach! (ouchies!) He's missed SOO much, especially by me ;-;. Towards the end of the series (around episode 51) He makes a come back in the battle against Nakago, in the real world. He was actually only there in spirit, but those little girls with the blue hair (you know, the ones that are always pissing people off, although not on purpose) were letting him borrow a body. It's all very touching.

Chichiri
Daaaaa! Chichiri is a really cool character. Despite his cute high voice and his perpetual smile, he's had a really rough life (just like every other character). In case you haven't seen those, I won't tell you about it... But he just wears the mask to hide the fact that inside, he's been really hurt. Anyway, his magic is absolutely awesome; he's the most powerful of the seishi (except for Tamahome at the end) and is the only one that's able to stand up to Nakago (even getting a chi blast head on...) He does cool little stuff like looking like other people and disappearing into his hat. He adds "no da" onto every sentence, don't ask me why I just love it when he does that! ("Shhh na no da!") Anyway, he's really nice to everyone else (he's the only one that calls Miaka "Miaka-chan") and he sort of acts as the group's advisor and psychologist. Random little factoid: he's the *only* character in the whole show who NEVER ONCE changes clothes! (I bet you needed to know that.). He's my other favorite character, I can't decide between him and Nuriko (and sometimes Tasuki). Can you blame me?

Tasuki
Tasuki is the swearing, quick tempered ex-bandit of the Suzaku seishi. His best bandit buddy is Kouji and they do this funky little dance thing whenever they see each other. He has two really cool weapons. At first, he uses these sorcery cards that will conjure up whatever you write on them. Then he gets the tessen (metal fan) that shoots fire. Tasuki tends to say things without thinking and then gets in trouble for it. He acts like a big tough guy, but he's really sweet on the inside. He tends to be emotional and feels things deeply. He'd do anything for his fellow seishi or his Miko. Like all Suzakus, he's very loyal. Although he claims to hate women at first, he DOES take that remark back in episode 52. His hobbies include ... um ... burning things, getting into fights, and getting drunk. He hates large bodies of water (because he can't swim) and milk. He has five sister, the oldest of which constantly hits him on the head with a log.

Mitsukake
Mitsukake... what can I say about Mitsukake? He's the quietest of all the Seishi, even Chiriko, so every time he says something I think, "Mitsukake! You had a line!" Seriously, he's an interesting character. Like all of them, he's had a rough past. He ranks, in my book, as one of the loneliest characters in the show. All he has is a cat to keep him company, and the cat's perpetually running off to sit on Chichiri's shoulder or play charades with Tamahome ^.^ I don't think his quietness comes out of shyness, I just think he never has much to say. I mean, you try to talk over Tasuki and Tamahome's brawls. He's kind of scary looking when he first comes in, and I'm not sure if the haircut makes it better or not.

Chiriko
What to say about Chiriko ... He's the youngest of the Suzakus. He's really adorable and he's really intelligent. He seems to get really attached to Tasuki, Mitsukake, and Chichiri. It's not really clear what his exact powers are ... he just seems to stand there and spout out useful bits of information. I think he's actually the bravest of any of the seishi because when his body is inhabited, he has to kill himself. He will not let Mitsukake heal him because them the little buddhist floating guy (you know who I'm talking about) will survive as well.

He also comes back during the final battle with Nakago in the real world. There's not alot to say about Chiriko because he's very quiet, and rarely EVER speaks to anyone in general, much less Miaka. Unless of course he's giving a plan, or saying something intelligent. What else ... uh ... he's cool, okay? Just trust me on that! ^-^
