| WHO OR WHAT IS GOD? God is not a body; God is not an angel; but He did appear in these forms. The Bible is very plain on this, God is a Spirit. He is not two Spirits, or three. He is one Spirit that fills all the universe. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Corinthians I 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? CAN WE SEE GOD? No man can see God, no one ever has, and no one ever will. Why? Because God is a Spirit and a spirit is invisible. John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. John 5:37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. John I 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. HOW CAN WE SEE GOD? If you have ever read a science fiction story about an invisible man, you know that something must be put on or around him to see him. You don’t really see him, you see an outline of him. If you spray painted him, you could then see his image. John 12:45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; GOD MUST REVEAL HIMSELF. God must use some method to show Himself, seeing that He is invisible. In the Old Testament, He revealed Himself as a angel, a cloud, etc. Genesis 18:1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; 2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, 22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. Genesis 19:1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; IN THE SON. In the New Testament, God made Himself a body (temple) through Mary. He revealed Himself through His only begotten (born) Son. Timothy I 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.21 But he spake of the temple of his body. John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Corinthians II 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Timothy I 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; THE FACTORY A fruit canning company may have factories all over a certain area, but to deal with the company, you must go through the main office. This is where all the ordering is done. So it is with God. The Father is a Spirit, and He fills all space. The Father (Spirit) now works through His Son (the flesh). We come to the Father through the Son. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. John 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Colossians 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; THE ETERNAL SON? The only begotten son had a beginning in the womb of Mary. God’s plan for the son was in the mind of God before the world was made. God made the whole creation around His plans for the son. Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? Peter I 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. THE OFFICE OF THE SON WILL END. The world was given to man by God. Satan tricked man into giving it to him by getting man to obey him in the Garden of Eden. God entered the arena of this world in the flesh , through Mary, to destroy the works of Satan. Corinthians I 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. John I 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. ALL CO-EQUAL? Some teach that God is three persons, co-equal and co-eternal. Is this what the Scriptures teach? Jesus said that His Father was greater than He. Why did He say this? John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. Revelation 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. HOW MANY NAMES? In the Old Testament, God used many different names; Lord of Hosts, The Great I Am, etc. Through these various names, God showed us different attributes of Himself. He saved the best part ,and the best name, till last. God revealed Himself as Savior, and His name as Jesus. Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: THE ARM OF THE LORD The Bible speaks of “the arm of the Lord”. What is this arm? God the Father(Spirit) made Himself a body(the Son; the flesh) that He used to reach down to earth to do His work. John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. John 12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
