Nerds the candy has been around for  a long time. 

They are produced by the Willy Wonka factory

Nerds came out in the 1980's.  They've been around for a long time.          

Nerds usually seem to be "unpopular," in the generic schools.  In some schools the popular people are the smart ones. 

So what way is your school, do you know?

Nerds are people who want to be smart, they aren't always smart.  Yet the popular people are the ones who are good looking,  their  siblings are popular, yet in certain schools like mine the popular kids are people that are fun to be around, or people have to like.

Some might say that nerds are trained to be smart while popular kids are trained to please, a little cruel and untrue I think.
