STAR TREK

MUTANT

Ideas brought together, simmered, and served by: The irrepressible Zordauch

Special Thanks To:
Stan Lee: For creating a universe populated, at least in part, by individuals with special powers
Gene Roddenberry: For creating a universe in which humans have grown beyond their petty differences and begun to truly explore the universe in which we live
Rick Berman, Michael Piller, Ira Steven Behr, Jeri Taylor, Brannon Braga, et al (collectively: TPTB): For expanding Gene Roddenberry's universe, for good and bad.
Mike Brown: For getting me hooked on Star Trek, encouraging me to write, and watching over my site whilst I was in Indiana.
Samuel Rail: For creating an environment that introduced me to Sci-fi, fantasy, parody, and the insanity that results. I love ya, bro.
Craig Marin: For reawakening my interest in sci-fi, fantasy, and comics during an otherwise unproductive semester at a local community college.
M. Night Shyamalan: for his concept in "Unbreakable" of comics being an exaggeration of the super-powered and super-weakened heroes and villains in the real world.
To the Writers, artists, and inkers(tracers!) of the current X-Men/Star Trek crossovers. Interesting how Professor X wasn't included in the TNG crossover :P
Kevin Smith: For all his skewed films of Convenience store workers, comic book geeks, and wise men who choose not to speak unless actually communicating. Snootch to the noonch.
Most importantly, a tremendous thanks and apology to Sister Tawnie Ashton. Because of her resemblance to Anna Paquin, and some situations that resulted when I tried to befriend her, she helped me realize a lot about myself, such as why I liked the character of Rogue. Like Rogue, I tend to hurt people if I'm not careful about how I touch their lives. I'm sorry, Sister Ashton. SLY.

Okay, now that all the recognition has been taken care of, let's see what the result is of all these contributions to my insanity:
BACKGROUND:
A basic factor of genetic life is mutation. Through generations of mutation, evolution is possible. Millions of generations of mutations on earth saw single-celled organisms become complex organisms: plants, invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, dinosaurs, birds, mammals, primates, humans. In the middle of the twentieth century of the Common Era, as humans reckoned time, mutations of a new sort began manifesting themselves among humans. These mutated humans were persecuted and hunted, resulting in wars between anti-mutant factions, factions promoting cooperation, and factions promoting mutant domination. By the late twenty-first century, when the human race was capable of interstellar travel, mutants were largely ignored. Certain powerful cases, such as the case of the rapid mutation of Lieutenant Gary Mitchell and Doctor Elizabeth Dehner, both of Starfleet, in 2266, showed that the majority of humans were still afraid of mutants, despite enlightenment in most other factors. To keep the peace, a blind eye was turned as the organization known as Section 31 began actively recruiting mutants and other powerful beings. By the dawn of the 24th century, Section 31 is perfectly organized into teams, units, and groups, with leaders on different levels. All this is led by a surprisingly ordinary man: Officer Mellor Trenar, formerly a minor Province Minister on his homeworld.
